Her chest heaved as she struggled, not just against him, but against the heat pooling between her thighs, the shameful ache pulsing through her limbs.

With a grunt of defiance, she twisted her body just enough to free one wrist from his grasp.

Then she slapped him. As hard as she could manage. Her palm cracked across his cheek with sharp, furious precision. The sound echoed off the trees like a gunshot and pain radiated though her open hand.

His head turned as though with the force of the blow, though she knew that was for show, his jaw tightened… and then he looked back at her.

Eyes glowing with a slight ring of gold that stopped Aria’s breathing. His smile was feral.

Lips parted like he might kiss her. Or bite her maybe.

“You really shouldn’t do that,” he said, voice almost gentle, his fingers tightening slightly on her wrists after he had quickly regained her other hand in his grasp. “But damn, it turns me on when you fight.”

“Let me go,” she spat.

“No.”

His body pressed into hers

She finished eating quickly, the silence loud around her. And then she made a decision.Again.If she could walk out of a nightmare and wake up unbroken, healed in ways that made no sense… maybe she could push her luck further.Maybe this time, she wouldn’t fail. Maybe this time… she’d actually get away. She couldn’t just sit here and accept her fate. She dressed in a similar outfit she'd worn before, leggings, t-shirt, sneakers. She filled her bag with food, water, and anything she could find that she thought might be useful. Her heart beat was steady and loud in her ears, but she didn’t falter. She’d memorized the halls by now. She made her way directly to the huge front door of the house. She noted how it, like her hand had been completely repaired, the glass pain that Kieran had shattered days earlier showing no signs of any damage. She needed out of this place where nothing made sense. She pulled the door open and moved quickly across the grass of the clearing, her heart poundin

The cold tiles of the bathroom floor had offered no comfort.Curled on her side, she was still wearing her mud stained leggings and vest, coated with a layer of fear and humiliation, Aria cried herself into the kind of sleep that wasn’t restful, just a surrender. Her body ached from the exertion, her mind even more so. The wolf’s snarling face still burned behind her eyelids every time she closed them. Its yellow eyes, the flash of its teeth, the final deadly lunge. She'd been sure that was it. That she would die alone, deep in the woods, reduced to nothing more than a body to be found… or never found at all.The sounds of the running shower lulled her into a deep sleep, where she was consumed by vivid, terrifying dreams. Wolves prowling just beyond sight, shadows moving too fast, teeth flashing. She ran and ran and never got away. And in the center of it all, a presence lingered. Watching. Waiting. It was monstrous. It was male. And it whispered her name like it belonged to him.She

He didn’t speak for a long moment. When he did his voice was low and grim. “It wasn’t supposed to get this close. I should’ve smelled it earlier.”She stiffened in his arms. He should have smelled it?What kind of man said that?Aria blinked rapidly, panic flaring again. “Are there more like that?”He hesitated.“There are worse.”Her mouth opened but no words came. She felt something in her crack wide open, a dam, a wall, whatever thread of denial had been holding her world together. It shattered. They broke through the treeline, the mansion looming ahead in the fading light like some ancient fortress. The sprawling lawn was quiet, but Aria noticed shadows shifting near the entrance, people. Staff, maybe. Guards. She couldn’t tell. A few of them paused, bowed their heads slightly as Kieran passed, eyes wide. Or was that… fear? Her heart climbed higher into her throat.Inside, the halls were warm and golden, but Aria barely noticed. Her vision had become blurred. Her body sagged, too

It lunged.Everything else happened too fast to make sense of.One second, death was hurtling toward her, eyes wild and teeth bared. The next everything was a blur. A sound like wind and thunder crashing together filled her ears. The wolf was ripped from midair, colliding with something far more powerful than itself. They crashed to the forest floor in a blur of snarls, yelps, and snapping jaws. Aria hit the dirt hard, the impact knocking the breath from her lungs. Leaves and dust clung to her torn clothes as she scrambled back on her elbows, wide eyes darting toward the chaos. The wolf was struggling, trying desperately to fight back but not for long. The figure standing over it was unmistakable. It was Kieran. But not the man she knew, well at least kind of knew, not really. This was something else entirely. Something inhuman. His broad, bare chest heaved with adrenaline, glistening with sweat and smeared with blood, some seemed to be his, but most of it was not. His eyes glowed fai

The next morning, Aria woke up with one goal in mind. Escape. She dressed quickly, slipping into a pair of black gym leggings, a fitted sports bra, and a loose vest over it. She pulled on a zip up hoodie, covering herself as much as possible. She needed to blend in, to not draw attention. Even though she knew from the reactions she got yesterday that would be impossible.A small backpack sat on the shelf in the wardrobe next to Kieran’s clothes. She didn’t hesitate, she grabbed it and slung it over her shoulder. If she was going to run, she needed supplies.Downstairs, the same lavish breakfast spread awaited her. She glanced around, her heart racing when she realized Kieran wasn’t there.Perfect. She wasn’t sure she could handle seeing him.
