The heavy oak door slammed shut behind them, sealing Kai inside the king’s private chambers with the finality of a tomb. Torchlight flickered across ancient tapestries and gilded furniture, casting long shadows that made the room feel alive and watchful. Kai’s legs nearly gave out as the heat surged through him again, hotter now, more insistent, twisting low in his belly like a living flame.

“Please,” he rasped, stumbling backward until his shoulders hit the cold stone wall. “Kill me. Right now. Drive your dagger through my heart and be done with it.” His voice cracked, raw with humiliation from the public spectacle still burning in his mind. Sweat soaked his thin tunic, plastering it to his skin. Every breath came shallow and desperate.

King Darius turned the iron key slowly, the click echoing like a judgment. He stood tall, shoulders broad under his dark royal tunic, golden eyes gleaming with something far more dangerous than mere lust. Power rolled off him in waves, thick and commanding, mixing with his deep alpha scent of cedar smoke and aged wine. He said nothing at first, simply watching as Kai trembled.

“I am a freak,” Kai continued, words tumbling out as he slid down the wall a little. His hands clutched at his own stomach, as if he could hide the truth there. “This body betrays me. It can swell with child. I have hidden it my entire life, and you exposed everything in front of your court. Do not use me. Do not turn me into your breeding whore.”

Darius crossed the room in three measured strides. His boots thudded heavily on the woven rugs. He stopped close enough that Kai could feel the heat radiating from his body, but he did not touch him yet. Instead, he reached out and braced one hand on the wall beside Kai’s head, caging him without contact. Up close, the king looked even larger, his jaw tight with restrained hunger.

“You speak of death so easily,” Darius said, voice low and rough like gravel underfoot. “But I have no intention of killing my fated mate.”

Kai’s head snapped up. “Fated? You scent me and suddenly decide I am yours? I am no one’s. Least of all yours.”

A faint smile tugged at Darius’s mouth, but it did not reach his eyes. Those eyes stayed locked on Kai’s face, tracing the flush on his cheeks, the rapid flutter of his pulse at his throat. The king inhaled deeply, deliberately, drawing in Kai’s scent. “Honey and wild spice beneath the fear. It calls to me across any distance. You are mine, Kai. The bond recognized you the moment you entered my hall. You will bear my heir. A child strong enough to rule after me.”

Kai shoved at Darius’s chest, but his palms met solid muscle that barely shifted. The contact sent unwanted sparks racing through his blood. “Stop saying that. I cannot do this. Pregnancy would destroy me. Your court will mock the male omega who spreads his legs for the king. I would rather you slit my throat than fill me with your seed.”

Darius caught Kai’s wrists in one large hand and pinned them gently but firmly above his head against the wall. Not painful, but inescapable. “Feel how your body responds even as you curse me.” His free hand hovered near Kai’s neck, not touching, just close enough for the warmth to tease. “Your scent deepens. Your thighs press together. The heat is eating you alive, and only I can end it.”

Tears slipped down Kai’s flushed face. He twisted against the hold, but the movement only brought their bodies closer. Darius’s thigh brushed against his, sending a bolt of sharp need straight to his core. Kai bit back a whimper, hating the way his own flesh softened and ached.

“I hate you,” he whispered fiercely. “You took away my secrecy. My freedom. Now you want to chain me with a child?”

Darius released his wrists but did not step back. Instead, he cupped Kai’s jaw, thumb stroking slowly along the sharp line of bone. “I offer you a place at my side, not chains. Protection. Power. Everything you have never had while hiding in the shadows.” His voice dropped even lower. “And yes, I will put my child in you. When you are ready. When you beg for my knot like the omega you are.”

Kai’s knees buckled. Darius caught him easily around the waist, pulling him flush against his chest. The king’s heartbeat thundered steady and strong under Kai’s ear. For a moment, the heat eased slightly, as if the alpha’s nearness offered temporary mercy. But then the bond stirred, a warm golden thread tightening in Kai’s chest, tugging him closer despite every instinct screaming to run.

“Release me,” Kai mumbled into the fabric of Darius’s tunic. His fingers curled into the cloth anyway, gripping as another wave of heat crashed over him. “I cannot think when you hold me like this.”

“That is the point,” Darius murmured against his hair. “You have fought alone long enough. Stop fighting what you are.”

He walked Kai backward toward the center of the room, guiding him with careful steps until the backs of Kai’s knees hit the edge of the massive bed. Furs and silk piled high, all carrying the king’s scent. Kai sank down onto it, breathing hard, legs shaking too much to stand anymore. Darius loomed over him, eyes dark with desire, yet his hands remained surprisingly gentle as he brushed damp strands of hair from Kai’s forehead.

