Mrs. Prudence tapped the microphone twice. The sound screeched through the gym, and everyone winced.

"Thank you all for a wonderful showcase," she said. "Please give our designers and models one more round of applause."

The gym exploded again. My knees were shaking so badly I had to hold the edge of my sleeve. I wanted to sit down, but I didn’t want to miss a single word.
