Outside the hospital.
Ray flicked his coat in visible disgust, as if trying to shake off every trace of Snow’s scent.
Then he looked at Calvin and asked, “Why are you still hanging around with those two?”
Calvin slid one hand into his pocket. His right arm ached slightly from overuse while driving yesterday—there was still a bit of numbness lingering.
“Why not?” he replied coolly.
Ray scoffed, tongue pressing against the inside of his cheek as he cast a glance through the glass doors toward where Adriana was helping Snow to a seat.
“You really think she’s some meat-and-potatoes, decent type? I’ve seen a lot of people like them. Not good men or good women. You’d better be careful or you’ll end up getting played. Vampires—once they start sucking, they don’t stop until you’re dry. Look at her friend—just to get a role in a damn TV show, she nearly ruined h
“In the group? And even knows his room number?”That meant the whole crew probably knew Ray was staying at this hotel. That dead woman Snow—she really didn’t know fear.Very good. Very good at digging things up.Ray took a long drag from his cigarette, then exhaled with visible disgust.“Put your clothes on and stand to the side.”Morgan didn’t argue. She quickly gathered her skirt, slipping it back on with trembling fingers. Quietly, she stepped into the corner, eyes lowered, lips pressed together. She didn’t dare say a word.But... if Ray wasn’t going to sleep with her, why hadn’t he let her go?What was he planning to do?Morgan glanced at Ray’s face. His expression was unreadable, but the murderous aura rolling off him was unmistakable. Her breath hitched—she didn’t dare think too deeply.Ding-dong.The doorbell rang again, ec
Morgan waited a few moments, but the door didn’t open. Frowning slightly, she knocked again—still no answer.Unwilling to be left standing in the hallway like an idiot, she pulled out her phone. After all, she’d already told her agent about tonight’s plan, and her agent had enthusiastically encouraged her to “communicate privately” with Ray.Even if it didn’t work, at least she’d shown initiative—just in case Ray ever did want her.You never know who’s watching, her agent had said. If you wait for them to knock, you’ll wait forever. She’d done this before, of course. Approaching directors, assistant directors—none of them were exactly what you’d call handsome. Greasy, sleazy, some of them so ugly it felt like divine punishment just to smile at them. But Ray was different. He was rich. Young. And, most importantly, good-looking.A diamond bachelor.
Ray deliberately got out of the car a step earlier, standing at the hotel entrance with his arms crossed and a sneer tugging at his lips.“Well, what a coincidence,” he drawled. “We meet again.”Back in the car, Calvin had already seen Ray’s vehicle trailing them through the rearview mirror—not too close, not too far. Deliberate.“You’re very free, aren’t you?” Calvin said calmly as he stepped out.Ray smirked. “Of course. I’m on vacation.”Calvin replied flatly, “I’m busy.”“Oh? Busy with what? You seem even freer than I am.”“Looking for someone.”Ray narrowed his eyes. “What kind of person do you need to find personally? Don’t tell me you’ve already forgotten what the doctors said today. If you keep straining that arm, it could be permanently damaged. You want to end up a one-armed man?&rd
Adriana believed that if Snow made up her mind to do something, she would definitely see it through. But her opponent was Ray, so she still had to tread carefully.“If you need my help, just say so. Don’t be polite with me,” she said.Snow thought for a moment. “Then help me buy something.”At that, Adriana let out a snort of laughter. “So determined? Looks like our beauty Snow is really angry.”More than angry. Snow was practically erupting.“I’m not like you,” she said, voice sharp. “You have feelings for Calvin. Even when you’re mad, you still go easy on him. But Ray? He’s like a wild dog—being soft-hearted with someone like that is just asking to be bitten. And as for moral righteousness? He doesn’t even deserve to hear those words. Do you think that kind of thing works on someone like him?”Adriana raised both hands in mock applause. “G

At the hospital. The doctor finished bandaging the wound on Snow’s foot. She sat on the clinic bed, visibly dejected. The injury was on her toes. After disinfecting, applying ointment, and wrapping it up, the bandage made her foot look puffier—too wide to fit into her shoe. She stared at it like it had betrayed her.Now the real struggle began:Should she call Adriana and ask for a pair of slippers…Or just accept her fate and limp out barefoot? The doctor glanced back as he packed up his tools. “There’s a line of patients waiting. Are you two planning to move?”Snow scratched her head awkwardly. “I… it’s just—”The doctor cut her off before she could finish. “Don’t wear tight shoes over the bandage. Keep it dry, avoid strenuous activity, and don’t pick at the scabs after two days. Let them fall off naturally, or you’ll be left with scar
