CHAPTER 102

Author's POV.

Aidan gripped the bed hard and tried not to let the disappointment overwhelm him. He sighed and rubbed Fiona's hair absentmindedly.

He watched as the portly man left the room leaving just the two of them.

"I don't like that doctor" He tried to joke, as he grabbed her other hand.

He sniffed and hoped the tears keep at bay, for he wouldn't cry. Not when his wife was here fighting for her life and trying to come back for his sake and their baby's.

"He says you're not coming back anytime soon. Is..is that right?" He asked into space, dumping the nail nipped into the bin.

"I know he isn't right, but damn I need to hear it from you?" He patted her hair and nuzzled her cheeks while staring forlornly into her eyes.

"Talk to me." He whispered, hating that she was nothing more than just immobile.

Her soft inhaling and exhaling eased his taut muscles a bit, and he sighed. At least she wasn't dead, and that was all that mattered.

"Talk to me." His voice lowered even more,
