Javan says, his cheerful voice indicating that he’s smiling brightly. “I know Joshua can be a little… difficult, but deep down he’s a very friendly and good kid. I’m so happy you want to give him a chance to make up for his rude behavior the other night.”

“Of course I do,” Addison says, coming to a stop before her old apartment complex.

Even though she moved out a few weeks before the start of sophomore year, her aunt like older friend still insists on cooking her dinner at least twice a week.

Addison is very grateful for it – she misses her aunt more than she admits. Wedging the phone between her shoulder and ear, she fiddles her old key out of her pocket and unlocks the heavy entrance door. “I’m just nervous about Mia. I don’t think I’ve ever told you, but children scare me, especially the ones that don’t like me.”
