"That infuriating, infuriating  man, I cannot believe he said that to me!” Kristen said out loud as she walked back and forth inside her empty room. She didn’t appreciate the decor of her room which she usually praised herself for as her anger blinded her.

On a normal day, she would stare at the beautiful decor of her room. She would have looked at the calm and serene painting of the sea that she had demanded to be put there. She would have stared at the soft tones of blues and greens as it had just been put there a few days ago. But Kristen was furious, annoyed infuriated. All she could think of was the annoyed words that she wanted to release on the infuriating bastard.

She had worn just the oversized T-shirt to annoy him, and to show that she didn’t care about the entire ordeal, that there was no way she would dress up for that. She wanted to prove to herself that she did not care what he thought about her and she had only ended up sorely disappointed.

The only thing she had managed to achieve was the anger boiling on the surface, ready to erupt. She had no idea why she had not expressed all the anger that she felt to him at the restaurant. She could not admit to herself that she was slightly scared of what he would do to her if she tempted him.

When he had shouted at her to sit down she felt tremors down to her toes. She had never felt that way before and it was a whole new experience to her. But she knew very well that she wanted him to use his mouth on her in other ways.

Stop it Kristen. Stop thinking of him that way, she chided herself.

The anger she was feeling was slowly fading to raw lust. The bastard actually looked very good and she would actually have considered dating him if he didn’t have a rod stuck up so high his ass.

“Talking to me like a little child,” she grumbled to herself as she plumped down on her pink bed.

She was still mumbling about how annoying Adrian was when a knock sounded on her door.

“Kristen, it’s me,” Kristen heard her mother say.

“Come in,” she said and the door of her room opened to reveal her mother. Regina Lancaster was looking as poised as usual in a nude coloured gown, which seemed more like an office dress, rather than just one you wore at home, but her mother seemed to pull it off.

“So,” her mother said, sitting beside her, her eyes shining with curiosity.

“How was the date?” She asked.

Looking straight into her mother’s eyes, she said, “I know now more than ever, that I do not want to marry that narcissistic bastard.”

“I don’t know who feels he is. Or if he feels we are in the eighteen hundreds or something. He has this idea that he can actually control me!” Kristen did not know when the words started spilling out of her mouth. She didn’t even realize it when she said more that she wanted to.

“Is that so?” Her mother asked, as sarcastic as ever.

“Mother please, I am serious. I refuse to spend another moment in his presence,” she said and her mother did the oddest thing. The older lady smiled, it was not one of those smiles that were a farce. It was a knowing smile, like she saw something that Kristen didn’t it. Kristen did not like the smile, not one bit.

“This is not funny Mother. Please talk to Dad, I know it’s important but I can’t do it. Maybe if it were the younger Tremont, then I would be more inclined,” Kristen said, smiling at the thought of Tommy.

She could not believe that Adrian and Thomas had come from the same parents, they didn’t look alike and neither did they act alike. Where Tommy was caring and nice, Adrian was more of an asshole.

“You would consider the younger Tremont?” Her mother asked. She didn’t smile as she did when she talked about Adrian, but nevertheless she looked curious.

“Adrian’s younger brother, Thomas,” Kristen clarified.

“His younger brother,” Her mother said, nodding her head.

“And you will be willing to marry this boy?” Her mother asked and Kristen was lost for words. She had not really thought that far. She just didn’t want to marry Adrian, but she was not sure she wanted to marry his brother either.

She had just met Thomas once, which was less than the three times she had met Adrian. She could not just judge him on one occasion.

A nagging voice at the back of her mind reminded her that she had judged Adrian with just their first meeting.

“I am not sure mom, but if it’s Thomas I will be willing to meet him again,” she said.

“Okay, I will talk to your dad about it and I will see if Clayton agrees,” Kristen’s mother said and she nodded her head. A feeling lightness had come over her, she felt like everything would be fine. Maybe she would ah e a chance with Theo.

“No!” Trevor Lancaster said.

“There is no way I am letting my only daughter get married to that, boy,” the veins in Trevor’s neck were already protruding. He could not believe his wife would actually make such a suggestion.

“It’s just a suggestion honey. Maybe they will go on a date,” she said again, rubbing circles in his back.

“I said no Regina. You haven’t seen this boy. You would wonder what your daughter likes in him. And besides, Clayton would never agree, he is leaving the company with his first son, he is way more responsible. That would be more beneficial to us,” he said, hoping that his wife would see reason.

“It’s alright; I was just hoping that our daughter would be able to marry for love. I only want the best for her,” she said.

“It’s alright sweet, don’t worry. I have a plan.”

“I cannot believe my father wants to set me up with that, that infuriating child!” Adrian shouted. He barely ever got angry, but it seemed that Kristen brought the worse out of him.

“I had half the mind of throwing her over my lap and spanking her ass red. She clearly needs to learn some manners!” He shouted again.

