Chapter 2

Penulis: Celebrant
Suddenly, a heavy downpour started, drenching me from head to toe in seconds. I forced myself to stand up, trembling from the cold. I turned around, hoping to go inside and take shelter from the rain, but found the door locked from the inside.

After peeking through the window, I saw my parents curled up on the couch, watching TV. Their relaxed smiles made me hesitate. I didn't want to disturb their peace, so I walked back to my rented room in the rain.

I had given all my money to my parents, so I couldn't afford a good place, not even the cheapest room.

As the landlord felt sorry for me, he cleaned out a storage room and rented it to me instead.

There was only a small tap in the storage room, and in the middle of winter, I had to wash with cold water. I dried myself off with a towel and curled up in a makeshift bed made of several towels on the floor.

Ever since my wolf died, my body had grown weak. The next morning, I woke up burning with fever.

The landlord was shocked when he saw me. "Adeline, you need to go to the hospital right now. You look really unwell!"

I knew my condition was bad, but I didn't have enough money to visit the hospital. I didn't even have ten dollars left.

However, if I completed today's food delivery, I could earn 300 dollars. Then, I could finally see a healer.

I struggled to make my way to Forest Cafe. I felt like I might collapse at any moment, but I dug my nails into my leg to stay awake.

I finally managed to pick up the food from the cafe, and the order showed that the delivery address was the dorm at Werewolf Academy.

From a distance, I saw Clara standing in front of the dorm building.

I froze up, and before I could even feel the joy of finally finding her, I saw my parents standing beside her.

In a panic, I quickly hid in a nearby alley.

Clara ran happily into Mom's arms, smiling as she said, "Dad, Mom, I told you I'm doing fine! Why are you still so worried?"

Mom gently stroked her hair, her eyes filled with warmth.

"Of course, we're worried. You're so far from home. Are you sleeping well in the dorm? I brought your bedding from home. If there's anything else you need, we'll buy it now," she said.

Dad added, "She's right. Don't hold back. Tell us what you want. You don't need to save money for us. Adeline sends us money every month, so we're doing fine."

Clara snuggled closer to my mother and smiled. "You two are the best! I love you so much!"

She glanced at her phone and frowned. "But we'll have to wait a while. The food I ordered still isn't here. It's already late!"

Just as she dialed the delivery number, my phone rang. They all turned toward the sound, and our eyes met. I stood frozen in shock.

Clara suddenly hid behind my mother, her voice shaking. "Adeline, why are you hiding in the alley? Are you following me? Please don't hurt me again. I'm scared!"

Mom pulled her closer and said firmly, "Don't worry, Clara. I'm here. No one will hurt you again."

Clara looked at me, her expression uneasy.

"Adeline, Clara is just scared. Now that you know she's alive, we won't hide it anymore. We told you she died because we were afraid you would hurt her again. But since you've been looking for her all these years, we'll let you come home. But only if you promise not to hurt her again," my mother said.

I stared at her in disbelief as my body shook uncontrollably. The food container slipped from my hands and crashed to the ground, spilling its contents.

  • Blessing Them With My Death   Chapter 9

My parents gathered all the evidence and personally submitted it to the Werewolf Tribunal. At the same time, they formally severed their adoption of Clara and, based on everything written in the diary, charged her with orchestrating my abuse and indirectly causing my death.Cases like this were almost unheard of in the pack, so when the trial began, the entire pack showed up to watch. At first, Clara denied everything. She insisted the diary entries were nothing more than made-up fantasies and couldn't be used as evidence. But the protection detail did their job well. They worked with the forest patrol team to uncover everything I had done for Clara over the years and presented it all to the court. One by one, the irrefutable facts piled up. Faced with overwhelming evidence, she finally broke down. "She was the one being nice to me! I never asked her to! And those two—her parents—they're the ones who hurt her all those years! Her death is their fault, not mine!"Her cold, heartles

