**CHLOE**

She was crying now.

“I’m so sorry, dear,” her dad throated. “I know what I did was wrong, but if I had another chance, I'd do it again.”

“Why?” She choked out in between sobs. “Why wouldn't you regret it?”

How did Richard miss this in the background check, though?

I remained silent, my jaw clenched. I really don't know how I should feel.

I turned around and walked back to the car, their choked sobs echoing behind me.

I got into the car.

“Drive,” I said to George.

“Sir, did you get your wallet?” He asked.

“Just drive, George.” I demanded, and George kept his eyes on the road.

**CHLOE**

I pinched myself hard, but nothing happened. I really wish this was just a dream.

"Yes, I don't,” Dad choked out. “I got to put food on the table; I got to keep my girls clothed with a roof over their heads. What more could I ask for?” He took a breather to compose himself. “The joy on your face when you thought you had gotten a scholarship was... priceless. I wouldn't trade it for anything,”
