Joseph POV
The morning after our wedding, I woke early. I lay in the dark on my side and watched Emily sleep. Bathed in the moonlight that was coming through the window, she was everything I wanted and everything I had ever hoped for in a wife. She was strong, had a sharp mind and quick wit. She was just tall enough for me, her head could easily rest on my shoulder.
I thought back over our wedding and smiled. When she walked into the parlor at the vicar’s house, I was astounded by her beauty. The sky-blue color of her dress matched so well with her hazel eyes and auburn hair. She was a vision. All I could think about the rest of the afternoon and early evening was how much I wanted to remove that dress from her shapely form.
When it came time to remove her dress, I was happy to know she wasn’t wearing a corset. The dress did a fine enough job of holding her breasts up and she had a trim waist. In my opinion,
Emily POVThe trip from St. Louis to Fort Pierre was enjoyable. Joseph and I spent our days getting to know one another, walking the deck, and watching the scenery as the steam ship made its way up the river. The morning we arrived at Fort Pierre; it was raining. Thankfully, by the time we were ready to leave the fort, the sun had begun to shine.I was adamant about walking as much as possible. I must say, that I didn’t realize how rough the terrain would be and so, when Joseph finally said that I had to ride on the cart because of the mud, I was never more grateful for anything in my life. I, of course, would never tell him that. The terrain leveled out slightly and Joseph decided that he wanted to push the horses so that we could make it to the creek before dark. With Thomas and I both riding the cart and Joseph on Apollo, we were able to travel much more quickly. I was happily surprised that the mule, Blaze, kep
“That cunny’s mine,” he growled out and before I could respond, he was sucking and licking my folds as if he were a dying man enjoying his last meal. He wrapped his left arm around my thigh, and placed his hand on my stomach, holding me in place. I think he was afraid I was going to flee. But with the pleasure he was giving me, why would I run? This is what I had wanted for the last two days. With his free hand, he spread my other leg to the side, further opening me up to his attentions.“Oh, I love this cunny,” he moaned, then I felt his breath as he lightly blew air on my moistened mound. I felt him slide his finger between my folders, I was so wet that it was no trouble for him.“Oh, my god, Joseph! Yes. Do that again!” I mewled and threw my head back.I gripped the bedding as his fingers rubbed my inner walls. We had been married less than a week, but he
Joseph POV Well shite. I thought. I looked at Emily and could see the concern in her eyes. I looked back at Da and gave him a look that said I was not happy with him. Then turning back to Emily, I explained, “In Scotland, where Mum and Da are from, it is tradition to be hand fasted. If we had met in the ole country, I would have promised meself to ye in front of our parents because the priest was not always in the area. It was part of the betrothal and after the bans were read and a year had passed, the priest would perform the marriage rites, if we both were still in agreement to be wed.” “But why is it so important, if we are already married?” she asked quietly, looking around the table. “It’s a symbol of unity between the pair of ye. And, since we did’na have the chance to be at the wedding, would ye consider allowin’ us to hold a hand fasting? It does’na change the words ye spoke in front of the vicar, we would just like to be part of it,” Mum asked, her facing smiling and plea
Emily POV Joseph and Thomas left just after breakfast to meet up with Brody and check on the beaver dam situation. It was definitely an issue because if the beaver were successful in creating the dam, it would affect our water supply. Joseph had told us over breakfast that once the dam was destroyed, they would set traps for the beaver and harvest the pelts for sale. I spent my time writing out several letters to my friends. I wrote to Hannah and inquired about her pregnancy and the ranch after telling her about Joseph and all that had happened. I also told her that Lizzy and her siblings were doing well, I knew that she worried about them, having been orphaned at a young age herself. My letter to Abigail included much of the same information, asking about Henry and whether they knew where they would be sent next. Abigail had written that they knew they wouldn’t stay at Fort Sill but she was unsure where they would be going. I was happy that she had found someone to protect her. Her
Joseph POV The days following our handfasting were busy. Emily worked with Mum to ensure the garden would produce the vegetables we would need to harvest before winter. It was important to us to produce as much as we could ourselves, so that we didn’t rely on the mercantile at Fort Pierre. By the middle of May, they had planted most of the vegetables we would need to sustain us through the winter. Each evening, Emily would share with me the things they were planting. She explained that while she knew about gardening, it was different here due to the weather. Here in the Dakota Territory, our winters last well into April and we have to wait for the last frost before we start planting. Her eyes would light up anytime she talked about all she was learning from my Mum and it made my heart glad. The two of them get on so well. They had planted lettuce, cabbage, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, and even some melons. Mum explained that they would plant potatoes and onions closer
Emily POV I knew when Joseph left yesterday morning, that he really didn’t want to leave. He was still worried about a possible stranger in the woods. Clara and I were able to persuade him that we would be fine. We both believed, and so did Brody, that it was just a passerby who was hungry. With the number of new people in the area it wasn’t a stretch to come to that conclusion. People were beginning to flock to the Territory looking for gold. Just a few weeks ago, there had been talk of possible gold or silver in the Dakota mountains. Most people were currently searching in the eastern part of the territory, while a few were venturing north. We hadn’t seen many adventurers in our area, but that didn’t mean anything. We all knew that eventually, they would come. But for now, it was still quite in our neck of the woods. After Joseph and Brody left, Thomas headed off to check the fox and rabbit traps in the northern
TRIGGER WARNING: THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS DISCUSSION OF MISCARRIAGE. IF THIS IS A SENSITIVE TOPIC FOR YOU, YOU MAY WISH TO SKIP OVER THAT PORTION OF THE STORY. I WILL PLACE *** WHERE IT BEGINS AND ENDS Emily POV It was getting late and Johnny walked through the house to my bedroom. I watched as he entered, no doubt, looking for any escape routes we may have. I heard him close the window and then he walked back out to the main living area. “What do you do to lock up the house for the night? I don’t want your man to come in and get the drop on me while we are sleeping,” he jeered at me. “We bolt the front door and then close the window panes. That’s all,” hoping he wouldn’t notice the large beam that we used to bolt the sliding doors on the side of the house. He nodded, “then get it done. I need to get some sleep before he gets back. I’m gonna be sleeping outside your door,
Joseph POVWhen we had Johnny subdued, I quickly moved to pull Emily from Thomas’s arms. He had done as I asked and kept her sheltered from the scene. I didn’t know exactly what would happen and I didn’t want her in harms way. Unfortunately, almost immediately after I gathered her in my arms, she began to retch all over both of us. It seemed as though she was going to retch forever, but finally it ceased.I gathered her up into my arms and carried her bruised and battered body into our room. I whispered to her words of comfort, hoping to calm her, for she was shaking from the aftermath of their abduction. I sat her on the edge of the bed and helped her to change into a fresh night dress. As I helped her to change, I took note of the bruises on her body. Bruises that I guessed came from the madman that I assumed was now tied up in the barn.I had to keep my anger in check as I helped her to slide into th
