Nova POV

“ you sure your not one of his whores?” He asks his eyes back to that Ice blue. “You sure you want me to use your body as a hammer on another wall ?” I shoot back. Again his lip tugs up ever so slightly. The smallest of signs that he may of found me the slightest bit funny. But just as before he’s quick to mask it and we are right back to the stone cold douchebag. “ how much have the heretics told you?” He asks casually while shooting Luca a strange look.

I glance at Luca to see he has his arm around the back of my seat part of me prickles at the idea of this upsetting Matt. He’s been nothing but rude since the moment I left got here so why am I concerned about him being annoyed. “ I’ve been given a brief. Pack treaty’s to be signed, pack members have been killed from a few packs, on the brink of wolfy war” Luca snickers next to me before composing himself and putting on a stern face.

“Yes that about sums it up” Matt agrees. “Here’s what I want you to do Nova , spend some time around the pack meet the pack, attend the alpha meetings with me and Luca. Once the treaty’s are signed you can return to what ever it is you do with those sparkler hands of yours” he snarls. Goddamn this guy blows hot and cold and seems to severely underestimate me. Luca turns to me to ask a question but stops himself. “Go on Luca ask me” i have a feeling I know what he wants to ask. “What kind of stuff can you actually do with your powers ? If things go bad can we rely on you for help?” Matt is laughing hysterically from his seat now.

No care for my presence he actually laughs at the idea of me helping them. “ Luca you can’t be serious ?! You think some little 12 year old heretic can help us if we end up in a war ? What’s she going to do ? Put on a firework display ?” He’s laughing so hard it takes him a moment to realise. Luca however gasped in shock about 20 seconds ago. “Wait why am I floating ?!” Matt demands. “ not just you dumb ass everything is floating , Novas doing it” Luca laughs.

I glance to Matt hoping to see some kind of acknowledgment of my powers , maybe he could be some what impressed instead he looks bored. I drop the magic and every sofa in the room falls to the floor with a thump. “ cheap parlour tricks” he growls at me as he leaves the room. “ he’s impressed I’ll bet money on it” Nala pipes up. “You don’t have any money” I remind her. “True but if I did I’d put it all on him being impressed and maybe a little turned on. Does he feel familiar to you?” She asks. I think about it for a moment. Honestly I do feel like I know him but seeing as i haven’t met him before I know it’s not possible maybe what she’s picking up on is my strong dislike for his arrogance. “No” I send back to her “now behave or I’ll cancel our shift tomorrow night”.

It’s a bluff we both know I love the runs as much as her and shifting always gives me a strong sense of freedom but I try my hand at bullshitting her anyway. Luca pulls me from my thoughts as an alert has been sent through the packs mind link.

“Introducers have been detected on the western boarder” he huffs while running to the door.I follow closely behind him knowing it’s time to start working. Once out the front of the pack house he climbs in his jeep. “Aren’t you going to shift ?” I ask confused that he’d rather be in human form. “There’s already 8 of our pack on the boarder in wolf form. Sometimes we need someone around with opposable thumbs” I fight the giggle and close my door ready for what ever awaits us on the border.