My parents hadn't even finished reading when they both started trembling uncontrollably. They couldn't believe what they were seeing. They had completely misjudged me all these years and had unknowingly helped destroy their own daughter.I hadn't just endured three years of suffering—I hadn't even gotten a chance to defend myself before I died.My father tried to suppress the pain in his chest as he mentally walked back through the events mentioned in my diary. Everything finally clicked into place. His jaw clenched in fury. "Clara, we were all fooled by you. I'm going to make sure you pay double for everything Adeline went through."When they arrived outside Clara's dorm, they ran into her just as she was coming back from class. She was laughing with her friends, looking relaxed and carefree. She said, "I knew my sister was sick ages ago. I even asked my mother for extra money and told her to take everything back from my sister. Without cash, she could not undergo any treatment.

  • Blessing Them With My Death   Chapter 7

When I heard Clara's words, I couldn't stop trembling even in spirit form. I died without ever understanding why the sister I had always loved treated me like this. I had never once tried to compete with her.Three days later, on the day of my funeral, my parents were the only ones there to send me off. I had no friends, and Clara had to return to school.Suddenly, a middle-aged man burst into the ceremony, clutching a small, worn backpack. His face was filled with shock. "Is this Adeline Harrington's funeral?"Dad stepped forward quickly, recognizing someone who seemed to know me. He said, "Yes, I'm her father. And you are?"The man was my landlord. His expression darkened with fury. "So she did have family? I thought she was an orphan! Do you even know how she lived these past three years?"She couldn't even afford the tiniest room. She had to stay in a storage closet I cleaned out for her. For three whole years, she showered with cold water every day and worked herself to the b

I floated above them, silently watching the chaos unfold in the hospital. It was strange. Death had stripped away all my emotions. I felt nothing—just stillness.Clara clutched her swollen cheek in shock after the slap. When she realized I was really gone, disbelief flickered across her face. But soon, she started sobbing and defending herself, "Fine! I admit I didn't really know how Adeline had been living these past few years."But I wanted to believe she was happy. That's why I said she was eating well and having a good time. What was I supposed to do? Curse her and say she was dying?"I didn't know she was sick! And how is her death automatically my fault? Have you already forgotten how she used to bully me when we were kids? She pushed me into a patch of wolfsbane! I nearly died because of her! She hated me! Why would she ever die for someone she hated?"So just because she was your biological daughter and she's dead, now you're dumping all the blame on me? You adopted me ju

My father slammed his fist into the wall, and blood instantly seeped from his knuckles. "You're lying! Adeline just had a fever. How could she die from that? Did she pay you to lie to us?"The healer's expression darkened. "Sir, please be mindful of your words. Adeline's condition was known throughout the entire hospital. If you don't believe me, you can ask anyone here. This wasn't just a simple fever. Her wolf died days ago. Frankly, it was already a miracle she lasted this long."Dad trembled, and his voice shook with disbelief as he spoke. "Her wolf died? How did she get so sick in the first place?"The healer looked solemn. "She blamed herself for her sister's disappearance. The guilt made her ill. At first, it wasn't life-threatening, but instead of seeking treatment, she spent every day looking for her sister. The illness worsened because of that."In all my time as a healer, I've rarely seen someone so completely devoid of the will to live. She was just waiting to die. In a

Clara shot me a smug glance, then feigned concern as she said, "Why don't we bring Adeline too? She's never been to that place either…"When she noticed Dad's hesitant expression, she immediately lowered her head with a pitiful sigh. "But I'm sure Adeline doesn't want to see me. It's fine. I won't go. You two can take her instead."She sniffled, pretending to be strong. "I'll be okay. Skipping a meal won't hurt me. I'll just drink some water."My father's expression hardened, and he cast a cold glance in my direction. "Isn't Adeline working right now? She's on the clock. How can she just run off to eat? Besides, she made a mistake. A little hardship might help her learn a lesson."Mom nodded in agreement. "Adeline, Clara's already upset. Don't make things worse by being around her. Just keep your distance, alright?"Then she paused, as if something just occurred to her, and added, "Even though Clara wasn't really missing and we don't need to ask the patrol team to search anymore,
