The doctor helped Aurora into a bed beside James, and I could see the tenderness in her eyes that she tried to hide as she saw James’s state.

She loved him, he was her brother after all. But what made them fight for five years without contact? James had some explaining to do.

And I could see the way Chris stared at her. No one has ever made Chris into what he was today. I couldn’t let Aurora leave immediately. I had to stop her, for James to finally reconcile with her and for Chris to show her he wasn’t the douche he presented himself to be.

For that to happen, Philip needed to stop being her guard dog.

The nurses finished putting all the tubes and wires into her body, and signified to the doctor that she was ready to go. Her jaw hardened as her eyes met with Chris.

I walked to her side, and she rose a brow at me. I gave her a small smile and took her other hand in mine, giving her a soft squeeze. “Thank you.”
