"Then hurry it up," Benedict cut him off. "I expect results."

Sabrina stayed in her home office amidst supportive notes left by her closest friends and employees who would not allow the rumors to define who she was. Amidst all the chaos, a hurt part of her felt attacked that so many others can judge her quickly.

In a lavish café across the city, Clara sipped her coffee, scrolling through the trending hashtags with a satisfied smirk. Every post, every comment, every share was a victory.

Her phone buzzed with a message from Shadow.

Shadow: Phase One is successful. Ready for Phase Two?

JM Reese never did care too much about what people thought of him, but by gosh he was good at playing the game. On that rooftop patio, under the hot sun of late afternoon, he sat clasping hands with Eva Ross like the world's most perfectly built power couple. His hand encircled hers, and though their smiles appeared genuine enough, the truth was much more scripted than anyone knew.Eva, in her own irresistible beauty and flawless poise, was the personification of elegance. Everything she did was calculated, choreographed for the world's stage, and she reveled in it. To her, it was a game, a game she was playing to win. And to win was to be in control, something that she'd learned over the years. The cameras clicked around them like a swarm of bees. Flashes illuminated their faces with blinding white light, yet neither flinched. JM settled back in his chair, his typical cocky grin never wavering from his lips as Eva looked at him with a mix of respect and something else something menac

9:00 A.M.Thompson Enterprises – Executive OfficeSaben leaned against the high-rise windows of his office, the city out there below in silent movement unrestful, indifferent. The sky was that washed-out gray-blue which promised rainstorms. He ignored it.His arms crossed, shoulders slumped. He'd had no coffee. The ancient clock on the wall ticked like a metronome for a never-conducted concert. He wasn't used to waiting. And he damn sure wasn't used to not knowing. But here he was.Waiting.Not for an analyst. Not for a meeting. For her.Though she was still technically on leave. Though Zina had only promised that a representative would be going through her files. He wasn't searching for her.But when the door creaked open with a tentative knock, and he turned—his breath caught. She came.Jenny White. Not over a conference call. Not as a name on an email conversation. In person. And not the woman he remembered. This Jenny was not cocooned in her customary tailored suit of confidence.

The Next MorningSaben adjusted the cuffs of his blue suit as he entered the sunlit glass-walled conference room on the 31st floor of Thompson Global HQ. The board meeting was at 9:00 a.m. sharp, and of course, he was early. But Jenny White wasn't.He glanced in the direction of her familiar spot—neat, orderly, punctual. Now, however, it was empty. He did not want to jump to conclusions. Not yet.He pulled out his phone, just in time for it to ring.1 new message – Zina (Executive Secretary)Sir Saben, just a word of caution: Jenny White filed an emergency leave today. She sent a substitute to work in her place. The representative is already in the waiting room. His jaw stiffened.Emergency leave?Saben stared at the note, then at the empty chair. Jenny had not called. Had not texted. After all that. just vanished like that?A soft knock on the glass interrupted him.Zina came in, as kindly as ever. "Good morning, sir. Substitute for Jenny White is ready to be introduced."Saben nodde

In the upscale rooftop restaurant, the city skyline sparkled like diamonds spilled across black velvet. Soft jazz wafted on the air as heavy silverware met delicate china. Waiters glided in choreographed movements as conversations buzzed softly. But in one corner table, tension was anything but subdued.Nolan Cruz watched Saben Thompson with an knowing smirk, spinning the brandy glass around his fingers. His eyes followed the intensity emanating from the man next to him—the way Saben's eyes hadn't wavered from the couple in the other room.JM Reese and Eva Ross. They sat by the balcony, laughing as if the world had given them everything they desired and more. Eva's laughter was like champagne bubbles, her fingers following the rim of her wineglass. JM leaned back in that smug, untroubled posture untouchable and satisfied. But Saben's jaw had tightened.Hard.Nolan ended the silence. "You sure you want to dig that deep? Looks like a war waiting to erupt.Saben didn't respond immediatel

Saben Thompson of BMX Estate did not know who JM Reese was.Not that evening. Not in that particular, isolated restaurant where money whispered among the clinking wine glasses and smooth jazz curled through the air like smoke. He had just returned from a quick phone call with one of his logistics leads when he found Nolan Cruz, his longtime business partner, waiting at their booth with two brandy glasses and a grin that always meant trouble.“Hey,” Nolan said, nudging him with an elbow. “You see that woman in the black silk dress near the terrace?”Saben followed his gaze. The woman Nolan had indicated sat with poised poise, laughter spilling easily from her lips. Her red lipstick was perfect, her smile calculated. Black silk streamed down her body like liquid ink.Her opponent sat across from her, a man who appeared to be confidence incarnate navy suit, clean cut, unnervingly composed. He leaned in to remark on something, and the woman laughed once more, flinging her hair over one sh

The rain sprinkled softly against the windows, casting rivulets on the glass much like the tears that would not cease flowing from Jenny White's eyes. She was curled up on the edge of the bed, elbows wrapped tightly around her knees. The end of the world had occurred, and all she could do was gasp through the devastation. Her phone lay at hand, Zina's name still on the screen.Zina's breath was taken as Jenny's voice cracked across the receiver, raw and trembling."If only I'm not pregnant. I would go through bars. I'd scream. I'd break things. I'd do anything just to get this pain out of me," Jenny sobbed, her voice choking on every word. "But I can't. I can't even fall apart properly."There was a heavy silence on the phone. For a moment, even Zina—the ever-controlled, competent Zina—was speechless."Jenny…" she whispered at last, her words all but inaudible over the gentle sob of Jenny's weeping."I just loved him, Zina," Jenny continued, her voice a fragile echo of what it used t
