Serena’s POV

I jabbed the power button on the remote with more force than necessary, the screen going black with a sharp click. The image of my mother's radiant face next to that creature's smile was burned into my retinas, making my stomach churn with a mixture of rage and disgust.

I threw the remote across the room, where it clattered against the wall and fell to the carpet. The sound was satisfying in a small, petty way, but it did nothing to ease the storm of emotions raging inside my chest.

"Damn you, Juliana," I whispered to the empty room. "Damn you and your perfect little life."

Sleep was impossible after that. I spent the rest of the night pacing the small hotel room, my mind racing between the creature's words and the sight of my mother looking so blissfully happy. Every shadow seemed to move, every creak of the building made me jump, but I refused to acknowledge the fear creeping up my spine.

I was done being afraid. Done letting my imagination run wild with thoughts of de

  • Curse of the Alpha demon   Dinner Confrontation

Serena’s POV I was still resting in my room, trying to process everything that had happened today, when a soft knock came at my door.“Mrs Lucan?” It was one of the maids. “Dinner is ready. Mr. Lucan is waiting for you in the dining room.”Mrs.Lucan. The title still felt strange on my ear. Part of me wanted to stay locked in my room, to avoid the inevitable drama that would come from sitting at the same table as Daniella and my mother. But I knew that’s exactly what they’d expect, for me to hide, to run away. I stood up, smoothed down my dress, and walked to the dining room with my head held high. I had to show them that I didn’t give a fuck about their opinions or their existence. When I entered the elegant dining room, everyone was already seated around the long mahogany table. Lucan sat at the head. My mother sat to his right, picking at her salad with obvious discomfort. And Daniella sat across from her, shooting daggers at me with her eyes.“Ah, there’s my beautiful wife,” Lu

  • Curse of the Alpha demon   After the Wedding

Serena’s POV When I saw Daniella standing there in the front hall, the memories came flooding back like a tidal wave. Florida. The law firm where I’d worked so hard to build my career. My boyfriend who I’d thought loved me. And Daniella—sweet, innocent Daniella who I’d trusted as a friend, who I’d confided in about everything. The same Daniella who had seduced Nathaniel behind my back while I was still building my life abroad. The same one who had somehow managed to get me fired from the law firm, destroying my reputation and my career in one calculated move. But as I stood there looking at her shocked face, something shifted inside me. Instead of the old pain and humiliation, I felt… grateful. Actually grateful that I had married Lucan.Daniella looked from me to her father, her face pale with disbelief.“Dad, why did you decide to marry again?” she demanded, her voice shaking with barely controlled anger. “And why her?”Lucan’s expression darkened instantly. His voice was cold, fin

  • Curse of the Alpha demon   Regret.

RykerI turned back to the TV screen, my chest tightening with each frame. They were showing more footage of the wedding now. Serena dancing with her new husband. Laughing at something he said. She looked happy. The sight of her in another man’s arms was like a knife twisting in my gut. Even after everything - after I’d thrown her out of the pack I still loved her. The mate bond might be severed, but the heart doesn’t forget so easily. Watching her smile at Lucan, seeing her hand in his, made something inside me break all over again. But I knew her well enough to see what others couldn’t. The way she held herself. The way her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. She wasn’t happy. She was pretending. And that made it worse somehow knowing she was suffering while I sat here, helpless and hurting. The question was: why? Why had she agreed to the wedding? What had driven her to marry a man she barely knew? What was she running from? Or what was she running toward? And why did it feel like l

  • Curse of the Alpha demon   Not letting this go

RykerI sat at my desk going through the monthly reports. Numbers and figures filled the pages in front of me, but I couldn’t focus on any of it. My mind kept wandering to things I didn’t want to think about. Serena. I couldn’t dwell more on my thought when I noticed a shadow beside me. I didn’t bother to look up, knew who they are already. The shadows started moving first. Then the whispers began. Low and angry, speaking in voices that made my skin crawl. Annoyed, I looked up to see them gathering in the corners of my office the demons that had plagued me for years.Their red eyes glowed in the darkness they brought with them. Their twisted faces watched me with something that looked like disappointment.“What do you want?” I asked, setting down my pen.The largest one stepped forward. Its voice was like glass scraping against stone when it spoke.“You let her go.”“Let who go?”“Your mate. You abandoned her.”I frowned. “Serena? What does she have to do with anything?”“Everythi

  • Curse of the Alpha demon   The wedding

SERENAThe morning light came through the tall windows of my room, but I couldn’t focus on anything except the white dress hanging on the closet door. Today was my wedding day. I should have been nervous, excited, something. Instead, all I could think about was Ryker. His face kept appearing in my mind. The way he looked at me that night. The way he held me. Part of me wondered if I was making a huge mistake. Here I was, about to marry a man I barely knew, a man who had already been married to my own mother. What kind of life was I walking into?I sat on the edge of the bed, my hands resting on my belly. The baby had been quiet this morning, like even they could sense something big was happening.“Maybe this is wrong,” I whispered to myself. “Maybe I should just run away.”But where would I go? I had no money, no job, only left with the house Ryker gave me. And the nightmares would come back. The demons would find me again. At least with Lucan, I was safe from all that.I got up and s

  • Curse of the Alpha demon   Surprised.

Serena’s POVI stared at this demon, contemplating what to do, but there was nothing more to think about. If he wanted me to follow him and that was the only way to take revenge on my mum and also the man who took my father’s life, then I was going to follow him.“Fine,” I said without looking up, but I could see the shocked expression on his face.“Okay, do you have anything to pack?” I nodded.I went to my room, dragged out a box and pulled some clothes inside. Within a few minutes I was back in the sitting room.A broad guy walked up to me, helping me with the luggage.“Come on, let’s go.” He offered me his hand. I stared blankly for a minute, knowing fully that taking his hand was saying yes to a devil, but I didn’t have a choice.I took his hand and he led me to the black car waiting outside.A guard opened the door and he gestured for me to step in. I stared at him for a few seconds before stepping in.He also sat beside me and the door was closed.“You can call me Lucas,” he sa
