Orion pov

I didn’t sleep that night.

I lay in bed, eyes wide open, the satin sheets twisted around my legs, Cassian’s voice echoing in my ears.

> “You’re not going anywhere, little Omega.”

Even now, hours later, I could still feel the heat of his breath on my skin… and the mocking way he had smiled when I trembled.

I hated him.

I hated how he looked at me.

How he saw straight through the layers I spent years perfecting.

I pressed the heel of my hand into my chest, trying to ease the pressure growing behind my ribs. It wasn’t panic anymore. It wasn’t even fear.

It was something worse.

Something heavier.

He knew what I was.

He knew I was being controlled and directed.

He knew I wasn't that independent heir everyone thought I was.

And worse than that? He didn’t expose me. He left it hanging, like bait on a hook, and I walked right into it.

---

The morning sun broke over the skyline, cold and pale against the glass walls of my penthouse suite. I was dressed in a charcoal suit and matte black tie—my usual armor.

I couldn’t afford to look weak today.

The negotiation meeting with Cassian’s people would begin in an hour.

And I would have to sit across from him.

Act normal.

Pretend nothing had happened.

A knock echoed through the suite.

“Come in,” I said tightly.

Nora stepped inside—my personal assistant. Sharp, efficient, and loyal, the only person I trusted with my real truth.

“The North delegation has arrived,” she said. “They’re waiting in the boardroom. Mr. Orion—” she hesitated, “are you alright?”

I blinked. “Why do you ask?”

“You look… tired.”

I forced a smile. “Long night. That’s all.”

She didn’t look convinced but nodded. “Understood.”

---

The elevator ride down to the twenty-eighth floor was smooth and silent. I stared at my reflection in the mirrored panel. Sharp lines. Cold eyes. Controlled. Just like they taught me.

But beneath the suit, the tie, the mask—my body remembered.

It remembered the scent of him. The power. The heat.

Stop.

This wasn’t the time for weakness.

we walked into the boardroom, which was filled with glass and steel, sunlight bouncing off polished surfaces. A massive table sat in the center, surrounded by advisors from both our companies.

And at the head of the table, relaxed in his chair like a king on his throne…

Cassian Vale.

He looked even more dangerous in daylight.

Tailored suit. Navy blue. No tie. One button undone. Casual, yet impossibly dominant. His fingers tapped lightly against the table, and the moment I stepped into the room—he looked up.

Our eyes met.

Something inside me pulled taut, like a wire strung too tight.

“Ah, Mr. Orion,” said the North’s financial director, rising. “Glad you could join us.”

I nodded, moving to take my seat directly across from Cassian.

I can't afford to be absent from an important negotiation like this.

He didn’t say a word.

But his eyes never left me.

---

The first thirty minutes passed in a blur of numbers, property mergers, market share, and legal terms. I answered questions, proposed edits, countered suggestions.

Everything was normal.

Except him.

Cassian hadn’t spoken yet. Not once. He let his team do the talking. He just sat there, watching me with that unreadable expression. Like he was waiting. Measuring.

And then—he finally spoke.

“We propose a joint expansion in the Southern region,” he said, voice steady. “Your land. Our tech. Fifty-fifty control.”

The room fell silent. Everyone turned to me.

I didn’t flinch.

“That’s a bold move,” I replied evenly. “Fifty-fifty doesn’t sound fair when the land is already ours.”

His lips twitched. “Your land, yes. But underdeveloped. We bring the infrastructure. The energy systems. The AI grid. You bring… dirt.”

A few nervous chuckles around the table.

I leaned forward, matching his tone. “Dirt we could sell to someone else. Someone less interested in making jokes during a billion-dollar negotiation.”

His eyes darkened—just a flicker. A challenge.

“I’m not joking, Orion.”

“Then negotiate like you’re serious.”

The tension between us crackled like a storm cloud over a metal tower.

---

The meeting adjourned two hours later. Agreements half-signed. More to discuss at our next meeting. Everyone filed out, murmuring quietly.

Everyone except him.

Cassian remained seated, fingers steepled beneath his chin.

I stood. So did he.

The door closed behind the last assistant, leaving us alone.

“I see you’re still pretending nothing happened,” he said calmly.

I kept my voice cold. “Nothing did.”

He took a step closer. “Your Omega scent says otherwise.”

“I’m not an Omega.”

He tilted his head. “really? Then let's find out.”

I clenched my fists.

He stepped even closer, his voice dropping. “Do you know what I think?”

“No. But I’m sure you’re about to tell me.”

“I think you’re waiting for permission to stop hiding.”

I laughed—sharp and bitter. “You think this is a choice?”

