CARLY WOODS POV

Laying in the comfort of my bed, I pulled the warm covers over my face as I stared into the bright sky with an ample amount of stars scattered around the night sky through the open window.

The moon shined brightly like headlights on the interstate, a direct opposite of the gloomy and dejected state I was stuck in, silent tears soaking into my pillow.

I was in my fluffy maroon PJs, my hair sprawling lazily across my purple pillow that was steadily drinking in my painful tears, as I hugged my knee trying to comfort myself enough at how the last forty-eight hours of my life turned out.

The moment Alpha Jace pulled into the curb, I'd made a beeline to my room. I wanted to be on my own, I didn't care if Addison and the guys were crashing the night here or not. The only thing on my mind was to get away from Jace and his friends.

A shudder of disgust ran down my spine at the gruesome memory of the memory of the long minute drive I had to suffer through. That was the longest d

JACE BALDWIN POVSlamming the door open, I barged into her room with an annoyance visible as day on my face. What in the world was fucking wrong with Carly? My indignant eyes fell on the fair girl lying indolently on the bed without a care in the world, her luscious hair sprawled out on her pillow encased in a purple case."What was all that out there in the car?" My voice bellowed but she made no move to glance in my direction. Her back was turned to me as she faced the opposite side of the door, "You will answer me when I'm talking to you." My hand reached out and pulled her over by the shoulders, my heart stopped when I noticed the streaks of tears stain her cheeks, her eyes were shut, denying me access to gaze into her streams of pure chocolate factory.I was torn between my anger and her tears, I needed to put her in place, she needed to know when to be a respectful little girl and not humiliate my friends the way she did my Gamma."I get that you're pregnant and would want to

JACE BALDWIN POV"Alpha."I shoved my balled-up hands into the pit of my pant pockets, too angry to acknowledge anything."Alpha Baldwin, everything is ready." I looked away from the dark wall of my office to a rough-looking Taylor Wilson, one of my trusted warriors who stood in his regal outfit, his signature stoic look in place."I'll be in five," I growled out lowly but was sure he heard with his enhanced hearing and watched with my head cocked to the side as his heavy boots stomped out of the place. My eyes blazed in fury as I drove my fist into the wall, I was too angry to feel the split on my skin and the blood that broke free from the cut."I don't know what's stressing you out, but you need to calm down," Ian muttered in a low voice that was accompanied by enough strength before extending a white handkerchief to me, after swiping my right hand clean of my blood, I handed back the flimsy material to Ian."Yeah, and you need to shut the fuck up." I snapped It was a little past

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 67 - A FLYING PINK PIG

CARLY WOODS POV I sat quietly on the kitchen stool, slowly sipping on the bottle of water I placed before me.It was eerily quiet in the house. Alice was yet to return from her leave, there was a guard or two situated outside the house as usual.I had yet to set my eyes on Jace after last night's ordeal which to me was pleasant because I had nothing to say to him and I didn't want to deal with the awkwardness that I was sure would zoom in with him.Bored out of my mind, I took a walk to the park and enjoyed the warm and comfortable scenery with birds chirping up ahead on tree tops, sun rays glistened the green blades of the grass. Few people scattered around the entirety of the park, it was a school day, and children and teenagers were all lost in the school's bustling hallways or classrooms or doing whatever made their stay there worthwhile.I fed the crackers I brought with me to the pigeons by the tiny pond while lost in the darkness of my thoughts.Last night opened my eyes wider

ADDISON COBBLER'S POVI have to say, going to Lady Baldwin was the last thing my mind resorted to. Jason was gradually flipping sides without knowing the effects his action caused.I had sold a different story to the former Luna which she bought without questioning his son, then that little bitch had to open her mouth. It may not have turned out the way my mind played out but it was better than the worse scenario my mind played out as well."Take them all to the guest room on the ground floor, it shouldn't be difficult to get out from there."I stood in the middle of the neatly arranged room, the bed looked like it was pressed with a hot iron after it was laid, the tiled floor reflected my face from how clean it was polished out, and there was no single dust on any surface, even the massive wolf image on the portrait at the head of the bed looked glossy. The door to the closet was open and I had a few men gather everything from there to the guest room.Carly was too much of a low life

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 69 - I LOVE YOU ADDISON

We all quieted down as we started with the heirloom tomato salad with burrata cheese and balsamic glaze. The sound of our silverware was the only sound that wafted amongst us.I had to give it to the head omega, she knew how to whip up a good meal. The silence was a comfortable and peaceful one. It feels like ages since we sat together like this for dinner. Just the gang.If Jace requested a full-course meal for our friends in silent apology, I wonder what he has in mind for me.A coy smile snuck up my face, as I shoved my fork into the heirloom tomato before bringing it to my mouth."We should go on a vacation somewhere exotic for a week. What do you guys think?"Ophelia's annoying voice cut through the peaceful silence that washed over us, my eyes slicing at her.Does this girl sometimes speak from her ass? We knew we needed to unwind after all that had gone down this past month but now wasn't the best time for that."Yeah, we'll have a full week getaway, sunbathing and tanning by

