CHAPTER FIVE - RESOLVE FOR REVENGE

Amelia's POV

Sarah had just kissed Jeremy. My ex-husband. Not just my ex-husband, but the father of my child. And Jeremy, oblivious to the storm brewing inside me, simply patted Sarah's shoulder. It was just a casual gesture but it infuriated me. Jeremy’s eyes swept over the office, landing on me for a fleeting second before moving on.

Sarah meanwhile, turned back to her desk, humming a little tune. She caught my eye and offered another bright smile.

“He's always like that in the mornings,” she chirped, as if reading my mind. “A real workaholic. But he's a sweetheart once you get to know him.”

I offered her a tight smile. A sweetheart? My jaw clenched. I knew Jeremy. Sweetheart wasn't the word I'd use. “Right,” I managed, my voice a little stained.

The rest of the morning passed by quickly and the other staff came. Claire, a younger lady occupied the desk beside mine. Next was Sarah’s and then Mr. Clifford, a sadist whose response was a mere nod w

  • Dear Ex-Husband; Get On Your Knees And Beg   CHAPTER FOURTEEN

CHAPTER FOURTEEN - SERAPHINAAmelia's POVI kept scrubbing my hands. There was no blood on them anymore, but I couldn't get the nasty sight out of my head. Lucian had made me dispose of the body of the man I'd shot. After a short while, I grabbed a face cloth from the sink and dried my hands with it.When I walked out of the bathroom, I saw Lucian sitting on the armchair that was closest to my bed. His legs were crossed, his tie loose and as usual, a glass of something was in his hand. Scotch. "You'll rub your skin off," He said, leaning back slightly."Yeah, maybe I should," I whispered, walking around to perch on the side of the bed.He scoffed, a lazy frown on his face. "Oh, don't start the waterworks again."He didn't get it, did he? I turned to face him. "I killed someone."He raised his glass in a mock toast. "Yes, you did."I breathed in to calm my angered self. "You think this is funny? I'm a murderer. How do I look my kids in the eye and say that to them?"Lucian stood slow

  • Dear Ex-Husband; Get On Your Knees And Beg   CHAPTER THIRTEEN

CHAPTER THIRTEEN - GETTING MY HANDS DIRTYAmelia’s POVI wasn't sure what I expected after sealing the deal with the devil. Maybe a handshake or a blood oath. Lucian simply adjusted the cuff of his suit and said..."Get up. We're leaving."I wanted to question his order. I needed to know where we were going at least. He was faster than I, each stride exuding confidence and an untouchable aura. We got to the black car waiting outside.Neither of us said a word until we were halfway across the city and deep into unfamiliar territory. "Have you ever been to Southgate?" He asked, keeping his eyes on the window.I shook my head.He smiled without looking at me. "Good. That makes this more fun."The car pulled up to an unmarked building that was eerily silent. Lucian stepped out, and I followed. The man at the door didn't bother checking our names. One glance at Lucian and he opened it.Inside was mesmerising. Velvet walls and crystal chandeliers. What was this place? It even reeked of cig

  • Dear Ex-Husband; Get On Your Knees And Beg   CHAPTER TWELVE

CHAPTER TWELVE - A DEAL WITH THE DEVILAmelia's POVLucian Moreno was so damn unpredictable. More like, playful one second, lethal the next. He possessed a realistic maddening aura. What the hell did I even expect? He is the Don, after all.My heartbeat was erratic, hammering so loudly I was sure he could hear it. His eyes flicked behind me, toward the bouncer standing guard by the door."Leave us," he ordered. The man gave a small nod and disappeared. I took the moment to glance around the room I was in. Everything in here was a shade of black or grey. It matched him perfectly. I'd be a fool to take Lucian's smiles at face value. The smirk on his face wasn't friendliness. He may be grinning but I'd learned from Drake that no one made mistakes in front of Lucian. "Sit, lovely. I think we need to have a chat," he purred and my stomach did an inevitable twist. He walked past me, and just the brush of his shoulder against mine sent a chill crawling down my spine. I sucked in a breath

  • Dear Ex-Husband; Get On Your Knees And Beg   CHAPTER ELEVEN

CHAPTER ELEVEN - A VISIT TO THE MAFIA DONAmelia's POVMy jaw dropped. “B…But I'm family. I'm their mother.” “You have never been here with the kids. A certain Miss. Lena drops them off and comes back to pick them up. How can you say you're their mom?” She countered.I scoffed. Nice remark from her side but I was sure not leaving this building without my kids. “Why don't you call them out here and ask them yourself?” I suggested.“I'm sorry ma'am. But I cannot do that.”“Mommy!” Two familiar voices called out to me. A huge grin breaks on my face as I kneel and open my arms wide for my kids to embrace me. Caden got to me first and when Camilla rushed in, I held them to myself.“They are really your kids.” The lady looked from me to my happy children. “I'm sorry I didn't…”“It's okay. Now you do know.” I led my kids outside, glancing around the environment. I didn't know what I expected to find but I was just being extra cautious. I've been with Drake for five years, longer than I and

  • Dear Ex-Husband; Get On Your Knees And Beg   CHAPTER TEN

CHAPTER TEN - THEY ARE MY KIDSAmelia's POVI think I stared at the limo until it drove away. What was this feeling clouding my chest? Hate. Anger. Revenge. And certainly not jealousy. My ex-husband was married. This was news to me. I chuckled maniacally. I'd begged and pleaded with him not to leave. And he left me for that piece of trash? My phone's ringer pulled me out of my spiralling thoughts. Of course, it was Drake calling. If I answered it, he'd yell at me. I'd better save the yelling for later. Fortunately, the backup driver I'd called arrived and I got in. I didn't know what to expect when I reached the door to my husband's office. I mentally prepared myself for whatever it would be. I knocked on the door. “If it's important, come in. If it's not… get out.” Drake said from the inside.I inhaled and pushed the door open slightly. He was hunched over his computer, typing at the keys like they offended him. I was in a dilemma on how to approach him. Now, after what happened la

CHAPTER NINE - HE HAS MOVED ONAmelia's POV"Did you just... Did you just slap me?" Drake's indifferent expression confirmed the answer to my question. His eyes held a cold gaze and his arms were folded across his chest."Start talking, Amelia. You know how I can get whenever I'm mad. You do not want to mess with me."I opened my mouth to say something but closed it when no word came out. My cheek had swollen under my palm, evidence of what had just happened. Drake had a bad temper, and I had seen him lash out at staff and those who worked for him. Countless times, I'd intervened. Never for once had I thought I'd be a victim of his bad temper. The fact that he had just hit me was still shocking. I swallowed on nothing, biting on the insides of my cheek and willing the pain to go away. "I don't have anything to say to you," I finally said and made a move to walk past him but I was stopped by the pull on my hair. Drake grabbed my hair, yanking me backwards."Ouch! What has gotten into
