Chapter 14 “Rainy Day Kisses”

The new morning brought with it a raging storm. Toya sought out a cave as the others made their way across the sodden ground. “Come on. Hurry up,” Toya grabbed Kyoko’s backpack from her, and hurried off in the direction he’d come from.

They grumpily followed him toward an outcropping of rock, and into the semi-dryness of the cave he found. It was small and smelled of mildew, but once a fire was raging at the entrance, they all began to feel better as they dried off.

They waited the storm out mostly in silence, with everyone shooting hidden glances at each other. It was really grating on Kyoko’s nerves until she got bored and decided to teach them how to play cards. They were finished playing when Toya and Shinbe got into a staring match after the last game, which happened to be slapjack. Toya obviously didn’t like being the loser.