“You bit your lip bloody from holding back moans in the hall,” Darius observed quietly. “I watched every second. The way you tried to hide your slick. The way your eyes kept finding mine even as you begged the guards to release you.”

Kai turned his face into the furs, ashamed. “Do not speak of it. The humiliation was enough.”

Darius knelt on the bed, one knee sinking into the mattress beside Kai’s hip. The shift in weight made the bed dip, rolling Kai slightly toward him. “There is no shame in being an omega. Especially not my omega.” His fingers traced the collar of Kai’s tunic, pulling it aside to expose the slender neck and collarbone. “Let me give you relief.”

Before Kai could answer, Darius leaned down and sank his teeth into the junction of neck and shoulder. The bite was deep enough to break skin, possessive and claiming. White-hot pleasure-pain exploded through Kai. He arched off the bed with a sharp cry, hands flying up to clutch Darius’s shoulders. The mark burned, then throbbed, sending pulses of warmth straight into the heat raging inside him. The bond flared brighter, wrapping tighter around his heart.

“Ah—!” Kai gasped, body shuddering. His legs parted slightly without his permission, hips twitching upward. The sensation overwhelmed him, fear and unwanted arousal tangling together until he could barely breathe. Tears flowed freely now. “You marked me… like property.”

Darius licked the fresh wound slowly, tasting the copper of blood and the sweetness beneath. He pulled back just enough to admire the imprint of his teeth, already darkening into a vivid claim mark. Satisfaction gleamed in his eyes. “Not property. Mine. Every alpha in the kingdom will see this and know to stay away.”

Kai touched the bite with trembling fingers, wincing at the tenderness. Yet the pain mixed with a deep, pulling comfort that terrified him more than anything else. The bond tugged insistently, urging him to bare his throat again, to submit. He fought it, rolling away to curl on his side.

“I will never forgive you for this,” he said, voice muffled by the furs. His body still shook, caught between the easing heat from the mark and the rising need for more. “You forced your way into my life. Now your teeth are in my skin. What comes next? You take me while I am too weak to fight?”

Darius stretched out beside him but kept space between their bodies. He rested on one elbow, watching Kai’s every breath, every small twitch. “I could take you now. Your body is ready. Slick, open, desperate.” His voice roughened. “But I will not. Not tonight. You will come to me willingly, eyes clear, begging for your king’s cock and his seed.”

Kai laughed bitterly, the sound breaking into a moan as another cramp hit him. “Arrogant bastard. I would die first.”

“Yet you lean toward me even now,” Darius pointed out. He did not touch, but his presence alone soothed the worst edges of the heat. “The bond pulls us both. Fight it all you want. It only makes the eventual surrender sweeter.”

Silence fell for a long moment. The hearth crackled softly in the corner, and distant night winds whispered against the high windows. Kai’s breathing gradually slowed as exhaustion crept in. The mark on his neck pulsed warmly, a constant reminder of the king’s claim. He hated how safe it made him feel, how the terror in his chest eased whenever Darius stayed close.

“Why me?” Kai finally whispered, turning just enough to meet the king’s gaze. “There are obedient omegas who would beg for this honor. I am broken. Defiant. Worthless for your perfect heir.”

Darius’s expression softened by a fraction. He reached out and traced the edge of the bite mark with one finger, careful not to press. “Because fate does not choose the easy path. It chooses the one who will challenge me. Strengthen me. You carry fire I have not seen in years. Our child will need that fire to rule.”

Kai closed his eyes, too tired to argue more. The bond wrapped around him like invisible arms, pulling him toward sleep and toward the man lying beside him. He felt Darius shift, moving off the bed to give him space. The king walked to a side table, poured water, and returned to set the goblet within reach.

“Rest,” Darius ordered quietly, voice carrying the weight of royal command softened by something deeper. “The heat will not break you tonight. My mark will help. Tomorrow we speak more of what lies ahead.”

Kai drank the water with shaking hands, then collapsed back onto the pillows. His body still ached with need, but the sharp edge had dulled. Unwanted attraction simmered beneath the fear, the mate bond working its quiet magic against his will. He watched through half-lidded eyes as Darius settled into a heavy chair near the bed, guarding him instead of claiming him fully.

The king’s golden eyes never left him. “Sleep, little mate. You are safe behind these locked doors.”

