Episode 2

Selena's POV

I was in a state of panic and my first instinct was to reach out and grab Abigail's arm tightly with both hands.

But to my surprise, instead of mocking me, Abigail stepped back when she saw me about to fall. I looked at her with surprise in my eyes as I was about to hit the ground. Suddenly, someone caught me and helped me stand upright.

Before I could react, my sister Ava's angry voice filled my ears, "Abigail! Did you really dare to push my sister?"

I looked up and saw Ava's eyes were even redder. She seemed to be feeling a mix of anger, sadness, and humiliation all at once.

Evelyn turn to Ava who was wearing a black suit, looked at her with a confident expression and said, "Abigail didn't do anything wrong. She just gave her a little push, but she couldn't maintain her balance!"

"That's right," Abigail chimed in.

"It's clearly her own fault for not being able to stand properly and falling. It has nothing to do with me!"

"Oh, it's none of your business, huh?"

Ava pursed her lips and her seductive red eyes glared at Abigail with anger.

"My sister was willing to marry your pathetic brother, and he had the audacity to run away. He actually thinks he can leave at the middle of the wedding just because he is her mate?"

I could tell that Abigail had overheard our conversation and the anger inside her was building up!

"And who do you think you are, Abigail? With your fake curves, wide waist, and plain face. You can't even compare to my sister..."

Abigail was being pointed at and scolded by Ava, her eyes turned red and tears started streaming down her face. She grabbed Evelyn's arm and choked, "Mom, she..."

"What else can your mommy do?"

Ava's face darkened and she gritted her teeth while turning her attention to Evelyn.

"Go back and tell your pathetic son to never show his face in front of me again, or I'll beat him every time I see him until he's unrecognizable!"

Ava was known in our pack as the rebellious one, always racing cars and getting into fights.

Evelyn probably believed in her abilities to follow through with her words, and she spat out her response.

"You should be ashamed of yourself. You shameless girl..."

After saying that, she grabbed Abigail's hand and turned to leave.

"Damn you, Evelyn..."

Evelyn turned around to meet Ava's angry gaze, and she was so scared that she hurriedly ran away, taking three steps and then two...

"Sister..."

I embraced Ava's arm.

Ava whispered softly, turned to look at me, took a deep breath, calmed down, and said, "Hey, don't be sad! It's his loss. He doesn't deserve you."

I bit my lower lip, thinking about William leaving for good. It would be completely untrue to say that I wasn't sad.

"I'm fine, it's just grandma..." I slowly wiped the tears from my eyes.

My grandmother was diagnosed with a rare sickness a few months ago. A sickness that has no cure. One none of the werewolves healers could heal. And the doctor said she only had about a year left, so my parents went to the Cobbler house to move the wedding date forward.

Since my grandmother is most concerned about me, and her biggest wish is to see me get married to my mate, start a family, and live a happy life.

If my grandmother knew that William ran off to his ex-girlfriend and i rejected him and our engagement was called off, would she be able to hold on?

My face became heavy as I thought about my grandma's condition.

Suddenly, Ava placed her palm on my shoulder.

"It's okay, I have a solution."

I looked up at her and listened to what she had to say.

"Trust me, I'll be right back."

After saying that, without giving me a chance to respond, Ava walked towards the elevator and took out her phone to make a call, leaving at the same time...

I sighed. The wedding couldn't proceed as planned, so I had to go to my parents and inform them.

Just as I turned around while holding onto the hem of my dress, my ankle twisted, and I let out a low cry of pain.

Right when I was about to fall, a slender, white finger suddenly reached out from the side and firmly grasped my arm.

Writer's POV

When Selena was lifted up, she turned her head to look at the person who was holding her hand. What caught her attention was a handsome face with sharp and cold features, delicate and fragile appearance.

The man was dressed in a black suit. After helping Selena up, he quickly let go of her hand. He barely glanced at her and started walking towards the wedding reception hall.

"Wait a minute." Selena responded and grabbed his sleeve.

The man's eyebrows slightly furrowed, a cold light flashed in his icy eyes, and he turned back to look at the girl with delicate features.

Despite wearing makeup and a wedding dress, she looked too naive. With her round face as small as a palm and the innocent look on her face, she appeared to be a child.

Selena's small stature was the only impression she made on him.

Perhaps her big, clear, and watery eyes looking at him with a hint of sadness made him resist the urge to brush her hand away.

"Thank you." Selena softly opened her lips. She didn't know why her heart was beating so fast, and her palms holding onto his sleeves were sweating.

"It's nothing." The man's thin lips slightly parted, and he looked down at the small hands tightly gripping his sleeves. His Adam's apple bobbed, and he spoke again.

"Anything else."

Selena held onto his sleeves tightly and didn't give up. Looking at his rugged features, a bold and absurd thought suddenly crossed her mind, "Mr. Rufus, please marry me..."

"Jeez Selena! What's gotten into you? You can't just marry anyone out of the blue..."

Meeka snapped, but Selena quickly shut her out.

The man's dark eyes fixed suddenly, and there was a hint of surprise in his eyes.

For a moment, he wondered if this woman was crazy, or... insane?

Selena realized that her previous statement sounded crazy, and she was afraid that Rufus would think she was insane.

However, she had no other choice. If the wedding was called off today, her grandmother would be devastated.

Her grandmother was the person who loved her the most in the world, and Selena didn't want to lose her.

"Mr. Rufus, if you marry me for just one half year and six months, I can save your sister!"

Rufus was taken aback by her words, and his expression became even more confused and mysterious.

"Do you know me?"

Selena licked her dry lips and nodded, "My sister is your friend. I have seen your pictures on her phone."

Rufus Carter, the leader of the Carter industry and the head of the Moon Pack, was a mysterious and calm person.

Only a few people could recognize him.

Rufus remained silent for a moment, and his thin lips moved, "Can you really save my sister?"

Selena looked at him with bright eyes and nodded, "I never lie to others. If I lie to you, I will do whatever you want."

Meanwhile, the relatives of the Cobbler family, who had been informed that the wedding was canceled, were about to leave, but they didn't expect the wedding to actually proceed.

They sat back down on their seats.

As the wedding music played and the doors opened, Selena held onto Rufus' arm and slowly walked down the aisle. Everyone was shocked.

What surprised them was not just the change in the groom, but that the groom was incredibly handsome!

"Who the hell is he?"

"OMG!"

"He is fucking handsome!"

"I think I'm gonna faint.."

"Wait.. Isn't the groom Williams Cobbler?"

"What the hell is going on?"

Came the murmurs from the crowd.