JACE BALDWIN POVStorming out of the dining area that was the size of a regular restaurant, I found my feet taking me down the path that leads to the library, but I had zero interest in reading so I pivoted to the training grounds.A few men who enjoyed training at night bowed in respect as I padded toward the gym area. I needed some time alone, the privacy the open grounds wouldn't provide."Out!" I growled at those who were running the treadmill, lifting weights, or doing goddess knows what and watched in angry silence as everyone scrambled around the place like headless chickens.Matching forward to the red punching bag that dangled from the ceiling, I threw my fisted hands into its arduous surface. I was too piqued to acknowledge the slight sting of my splinted flesh. I needed to burn off some steam.I was doing this for her.The misery in her eyes when I asked her to not come before me for anything was something I never wanted to witness in her eyes but I had to for Addie's sake

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 71 - WHAT HAPPENED?

CARLY WOODS POVMy stay in the library made me feel good as I got lost in a romance novel I laid my hands on. It was quite intense and stimulating and I felt like sneaking it out with me.It was late in the evening from the grand clock that was attached to the library wall.9:27 pmI had to return to the safety of my room.I walked briskly down the large hallway that led to the ground foyer, my light blue Converse tapped against the floor, and my eyes hastily scanned through the ancient picture frames of all the past alphas of Brookside pack that were attached to the long hallway walls. With Very little time at my disposal, I made a quick dash to the kitchen bustling with omegas cleaning and arranging the place while some kept running in and out with trays of food for the in-house diners.I saw the middle-aged woman shouting out orders to her team on what needed to be done. "My goddess, to think it'll get better by the years." I heard the dark-haired woman mutter under her breath."Y

With no other presence in the house, I focused my attention on the body lying in a weird position, one of his legs was stuck behind his butt, the other bent awkwardly by the knee. His left hand lay a few inches from his head, while the right rested on his stomach."Jace?"I was so scared for him to put into mind how he'd react to me calling him by his first name.Jace had shown how far he'd go to push me away by changing my room the very next day he commanded I address him as an alpha.I must say, I was hurt when I realized he cleared out my room and shifted my stuff to a smaller one at the end of the ground floor hallway. The window view of my new room wasn't as great as the previous one that overlooked the woods, this one gave a view of the mansion's thick and heavy two-leaf brass gates. "Jace? Can you hear me? Wake up!" I shook his shoulders but knew he couldn't hear a thing, judging from how relaxed the taut muscles on his shoulders were.Cradling his head into my chest, "Come on

"Now that's a question," Darren smirked turning back to sit on the wooden cushion chair "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, leaning on the wall behind me for physical support since my knees were too wobbly and no longer able to keep my weight up.Darren was a known name around the Were community and a major threat to Jace's pack. The Brookside pack.I remember hearing his name a lot in Jace, Beta Ian, and Nate's conversation."We need to increase our training time with the pack warriors if we want to stand a chance against Darren," Nate offered his candid suggestion as they continued with their discussion over breakfast."Darren isn't dumb enough to risk an attack in the Brookside pack. He wouldn't want to dare me." Jace had countered with visible anger clear in his eyes."These are the outlanders we're dealing with, Alpha. We're talking rouges. Everyone knows how vicious they can be." Beta Ian had supplied, putting Jace straight when he tried belittling his opponent. It was the

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 100 - DARK AND DANGEROUS

I froze in time lost in the most beautiful dark grey eyes I've ever seen in my entire life, the pillow dangling behind my back. The man before me was the real definition of dark, mysterious, and dangerous. He was almost as tall as Jace but Jace still had a few 5-6 inches on him, he had a mob of black hair that was combed into perfection, and thick and long lashes cast a shadow over his dark grey eyes which were cold and menacing as he glared me down. His lips had a pink tinge which had me wondering if he used men's makeup or if it was natural. He had sharp jawlines that could cut a paper and his face was on full display and free of facial hair, his nose was perfectly sculpted on his face and his lips were drawn into a thin disapproving line. He had broad shoulders that were covered in a black suit jacket that was tailored and made for him, the top three buttons on his black shirt were popped to reveal the swirls of tattoos that decorated his skin and I found myself imagining what his

Darkness.Gross darkness.Gross and intense darkness. That was all I saw when my eyes fluttered open. My head craned in all directions, eyes darting around trying to get a glimpse of light from any angle. Disappointed, I briefly shut my eyes in disappointment when there was no trace of light, not even from a cracked wall or a sip of light from the space in between the door and the floor or a window. At this point, even the dullest light in the history of light will be appreciated.Where am I?I thought, tuning into my other senses since my sights were disadvantaged at the moment. I strained my ears in the hope of picking up on a sound but everywhere was eerily quiet. Almost dead.A soft lavender fragrance tingled my nose from the pillowcase my head rested on. At least one sense organ was responding when needed even though the fragrance couldn't relate any vital information as to what my fate was in this unknown place. But it was sufficient enough to let me know I wasn't tied up in

