IRIS

“She’s teething,” Megan said, dropping Amethyst onto the floor. “Explains why I haven’t had any sleep since Monday.”

I grinned as I picked her up, taking her into my arms. “And she’s still the cutest thing ever,” I cooed. “Aren’t you, baby? I’m so proud of you.”

Amethyst squealed, her tiny fists grabbing my hair as I peppered kisses along her chubby cheeks. Her eyes were grey and wide, her curls wild. I tightened my arms around her. Amethyst had no idea how much I needed this—her warmth, her laugh, the way her fingers curled around mine like I was her whole world.

As much as I loved Megan for taking care of her, I couldn’t help feeling a little jealous of her. My daughter was growing attached to her in more ways than one. Megan had been there for her first words, her first steps…

Made me wonder whether it really was a good idea to keep this from Maverick.

“She’s really doing it,” Megan said softly. “She’s growing.”

“Yeah, she is,” I replied, narrowing my eyes slightly. Megan had

IRIS “More shots!” Megan yelled, a bottle of tequila clutched in her hand as she poured it directly into my mouth.I stumbled in my heels, already piss-drunk from the amount of alcohol I’d taken, but Maverick’s hand came around my waist, gripping me tightly.“Easy there, Angel,” he muttered into my ear, his voice sending shivers down my spine. “You don’t wanna fall, do you?”“I won’t fall,” I said with a giggle. “You’ll be there to catch me if I stumble.”“This is making me fucking sick,” I heard Dwayne groan from somewhere nearby. For the past thirty minutes, Megan had been drowning my system with alcohol, because, according to her, it’s “sacrilegious” to leave my own wedding sober. It had been a smooth thirty minutes, and it had been extremely satisfying watching a pregnant Eleanor rolling her eyes at us while she drank her sparkling water.Sebastian, however, was nowhere to be found. Not that I was looking, but I hadn’t seen him ever since we were at the church together, and even

  • Dear Ex-Husband, Revenge is Mine!   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SIX: GET AWAY FROM MY WIFE

IRIS Here he was.The man who had repeatedly tried to ruin my life and somehow still walked around like he’d zone nothing wrong. His demeanor was calm, his tuxedo sharp, his salt and pepper hair tied into a knot at the back of his neck just like always.I wondered how he looked when his hair wasn’t tied that way, when it fell on top of his shoulder. I wondered whether he would look more… human that way.Because right now, he looked like the monster he was.I swallowed hard, squaring my shoulders. “If you’re here to congratulate me, don’t bother,” I said firmly. “I already know it’s killing you inside.”Quentin laughed softly. “You think I give a damn about this wedding? Please. You walked yourself into hell, my darling. I didn’t have to do a thing.”He stepped closer, hands in his pockets. “Though I must admit… watching you burn will be entertaining.”I kept my expression still. “You’re wasting your breath, Quentin. I’m not leaving him. It was bold of you to think you could use Rhoda

  • Dear Ex-Husband, Revenge is Mine!   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE: ALL FOR NOTHING

IRIS If anyone had told me months ago today that I would be getting into a fake marriage with a billionaire after having his kid, I would’ve had them committed in a mental hospital. Then again, that wasn’t the worst thing that could happen to me—my mother dropping a fucking bomb on me on the morning of my wedding takes the cake.I heaved a sigh, lifting my gaze to glance at my reflection in the mirror. My father wasn’t dead. Not like I was forced to believe when I was younger. He was very much alive. I’d endured all that pain and suffering at the hands of my mother when my father could’ve saved me.“All for nothing,” I murmured to myself. “It was all for nothing.”I reached into my gown, searching the corner of my bra for the paper that I’d stuck in there.Rhoda had given it to me, right after she must’ve gotten it into her thick head that I was still going to marry Maverick and not abandon him at the altar. The Windsor Foundation. That was the only thing written on the paper. She w

  • Dear Ex-Husband, Revenge is Mine!   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FOUR: KISS THE BRIDE

MAVERICK The church was quieter than I expected.Even with the light buzz of the guests—most of whom I didn’t even know—and the camera flashes, something about the stained glass windows and polished pews made every single thing feel muted. Not my usual style. But this was what my grandfather would have wanted. A traditional Sinckair wedding. Big church. Big turnout. Cameras. Fake smiles. And as I spotted my brother seated near my father in the front row, his wife, Eleanor, by his side, all I could think about was how Iris must have walked down this same aisle to meet Sebastian. And how all the vows that they had exchanged had been for nothing.Much like what we were about to do today.I adjusted my cufflinks and glanced down the aisle. The music played on cue and Chelsea stepped into the church first, her little basket full of flower petals swinging in her head.Initially, I didn’t care for a flower girl. That was all Tania. She tossed the petals dramatically as she walked down the a

