Chapter 1

As the train started, I got busy filling my eyes with the beauties of nature. I was enjoying the sight as if a blind person had got her vision for the first time. Never had I ever thought of this fortunate day when I would see these scintillating lights, after living a life of darkness. I could feel that I’m breathing, contenting my heart.

Just when my eyes were busy catching the beautiful sight of lush green hills, landscapes and breathtaking sceneries, a sudden noise made me jittered. The waves of shrill hampered and dismounted me from the calmness of my joyful trance.

My eyes quickly checked the source of the sound and saw a man who was covering his mouth for an unpredictable reason. After scanning the surroundings,  he made himself comfortable in the seat and sighed.

He seemed like a prisoner on the run but his dress up and personality explicated another story. I could smell his richness by his looks. No! He can't be a criminal, so why was he restlessly looking here and there as if any monster was chasing him?

Wait a minute! Is he a Mafia? His looks really match with what I’ve seen in movies. Black, sleek hair neatly coiffured to reveal a perfectly carved, radiant face. Glittering round eyes replete the hues of the sky set concealed within their sockets and a thick trimmed beard complimented his cheekbones. The way his eyes were scrutinizing the whole compartment I’m damn sure that he must be a prize money mafia otherwise why would he act like this. But, if he is a mafia person then I think I’m in trouble.

The very moment I ran my thoughts to judge who he could be, he gazed at me in a rather suspicious way. The moment I saw him fumbling through his pocket with his eyes never leaving mine, my heart started pounding to resonate inside my skull. I almost skipped a heartbeat when I saw a black thing coming out of his pocket. I shut my eyes tight to safeguard them from the sight of horror. What else would come out from the pocket of a mafia, obviously, a gun. I started begging him for mercy with my eyes remained closed and my hands up in the air.

“Please! Don't shoot, I won't utter a single word about you to anyone. Trust me. Please spare my life.” Stuttering in fright, I clamoured it all in one go without opening my eyes.

There was something strange, I didn't hear anything from the other side for a minute. Then I slowly mustered some strength, peeled my eyes and dared to look at him. To my horror, he was already looking at me but with a big question mark on his face. My eyes rushed to look for the gun around him but to my surprise and relief, it was not a gun it was his phone.

Aaahh! So stupid of me. The embarrassment slapped me so hard that I covered my face with my hands. Then I heard a voice.

“Are you mad or something? Am I looking like a criminal to you?” He asked rudely.

“It was just a misunderstanding.” I covered it up in an extra crude way possible.

The arrogant man smirked and it was when I noticed his slender rose lips. Well, I hate to admit it, but I really like the colour of his lips. Before I could ride the horses of my thoughts to praise his rosy lips, he spat out some useless words of wisdom.

“Oh yes! It's actually written on your face that you’re stupid.”

“Then why did you act like you’re some Prize-money-criminal?”  I asked in an irate manner. But it was then I realized that I’ve tamed a beast with my words. If stares could kill, he would have stabbed me a good thousand times. Well, I didn't ask the wrong question. Did I? Why would he look at me like I’ve challenged his manhood?

“It's none of your business. Stay out of it or I’ll make you compensate for every word that comes out of your idle mouth.” He said in total disgust, gritting his teeth. His eyes were dribbling in hatred.

I had no option but to keep quiet because I didn’t want to spoil my mood by getting involved in a heated argument with this arrogant brat. I was happy as it was the first time after three years that I felt fetterless. All I could ponder at this time is my survival. But I know everything will go my way from now.

Tomorrow morning would be a new beginning for me and definitely the last day to see this product of superciliousness. A small smile appeared on my face as I sighed in relief.

Mr Arrogant was still looking tensed as if someone had given him the task of saving the world. He was continuously trying to call someone but it seemed like he wasn't answered. Poor boy. But why did I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere? Why is he looking familiar to me? Ah… Why would I care too much for him?

I should sleep now. I’m eagerly waiting for tomorrow. A new life, a new city and a new journey was waiting for me.

In the morning

I had a really good sleep last night after a long time. I got up from my place and yawned saucily. When my eyes were half opened, they met a pair of sapphire eyes glancing at me with hatred. I quickly closed my mouth and averted my eyes to my watch. Well, great. I had very little time to get ready. So, I hurried to freshen up and started packing my bags completely ignoring the scornful gaze of Mr Arrogant. Seriously, something is wrong with this man, he is so restless, maybe he is having a bad time. But again that’s not my problem.

Meanwhile, I got busy admiring the passing beauties with a smile. My station finally came and I began to pick my luggage with a rush of freedom surging me. Well, I only had a few dresses but still, the bag was pretty heavy. While I was struggling with my luggage by pulling it towards me with all my strength, suddenly I lost control and was about to fall. To my surprise, an unseen muscular hand clutched me from behind and held me suspended in the air.

Before I could come to my senses, the pair of beautiful eyes were looking at me with much concern. I couldn't help but lose myself in the waves of his blue ocean. It was really deep and intense, alluring yet menacing. Despite being smeared with a lot of things, a lurking emptiness and a hidden pain were resting under the canopy of those dark orbs.

My subconscious brain was asking me to break eye contact. I was also aware of the awkward position we were in, but it was like he got me hypnotised. As I was about to move away from him, to our dismay we saw a group of men in black busted into our compartment.

The air suddenly became thick. I hastily shoved him and started picking my luggage as I wanted to disappear from that goddamn place with the speed of light, if possible. His men were standing with their heads down in embarrassment as if they had abruptly bumped into the bedroom of the newly wedded couple.

The last thing I heard while leaving was that arrogant man’s outburst over his men. He burst out, “Because of you bullheads I had to suffer in this train, you are nothing but a bunch of incompetent fools I’m wasting my money on. You couldn't even get me a first-class seat. Luckily people didn't recognise me.”

“Apologise Sir.” Those men were looking like they’re about to be executed by their boss at any moment.

“Last chance. Now let’s go.” He threw his doleful glance over them and stormed out of there flaunting his big sunglasses and covering his face as if he was a big celebrity. Huhh...

On the other hand, I welcomed myself to the business capital of Europe- Milan. I was happy. I had not got a house or a job yet. I had no idea how I'm going to survive here. Despite being a penniless person, I was happy. Because when you have experienced all sorts of misery beforehand, a little sense of insecurity about having nothing and starting everything from scratch is just a mere thing.

“Ahhh! Let's see what Milan has in store for me.” I said yawning while I knew I'm out of the cage under this new sky.
