Ethan's POV

Davel and I walked out of Adrian's cabin together after taking the approval of Adrian for fixing the appointment schedule with Leon's secretary and preparing the rough structure for the upcoming meeting.

The moment the cabin doors closed behind us, Davel suddenly looked at me sideways with visible amusement.

"Why did you sound so amazed inside?" he asked. "Your eyes literally started shining."

I blinked before laughing lightly.

"Oh Davel," I mocked dramatically. "You are getting old

Ethan's POVAdrian sat at the head of the table. Leon directly across from him. I took a seat two places down from Adrian, close enough to be involved, far enough to breathe.Marco opened the presentation while I quietly steadied myself. We had put everything into this. Late nights, revised drafts, heated arguments over numbers and phrasing and which version of an idea was strong enough to survive a room like this. I had reviewed every slide so many times I could recite them in my sleep. But knowing the material and watching it unfold in front of Leon were two entirely different things.Marco led the first section, the resort concepts. What we had built wasn't a standard luxury pitch. It wasn't five polished versions of the same dream repackaged under different location names. Each property had its own distinct identity rooted specifically in where it stood. The Amalfi project worked with the landscape rather than over it. The Bali location carried a community framework we had already

"Remember the guy we met in your uncle's cottage?"Davel paused mid step.I watched him think deeply for a moment before realization slowly crossed his face."Oh."Then his eyes widened. "Oh wait. It's our Leon?", he ask with amusement. I shrugged nervously. "Maybe I can be wrong…""Hmm can be possible" Davel muttered, agreeing with me.It really did feel unreal. Leon? That Leon? The same guy who sat beside us near the lake drinki

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 86: Leon Vargas

Adrian’s POVHealing was irritating. That was the first thing I learned after being forced to stay inside the Budapest safehouse for over a week. Doctors kept calling it recovery. I called it torture.“Don’t move your shoulder too much.”“Take your medication.”“Don’t reopen the stitches.”Every sentence sounded like a threat to my patience. And Ethan became worse than the doctors.“You’re not supposed to lift that.”I looked up from the kitchen counter where I was trying to make coffee one-handed.“I’m holding a mug, not a car.”“That’s not the point.”His brows furrowed immediately as he walked over and took the cup from my hand before I could protest further.I stared at him. He ignored me completely. Interesting.Three weeks ago, Ethan barely argued with me. Now, he walked around the safehouse bossing me around like he personally owned the place. And somehow, I let him.He moved around the kitchen quietly while sunlight poured through the windows behind him. The oversized sweater s

Ethan’s POV:Sleep never came peacefully anymore. Not after the blood, the screams, seeing Adrian standing there bleeding because of me.The safehouse room was dark and silent except for the rain softly hitting the windows outside. I lay curled beneath the blanket staring blankly into nothing while exhaustion dragged heavily against my body. But every time I closed my eyes—I saw it again. The blade. The blood. Adrian throwing himself in front of me.My chest tightened painfully. I turned onto my side quickly trying to breathe normally. It’s over. You’re safe. He’s safe. But my mind wouldn’t listen. Because deep down something ugly had already started whispering inside me."People get hurt around you."I squeezed my eyes shut hard.No.But the memories came anyway.Mom screaming my name. Dad holding me behind him. Men shouting and glass breaking.Blood. Always blood.A shaky breath escaped me.The debt collectors came when I was fourteen. My parents borrowed money trying t

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 84: Smoke and Blood

Seraphina’s POV:The warehouse smelled like blood, rust, and burnt wires.Cold rain hammered against the metal roof overhead while dim yellow lights flickered across the underground room. The man tied to the chair in front of us was barely conscious now.Good.Nick leaned against the steel table nearby cleaning blood from his knuckles while two guards stood near the entrance silently. The masked attacker coughed weakly, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth onto the concrete floor.Still refusing to talk.I exhaled smoke slowly from between my lips while watching him struggle to breathe.Pathetic.“You people really have impressive loyalty,” I muttered calmly. The assassin spat blood near my boots.“Go to hell.”I tilted my head slightly. Then smiled.“You first.”I stepped forward and grabbed his jaw hard enough to force his head upward. His face was swollen beyond recognition now from hours of interrogation.Yet still—No answers. My irritation grew.“Who hired you?”Silence.

Adrian’s POV:The room went silent after Ethan’s words.“The man downstairs called you boss.”For one dangerous second, nobody moved. I watched the thoughts forming behind Ethan’s exhausted eyes. Confusion. Suspicion. Fear. He was trying to connect pieces that were never supposed to fit together. Before I could speak, Nick stepped forward smoothly. “That was me.”Ethan blinked slowly and looked toward him. Nick kept his expression calm. Controlled. “I manage part of Adrian’s Budapest office operations when he’s away. Old habit.” He shrugged lightly. “I call him boss sometimes.”The tension in Ethan’s face loosened slightly, though not completely. “And Seraphina?” he asked weakly.Seraphina crossed her arms calmly. “I work under him too.”Technically true. Just not in the way Ethan thought.Nick gave me a subtle glance telling me he’d handle the rest. Good. Because right now my mind was too exhausted to keep building lies without slipping.“We’ll step outside,” Nick said finally.Se

Third Person POV“There should be no mistake… and make sure no one sees you.”The voice was low, controlled yet edged with firmness like a warning. The back gate lobby of the club was a stark contrast to the chaos inside. Adrian’s POVI had few drinks, and on top of that a cigar, had made my head light weight.