IRIS Here she was. Standing in front of me. Out of prison. Wearing makeup and a tailored pantsuit like she hadn’t tried to murder me all those weeks ago.Megan stepped in front of me instinctively. “Uh uh,” she gritted out. “No fucking way. Absolutely not.”“I’m not here to cause trouble,” my mother said, stepping into the room like she had every right to be here. “I just need five minutes alone with my daughter.”The word landed on me like a slap and I swallowed.Daughter.I couldn’t remember the last time anyone referred to me as their daughter. Not even my own mother.Instead, she had tried to shoot me the moment she was given a chance to.I swallowed again. Hard. And then I forced a smile at Megan. “Give us a minute, Meg.”“Iris—”“It’s fine,” I assured her. “I’m fine. I promise.”Megan’s jaw locked, but she nodded. “I’ll be outside. Five minutes.”She tossed Rhoda one last murderous glare before she walked out of the room, slamming the door behind her. Now, it was just me and t

IRIS “Okay, I’m not gonna cry,” Megan muttered, fanning her eyes as she stood behind me. “I am not going to cry.”I looked at her through the mirror, feeling my lips tug upward slightly. “You’ve been saying that for the past ten minutes, Meg.”Megan grinned, adjusting my veil with shaky hands. “Well, maybe if you didn’t look like a fucking goddess in that dress, I’d be fine.”Today was the long awaited day.My wedding. It was long overdue, if you asked me, but when there are a lot of things going on in your life, time flies by like a freaking jet.“You helped me pick it.”I had on a lace dress—Megan had seen what I’d picked at the bridal shop the other day and she’d deemed it unacceptable. “Too simple” in her words. Now, I had on a vintage-inspired lace gown worth more than an entire year’s rent and shoes that glittered on my feet. I looked like a real bride. Except… I wasn’t.“And now I’m regretting it, because I cannot for the life of me emotionally handle seeing my best friend lo

  • Dear Ex-Husband, Revenge is Mine!   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-ONE: I’M AWAKE

IRIS “Fuck!” I hissed as Maverick spanked my ass for the umpteenth time.I wasn’t sure how long I’d been bent over his dresser table, but with the way my ass stung with hot pain, I’d say a long time.“I said fuck me like you hate me, Maverick, not punish me,” I breathed.“Why do just one when I can do both?” he rasped, driving into me again with an urgency that made me scream.“Shhh,” Maverick tutted. “You don’t want to wake the kids up now, do you?”“I scoffed. “They can’t hear us and you know it.”He pulled out of me, lined his cock with my core before instantly slamming back into me, hard enough to cause me to cry out. “Oh, yeah,” he groaned. “That’s right. Which means I can do whatever I want with this pussy.”He gripped my hair, pulling me up so my back was against his chest as he drove into me nonstop. “This is what you wanted, huh?” he grunted. “For me to fuck you like I hate you? Is that what you think we’ve been doing since day one? Fucking like we hate each other?”I opened

  • Dear Ex-Husband, Revenge is Mine!   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY: LIKE YOU HATE ME

IRIS“You okay, baby?”“What do you think?” I breathed, peering down at Maverick who had settled himself between my legs. His hands gripped my thighs firmly as he dragged me closer to him.Closer to his mouth, I mean.Maverick chuckled, his breath fanning my wetness, sending a chill down my spine. “I think you look just fine,” he muttered, and then his tongue swiped along my slit, causing me to fall back into the pillows.Maverick was in a really good mood tonight. He hadn’t told me anything about it, but I could tell that something good must have happened at work. He’d returned a bit earlier than usual, sent Tania home and even offered to cook dinner. But the moment Chelsea and Amy went to bed, Maverick was all over me. He didn’t even give me any space to breathe, except when he was carrying me over his shoulder to his bedroom, muttering something about us having unfinished business. My eyes fluttered shut, eyes parted as I laced my fingers into his hair, playing with it while he pla

  • Dear Ex-Husband, Revenge is Mine!   CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINETEEN: BATTLE OF CEOS

MAVERICK Quentin’s eyes flashed. “Is that a threat?”I didn’t answer. Then again, I didn’t need to. My father was as irrelevant to this meeting as the abstract paintings on the walls. He scanned the room, his lips turning down into an ugly scowl as his gaze moved from one member of the board to the other.I guess this was what betrayal felt like for him.“This meeting is dismissed.”My back was turned, but I didn’t hear a sound. Nobody moved.I shrugged, tilting my head at my father.Quentin, boiling with rage at this point, charged toward the table, slamming his fist onto the hard mahogany.“I said, this meeting is dismissed!” His voice was louder now, and I turned back around to face the board, pleased to see that nobody had moved. Not even David Lenner, who was already about to get fired by me.I let the silence sit for a few seconds before I spoke. “Nobody is leaving.”Quentin slowly turned to face me. “Excuse me?”I glanced briefly at Sebastian, taking in the way his right eye