Gabe just looked at him from where he sat comfortably on his chairs, lazily drinking from his glass.

“You know they say opposite attracts,” his best friend said and Adrian glared at him.

“That doesn’t fucking count outside of romance novels,” he said.

“People need to have like interests before they get into a relationship,” he continued.

“Like you and Nina?” Gabe asked while laughing, slightly choking on his drink.

Adrian knew that he was the worse person to give relationship advice. He never dated, but he kept an open sexual alliance with Nina. She was an upcoming singer and he was a serious CEO, their worlds were so far apart and they had nothing in common. The only thing they vaguely shared in common was sex. He called her when he was horny and she called him when she was horny. It was that simple.

Adrian took a mental note to call Nina later; talking to the infuriating brat had turned him on much more than he would like to admit.

“Nina and I are not in a relationship, there is a big difference,” he said.

“I am pretty sure you are the only one that thinks so,” Gabe said and Adrian sighed. His friend was right; Nina seemed to be getting more clingy and clingy every day. Clingy was not something Adrian could deal with.

He really needed to end the alliance, it had lasted long enough.

“You may be right about that,” Adrian agreed.

“So what are you going to do about the child?” Gabe asked, Adrian could hear a teasing undertone and he rolled his eyes.

“I will talk to my father. There is absolutely no way in hell that I would let him force this decision on me,” he said. Gabe was still looking at him as though he knew something that Adrian didn’t.

“Is something funny?” He asked Gabe. The smug smile that rested on his friends face was beginning to get too annoying to bear.

“No, it’s just that I have never seen you so worked up about a girl before. Especially not one that you are expected to marry,” Gabe said and Adrian secretly agreed with him, he had never been so worked up, so bothered about a girl for that matter, most especially a girl that he claimed not to feel anything for. He did not help his cause the fact that he wanted to bite her pink lips until she whimpered, that he wanted to hear her scream until her voice was too hoarse.

He didn’t usually like sassy women, he liked women that were calm and didn’t argue that didn’t fight back. Kristen was none of those things. But yet she still aroused some kind of feelings in him, feelings that he could not name. If not for anything, he didn’t want to marry her for that very reason.

“I am not worked up about her,” he denied, his denial coming out more forced than he intended it to be, making it seem more forced.

“Whatever you say Adrian, I have a meeting in a few, I have to get going,” Gabe said while standing up to leave his office. Gabe was one of his oldest friends as they were friends from college. It said a lot as Adrian was not able to maintain long term relationships. The only people had known for so long were his siblings and he was not that close to them.

“No problem. I still have to talk to my father,” he said, putting on his suit jacket that he had left on the edge of his chair and walking out his office with Gabe.

“I will have to convince him that there is another way to go about this joining of companies. A wedding is not really so necessary,” Adrian told his friend and Gabe nodded. Adrian could not help but hope that his father would so that reasonable. It was a farfetched wish as his father was as old fashioned as they came. There was probably a marrying tradition somewhere up his line.

Adrian’s heart suddenly began to beat faster as he stood in front of his father’s office. He sometimes hated that their offices were so close to each other. He barely had time to prepare his mind for anything before he was at his office.

“Wish me luck,” he said to his bulky friend who was still standing beside him.

“Good luck,” Gabe said, tapping him on his shoulder and went on his way.

Adrian steeled himself for the worse and walked straight into his father’s office, undermining the receptionist that seemed to have an eye from him.

Adrian was greeted with a sight had become less unusual those days. Trevor, Kristen’s father and his own father were seated together discussing what would he would guess was the wedding between him and Kristen.

“Oh Adrian, come in!” His father said once he noticed him. Adrian reluctantly entered into the office. He wasn’t sure he would be able to reject the proposal as vehemently as he would when it was just his father.

“Good morning Father, Mr. Lancaster,” he said acknowledging the men in the room.

“Good morning Adrian,” his father replied.

“Sit down, we have a lot to discuss,” he continued. Adrian let out a tired growl but nevertheless dragged the empty chair and sat down on it.

“So, how was your date with Kristen?” Trevor Lancaster asked him. He was an older man, but clearly an intellectual if he could tell by the square glasses plopped on his nose. His daughter looked nothing liked him and for that Adrian was grateful. His dark skin was wrinkled around his eyes. It was a telltale of him being so serious.

Adrian wanted to tell him how much of a brat his daughter was, and how he would never think of marrying her. But he figured that would not be well received and so he kept his mouth shut and gave a stiff nod.

“Do you think you will be inclined to a marriage?” His father asked. Adrian was sure it was a trick question. He was also sure that what he said didn’t matter. His father would still do what he wanted.

“I don’t think I know her well enough for a marriage,” he said, hoping to hell that it was the right answer.

“That’s perfect! Trevor and I have a plan. The both of you can get to know each other very well,” his father said. Excitement was sounding in his voice and there was a huge smile on his face, one that told Adrian that he would not like what his father was going to say.
