Chapter Forty-Three

 Bernard paced up and  down in his home office as he looked at the text message on his burner phone. A growl of frustration escaped his lips as he glared at the offending message. He was tired of the constant excuses and hearing that another promising lead had become a deadend. Day after day, week after week, year after year it was the same thing. The one time he had been close to finding her and she up and disappeared. It wasn’t long and he was yelling and  cursing as he stormed out of his office. One of his maids was unlucky enough to pass him in the hallway. Bernard simply grabbed her and threw her over the railing. The maid screamed in terror as she fell from the third floor and landed with a sickening thud on the white italian marble floor.