Needless to say, the man was way stronger and he easily overpowered and shoved me against the sturdy tree trunk. Instinctively, I snapped my eyes shut as pains shot through my growing baby bump. His hands held mine in a firm grip that caused pains to shoot up my entire arm and shoulders."Not so tough now huh?" Paul whispered breathily into my ear his left hand draping around my mid-drift, restraining my body from further struggles. My breathing was heavy as hot tears escaped my closed eyelids from the intensity of the pains my body endured. I could feel my baby wiggle in his position as the man shoved his weight into me, his breath fanning the side of my face."I don't think so, princess. You're going to stay quiet and do as we say if you don't want me ripping that bastard out of you, yeah?" I whimpered in fear as his words settled in my head, bile rose from my throat as the hand he draped around my waist snuck under the grey sweatshirt I wore over its matching grey sweatpants. His

"Look what we have here." Lost in my thoughts, I didn't take notice of the two men in front of me, until I bumped into one of them.I stumbled backward in an attempt to put some distance between us. The man I bumped into had a mop of black hair that was gelled back perfectly without a single strand out of place and sharp blue eyes that pierced into my soul. His friend also had black hair but his was free of gel."A runaway pack member?" The second man said easily giving themselves away as rogue wolves. My heartbeat picked up speed at the realization of what doom I'd run into. I should've been more observant of my environment maybe I would've avoided crossing paths with them."A pregnant runaway human who happens to be mated to a wolf."Great! I thought sarcastically when the first man's blue eyes became glued to Jace's bite mark on my neck. "The devil's in the picture." The second man said in a sing-song voice that could be easily mistaken for amusement if not for the wicked glint

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 106 - I'M NOT JEALOUS

CARLY WOODS POV I couldn't believe walking away from all this would be this easy. I didn't know where to go from here but I had to figure something out before it was too late.I didn't want to be in the middle of nowhere when night washed over with the thick cloak of darkness. The decision to leave was great but right now it didn't seem too awesome to journey alone to an unknown destination."Being the Alpha's fiance does have its perks you know? I've taken care of the patrol team in the south and Southeast borders the decision on where to go is up to you." Addison had said when I told her escaping a pack as big as Brookside was a dumb move only an idiot would try considering.I went south, and I wasn't too surprised when I didn't come across any patrol guards anywhere by the borders. Addison was a woman that wasn't afraid to make demands from anyone and she knew how to use her soon-to-be Luna to her full advantage.Because of my pregnant state, I couldn't run far, so I settled for

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 105 - SHE LEFT

JACE BALDWIN'S POV It was noon the following day yet, there was no trace of Carly anywhere in the pack, there was no report of rogues sited anywhere around the pack.Order then Ian and I spent our entire morning searching every possible place for the missing pregnant young woman, I had my trackers and a search team parading everywhere nook of the pack. "She was heading south when I saw her yesterday evening." "It's been a while since I saw Ms Woods.""Maybe she ran away with another man."The words from some people I questioned did nothing to ease the growing tension I felt neither did it ease the tightness in my chest. I didn't want to believe the worst."I think there'll be a clue in her room." I reasoned after six long unfruitful hours of a wild goose chase."You think she ran away?" Ian asked his tired voice doubtful yet there was a slight hope that he wished she didn't."I don't know what to think, man. I have a gut feeling she wasn't abducted, I don't know how, maybe it's an

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 104 - A BAR?

ADDISON COBBLER POV As the night dragged on, I watched in silent amusement as Jace tried to figure out what was going on with Carly's sudden disappearance from the house. "Give it till the morning Alpha, I'm sure she'll come back from wherever she went." Nate tried to reason with Jace but he was too far gone in his anger. "Gemma Nate is right, Carly loves disappearing to unknown places whenever she wants to be on her own." The gentle voice of Carly's friend piped in making me smile inwardly because they were unknowingly buying me enough time to get the omega as far as possible from the Brookside pack. "Where is the most common place she visits during one of her 'I want to go M.I.A'?" Jace asks the young omega his eyes are the darkest shade of black I've ever seen on him. Jace had requested she come to the mansion as soon as possible. He needed all the information he could gather before deciding whether she was abducted or hiding out somewhere. I knew better. The study room grew unnaturally quiet as the raven-haired woman rushed back into the room with her report."Carly enjoys spending her evening in the movie room or library.""Yes Alpha, I'll be right back."She pivoted back out of the study and immediately, a light chitchat started between the other occupants of the space.Ian and I discussed quietly the possible outcome of these meetings, if indeed a rat was residing in the Brookside pack, we were about to find out.Addison relaxed into her seat, her arms crossed under her boobs effectively pushing the twins into her face with a blank look on her face. Looking at her closely, I could detect amusement in her demeanor even though she tried hiding it from everyone.Nate sat quietly not engaging anyone in a conversation. His eyes were trained on the door in anticipation. My eyes stayed glued on Julian as he talked with Stan and Jean. The slight chuckle he released annoyed me beyond words as I imagined him smiling at my Carly after making
