MELANIE

I didn’t care about anything anymore. I scattered the whole room, crying loudly. Then I wiped my tears, walked to the closet, and started shoving my clothes into my bag. I didn’t want to stay here a second longer.

Jethro had raised his hand at me because of that woman. It was hard to believe. If someone had told me Jethro would do that, I would have rather died than believe it.

“Where are you going?” I didn’t answer. It would be useless.

“I’m talking to you.” He pulled me by the hand.

  • Caged By His Love   Happy Birthday

MELANIE’S POVFinally, after a long day yesterday, we were going home today. Jethro had been busy with his phone, though I hadn’t heard a word about the woman since the day before yesterday. I knew he was still in touch with her. Whenever his phone rang, he would look at it and excuse himself, and I hid the tears that came every time he did.“You’ll be accompanying me to the party,” he said, breaking the silence as the plane was about to land.“I’m not going anywhere with you.”“I’ve bought everything you’d need.”“I refuse to go with you.”“You’re not?”“Well, I’m not.”“Okay.” He nodded and brought out his phone. I looked at him angrily. He didn’t even know what today was, and he expected me to go to a party with him. I turned away.I flicked a look at him when I heard the name he used to address her. I hated hearing it, even though I still didn’t know her name.“Yes,” she said, and I frowned. I knew he’d put it on loudspeaker just to make me angry.“Remember that party I told you a

It would be useless.“I’m talking to you.” He pulled me by the hand.“I’m going back home,” I replied rudely, shoving my hand away from his hold.“You’re not leaving.”“Let’s see who’s going to stop me.” I kept packing.“What’s wrong with you?”I looked up at him with wide eyes, surprised by the question. “Me?” I pointed a finger at myself. “Don’t be hilarious, Jethro. I should be the one asking you that.” I paused, walking toward him. “What is it that I lacked that made you look for someone else?” I really needed an answer from him.“You're perfect for me” was al

  • Caged By His Love   You love her than marry her

MELANIE’s POVJethro can cheat as much as he likes. What matters to me is who is more important to him. He was meeting the woman I had seen him with yesterday, and today was the perfect chance to find out: her or me.I barely slept last night, not with the image of that woman and Jethro weighing on me. Every time I closed my eyes, the sight of them together kept popping up in my head and forced my eyes open again. When I finally did sleep, I woke very early, determined not to let him leave without my knowing where he was going.I couldn’t think of the right way to thwart his plans and stop him from meeting her.Jethro woke up and turned to see me sleeping. He kissed my forehead before getting out of bed and heading to the bathroom. The moment the door shut, my eyes opened and my fingers went to the spot on my forehead where he had kissed me.“I just hope I’m reading this the wrong way,” I whispered. “My heart will fall into pieces if what I suspect is the truth.”It took him a few min

  • Caged By His Love   A new Woman

JETHRO’s POVWhen she came out of the bathroom I was too engrossed with my laptop and didn’t even notice her presence, my eyes never leaving the screen.“Yes, mum,” I said, still fixed on the screen.“What about Melanie?” Mum asked. I didn’t look up, though I knew she was staring at me.“She’s already asle—”“I’m here.” She plonked herself down beside me, placing her legs on me. I looked at her, stunned by the sudden movement, but didn’t say a word.“Are you okay, my dear?” Mum asked, looking at her with a cheerful smile.“I’m perfectly fine, mum,” Melanie replied, cheerful, resting her head on my shoulder.“Is he taking good care of you?”“You don’t have to worry, he’s taking good care of me.” She stole a glance at me but got caught doing it.“I’ll call you later, don’t forget about the business,” I said.“When are you guys coming back?”“In a week’s time — I’ve got an important business party on the 28th.” Melanie turned to look at me instantly, but I didn’t look back at her.“Okay,

MELANIE’S POV“Melanie.”I heard Jethro’s voice behind me, his hand slid around my waist, pulling me gently against his side. I looked up at him.He didn’t say anything at first. His eyes moved from me to Kendal, and the expression on his face changed almost immediately. It was the look I knew too well. Kendal straightened. “Mr. Blackstone.” Jethro looked at her.“What?”She smiled, the kind of smile that was clearly meant to look seductive. “I was just telling your wife that you and I have known each other for quite some time.”Jethro’s brows drew together. I could practically see the question forming in his head. What the hell is this woman talking about? Kendal continued, seemingly encouraged by his silence.“You know, there are some things only certain people understand about you.” Jethro stared at her. I bit the inside of my cheek. She really wasn’t going to stop. “And perhaps if your wife wasn’t always so

  • Caged By His Love   He chose me

MELANIE’S POVThe following morning, I walked out of the hotel room beside Jethro, dressed and ready for the day. Today was for sightseeing. We had already decided to visit several places around the city before heading back to the hotel later in the evening. Jethro walked ahead of me as we made our way toward the lobby, his hands tucked casually into the pockets of his coat. When we reached the entrance, I slowed down. “Go ahead,” I said. He turned around.“Where are you going?”“I need to speak to someone. I’ll meet you outside.” His eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn’t question me.“Don’t take too long.””Okay.” He nodded and walked toward the waiting car.I watched him leave before turning toward the reception desk. Kendal was there. The moment her eyes landed on me, I noticed the brief flicker of surprise on her face. I almost smiled, I walked toward her.“Good morning, Kendal.” She looked me up an
