For Gabriel, the nightmare didn't start with a scream. It started with a wedding announcement. The news was a death sentence. My pious mother was marrying the wealthiest man in the city, but the Miller fortune didn't matter to me. What mattered was the monster I would now have to call family. Derek Miller. My campus bully, the guy who spent years making my life a living hell was about to become my step brother. And the most shameful secret of all? I was deathly attracted to him. I thought I could survive it. I had Bradley, the boyfriend I had supported for five years, the guy who promised me the world. But he lied. I didn't get the world. I got a gut wrenching betrayal. I walked into a luxury apartment to find the only person I trusted being ruined by my bully. Derek didn't look away. He pinned me with a gaze of satisfied rage, claiming my boyfriend just to prove he could. Now, I am trapped in the Miller family tree with a step brother who loathes me. Between the holy lies of our parents and a shared bathroom that has become a hunting ground, I am drowning. Derek uses my stolen sketchbook and a leather belt to remind me I am nothing but a toy, his favorite plaything. I was desperate for a shoulder to lean on. I thought I had finally found a savior in a gentle stranger who pulled me from the wreckage of a rainy night. But as the masks slip, I am realizing the truth. I thought Derek was the monster, but my knight in shining armor may be the actual devil.

Chapter 1

The Sketchbook Debt

Gabriel's POV

"Is that me, Gabriel? What the fuck? I knew you were weird, but I didn't know you were a fucking pervert."

The voice cut through the silence of the art hall like a jagged blade. I didn't even have to look up. My blood had turned to ice instantly, my heart hammered a painful rhythm against my ribs as I frozed. Before I could even think of slamming my sketchbook shut and running away, a large muscled hand snatched it from my desk.

It was Derek Miller, my cruel bully and my insane crush. I raised my head to look at him, he stood over me, a cruel, beautiful smirk twisting his lips. He held the book high above my head, flipping through the pages with a slow, deliberate thumb. This was definitely my end. I wished the ground would open up and swallow me at that instant. I clenched the hem of my jean trouser tightly.

"Derek, please," I whispered, my voice cracking. "Give that back to me.... it's for practice."

"Practice?" he laughed hysterically. He held the book up in the air, showing the entire class my drawing. I had spent maybe five months sketching that in my book. It wasn't just any drawing. It's a naked sketch of Derek. Derek's naked body.

I craved Derek so much, since I saw his naked body in the baseball restroom. He was showering and I could see through the transparent glass. His insane long veiny dick caught my eye and made me instantly hard. Since then, I had obsessed over him, even though he constantly bullied me my body still ached for him.

The lab erupted in laughter. As their judgemental eyes scanned me from head to toe.

"Look at that!" Dorky glasses got a crush on Derek!" someone yelled from the crowd.

"Hey Gabriel, you are such a pervert, like a disgusting pervert. Shouldn't you be arrested right now?" another student mocked.

I felt the heat of a thousand sweats rushing down my face. My secret was out. Everybody have found out about me now. What if my mum hears about this? Or even the dean? I was just under scholarship here. I wasn't from a wealthy home like the others, any silly mistake from me I am out of Miller's college and my life would be totally over. What if my churchy mum finds out I like men, what do I do then? Questions flooded my mind and I had no one answer to any of them.

"Shut the fuck....Shut the fuck up all of you!" Derek barked, his voice sounding like thunder.

And then, the laughter died.

Derek's expression shifted. The smirk had totally disappeared, his eyes were cold and lethal. Suddenly a student from the front raised up their phones to take a video and in one blurred movement, Derek snatched the phone and slammed it on the floor. He didn't end there. He smashed the phone into pieces with his boots, the phone was left in pieces.

The whole hall went dead quiet reacting to Derek's anger. He had always been short tempered and an insane bully. He got away with everything he had done in school just for one reason. Derek was the only heir and child of Presley College founder. The only child from the third generation of Presley, he walked like he owned every room and every one.

"Put your damn phones away," Derek hissed. His breath hitching. "If I see a single video or hear this news reach the ears of our dean or anyone outside this class today, I will make your lives miserable. I will ruin your pathetic lives. Do you hear me?!"

They all nodded in unison, bending their heads to the ground.

The silence was heavy with genuine terror. Derek threw my sketchbook over to his minion, Conner. "Put this in my car," he said. And you, he turned over to look at me who was already trembling like a fish just out of water. His nose wrinkled, as he searched with his eyes from head to toe like I was disgust dirt.

"You are coming with me," Derek muttered. He spanked my head from the back and walked out of the hall into the hallway, I scrambled toward him. I mean who would dare disobey Derek's command. I saw him wiped his palm he had used to touch me and threw the towel on the hallway wastebin.

I know what I did was wrong, but wasn't that too far fetched? I wasn't dirty.

I walked right behind his back and Conner was just at his side. "My dad's making me go to some family dinner tonight. And you are playing my personal assistant to pay off your debt. My assistant broke his leg and Conner here, his tattoos are too much and my upright father hates that. Do you understand?"

"Ye...Yes I do" I answered immediately.

I had no choice. Derek was unpredictable, he could do anything at anytime. And one wrong move or word from me, my sketchbook could be in the office of the dean. I couldn't even deny it wasn't Derek in that book, my art skills were just so excellent. At this point I wished I was bad at drawing, why was I even that good? I shouldn't have brought this book to class. God please help me.

We drove off and arrived at the Miller estate. This was my first time, definitely the first time to be at an exotic place outside of school. The air smelled like expensive lilies and woodsmoke. My mum would love me to take pictures in a place like this, she was obsessed with rich men and places but never got one.

As we got down from Derek's red sport car, I saw a familiar figure standing right at the staircase of the mansion. I squinted my eyes a little bit and adjusted my glasses. "Oh my gracious Lord," I yelled almost too loudly, Derek tilted his head to me and bit his lower lip. His eyes screaming, "Don't you dare disgrace me."

I wasn't shocked by the amazing building. But standing right there at the staircase was my mother. She was dressed in a silk blue dress that looked so expensive and was definitely new. The way she dressed caused almost a million. Beside her stood a man who shared Derek's predatory, ice-blue eyes. From just one glance, I could tell that was Derek's father.

"Gabriel!" Derek! The heavens is aligning perfectly for us. I was just about to send a message to Gabriel," my mother beamed, her hand tucked into Derek's dad's arm.

"Wait, that's your son with my son?" Mr Miller asked, turning over to my mom.

She nodded, smiling at him. Her eyes glittered with love maybe.

The man, Richard Miller, gave a warm smile, "We are getting married, boys. Next month. And I am glad you two are already friends, now you would be brothers."

My world tilted instantly. I looked at Derek, whose eyes was fixed on his father. He looked like he was just drained of all his blood. He folded his fist so tight, his knuckles turned white. He was definitely never going to accepts me as his brother. His eyes burned with a different kind of fury, I thought at that particular moment he was angry enough to break his father's nose.
