Elias hit the floor with a sickening thud.

Silence swept through the chamber—heavy, suffocating.

Lena froze.

Her breath stopped.

Her soul felt like it was tearing itself apart.

“Elias…?” she whispered.

No answer.

He didn’t move.

He didn’t breathe.

“Elias!” Lena screamed, scrambling forward.

Her hands slammed against the barrier—still active, still separating them.

“Open it! Open the sphere—NOW!”

Sable didn’t rush.

Didn’t blink.

She tapped the console once.

The barrier dissolved.

Lena fell to her hands and knees beside Elias, gathering him into her arms. His body was warm—but limp.

Too limp.

“Wake up,” she cried, shaking him gently.

“Elias—please—wake up—”

She pressed her ear to his chest.

Nothing.

No heartbeat.

Her vision blurred violently.

“No… no, no, no—please—Elias—don’t do this—”

Her voice cracked.

“Don’t leave me…”

Behind her, Alexander sprinted across the chamber, sliding to his knees beside her.

“Lena—move—let me—”

She didn’t move.

She couldn’t.