He didn’t answer. Just watched me. Waiting.

I turned away, walking toward the door. “This conversation is over.”

But before I could reach it, he said softly, “You don’t have to be their puppet anymore.”

I froze.

He knew.

Not just about me being an Omega—but about everything.

And the terrifying part?

Some small, stupid part of me wanted to believe him.

Cassian Vale – POV I hated not knowing. In my world, you either sensed your path or you carved it yourself. But this—this thing between Orion and me? It felt like walking in the dark, knowing something was ahead but unable to reach it. I kept playing our last conversation over in my mind. His voice when he said he didn’t know if he could let me in. The way his eyes dropped when I told him I came for him. Every part of him screamed don’t trust. Every part of me wanted to earn it anyway. My wolf wouldn’t shut up about it either. It circled inside my chest like a storm without lightning. There was a pull—deep, sharp, constant—but no confirmation. No snap. No bond. Just confusion. And that was what worried me most. --- Kai, my Beta and second-in-command, sat beside me as we watched the security footage of Orion’s press event from earlier that morning. "Still playing the perfect heir," Kai said, crossing his arms. "If you didn’t know better, you’d think he was a Beta.

Cassian POV I knew I shouldn't have come here. But I was never good at staying away from what intrigued me. And Orion Drevenhart—Omega or not—was a storm wrapped in silk. All quiet fire and barely bridled control. He opened the door like he was debating whether to let me live. He stepped back like his body had moved before his brain agreed. And now, sitting here in his suite, I could still smell the faint, fading trace of what he truly was beneath all those chemical walls. Omega. But more than that—something… mine. Not fully. Not yet. I just needed a confirmation from my wolf. But the pull was there. Subtle. Incomplete. Like hearing a song you once loved but forgetting the words. --- He stood by the window —always at a distance. Like the skyline could anchor him better than people could. I said the things I’d been holding back in that boardroom. That I’d felt his instincts. That he wasn’t broken, no matter what he’d been told. Didn’t run this time. The tr

Orion pov The elevator doors slid shut behind me, sealing Cassian on the other side. But his voice stayed with me. > You don’t have to be their puppet anymore. That sentence repeated in my mind the entire ride up to my office, echoing through the back of my skull like a memory I hadn’t lived yet. I dropped my briefcase on the couch and tore off the tie around my neck. My hands were trembling. Again. And I hated it. I hated him—for getting under my skin. For looking at me like he knew all the things I’d spent my life hiding. --- I stood by the window, watching the city stretch into mist and light. Drevenhart Tower cast a long shadow across the blocks below. I was supposed to rule all this someday. But how could I rule anything when I wasn’t even allowed to be myself? My wolf stirred weakly inside me, restless. Muted. Tired. It hadn’t fully awakened, not since the suppressants started when I was nine. A desperate move by my uncle’s private physician. They ca

Orion pov I should have pushed him away. I should have slapped his hand off, grabbed the suppressant, and run back into the crowd before anyone noticed the scent I was leaking. It was like a broken bottle of perfume spilling everywhere. But I didn’t move. Not when his fingers brushed my jaw again. Not when his scent wrapped around me like a velvet chain, tight and irresistible. Not even when his lips lowered and I could feel his breath warm on my neck. Was I scared? No. Worse. It was something much deeper. It was need. Primal. Stupid. Desperate. My Omega instincts screamed for touch, for connection—especially with him. And that was the scariest part of all. Cassian’s voice was soft but dangerous. “You don’t have to pretend anymore,” he whispered. “It’s written all over you.” My fists clenched. My nails dug into my palms, trying to stay calm. Anything to stay grounded. “I don’t know what you are talking about." I rasped. He pulled back just a little

  • Behind the Beta's Mask: The Hidden Omega   chapter 1: Omega's Heat

Orion Pov My scent was supposed to be gone. Erased. Controlled. Suppressants were injected every morning. My skin was soaked in neutral blockers. My clothes infused with artificial neutral Beta pheromones. No one could know I was an Omega—not in a world where Omegas were bred, bought, and sold like property. I was the heir to the Drevenhart Conglomerate… At least, that’s what the press called me. The truth? I was a puppet. A breathing symbol of a dead legacy. My uncle—Sebastian Drevenhart—sat on the throne built by my parents. After their “accident,” he adopted me to maintain the illusion of continuity. Public sympathy kept the company afloat. I was nothing but a soft face to sign documents and pose for the media. He let me live because I was useful. Not loved. Not protected. Useful. But tonight, that carefully maintained illusion shattered. The annual Drevenhart Gala was in full swing. Crystal chandeliers threw rainbow prisms across the ballroom. Soft cla