As unconsciousness tugged Kai under, he felt the invisible threads of the bond tightening, drawing their fates closer. Power, desire, and resistance swirled between them in the quiet chamber, promising many more battles before any true surrender. The night stretched long, filled with the king’s steady watch and the omega’s restless dreams of strong hands and golden eyes that refused to let him go.

Kai stood naked in front of the tall polished mirror inside the royal den, staring at his own body in growing horror. His once flat stomach was now prominently rounded, the skin stretched tight and warm. He looked four or five months pregnant instead of barely a week. He ran his hands over the swell, feeling the strong, steady kicks from within.“This is madness,” he whispered. “How can this be happening so fast?”Darius appeared behind him, wrapping his powerful arms around Kai’s waist and resting both large hands on the swollen belly. “You look incredible,” he murmured against Kai’s neck, kissing one of the many bite marks. “Carrying my heir suits you.”Kai leaned back against him, torn between the comfort of the touch and his rising panic. “I feel like a stranger in my own body. Every hour it gets bigger. The child is so active already. I can barely think straight.”Before Darius could reply, a sharp knock echoed through the chamber. A servant’s nervous voice came through the door.

The next morning, Kai could barely stand without feeling dizzy. His belly had grown even larger overnight, now visibly rounded and heavy under his robes. Every movement reminded him of the life developing at an impossible speed inside him.Darius helped him dress in fine dark silks that tried to hide the swell. “The Silver Council has demanded to see you. They heard what happened at the feast last night. We cannot avoid this.”Kai placed both hands on his stomach, feeling the strong flutter of movement. “They already hate me. That alpha called our child the Void Wolf. What if they try to kill me the moment I walk in?”Darius cupped Kai’s face with both hands, golden eyes intense. “They will not touch you. You are my mate. My Luna. Walk beside me with your head high. Let them see your strength.”Kai nodded nervously as they made their way to the grand council chamber. The tall silver doors opened, revealing twelve of the most powerful Lycan elders seated around a curved stone table. Th

Kai woke with a gasp, his hand flying to his stomach. The skin there felt tight and warm, noticeably rounded in a way that should have been impossible after only one night. His heart hammered against his ribs as he stared down at the gentle swell.“No… this cannot be happening,” he whispered, voice trembling.Beside him, Darius stirred and pulled Kai back against his broad chest. The king’s golden eyes opened, glowing faintly in the morning light filtering through the high windows of the royal den. “You feel it already,” Darius said, his deep voice still rough with sleep. “Good. That means the bond is working.”Kai turned sharply, eyes wide with panic. “Good? Look at me! My belly is already growing. I can feel it. It is heavy, like something is alive and moving inside. How is this possible? We only… you only knotted me last night.”Darius sat up slowly, the furs sliding down his powerful body. He reached out and placed one large hand over Kai’s swollen stomach, rubbing it gently. “You

The brutal wave of heat slammed into Kai like a storm, tearing a desperate cry from his throat as he woke burning and empty.“Gods, please,” Kai gasped, writhing on the ruined sheets, his body slick with sweat and fresh arousal. “I cannot take this anymore. It hurts inside. Make it stop, Darius. Do something.”Darius rolled over him instantly, golden eyes blazing with raw need. He pinned Kai’s wrists above his head with one hand and used his knees to spread his thighs wide. “You want me to stop the pain? Then say it clearly. Beg your king to fill you. Beg me to breed you properly this time.”Kai shook his head frantically even as his hips lifted off the bed, seeking contact. “I should not want this. You forced the mark on me. You locked me away. Now my body betrays me completely. If you enter me now, there is no going back.”Darius rubbed the thick head of his cock against Kai’s dripping entrance, coating himself in the slick. “There was never any going back. You are my fated mate. Fe

The heavy afternoon light spilled across the royal chambers, catching Kai mid-gasp as another brutal wave of heat slammed through him."You cannot keep teasing me like this," Kai panted, pushing weakly at Darius's bare chest. His back pressed into the messy sheets, thighs still trembling from the last release. "Every touch makes it worse. Just finish it or let me suffer alone."Darius hovered above him, golden eyes dark with hunger, his thick cock resting heavy against Kai's slick thigh. "Finish it? You mean knot you and fill you with my heir right now?" He rocked his hips slowly, letting the hot length drag along Kai's crease. "You are not ready to beg properly yet, little mate."Kai shuddered at the contact, a fresh gush of slick coating them both. "I will never beg. This is torture. Your marks burn, your scent is everywhere, and my body... it keeps opening for you. I hate it.""You say that," Darius murmured, leaning down to brush his lips along the cluster of bites on Kai's neck,
