ELARA POV

The training grounds at Predator Pack are carved into the mountainside, where the trees thin and the air runs sharp with wind and raw energy.

I stand at the edge of the arena, barefoot, sweat already lining my palms. The stone beneath my feet is cold, jagged, and real. Unlike Moonstone’s fake polished floors and Ridge’s soft mats, this place doesn’t coddle.

It tests you.

Elias stands across from me, calm and still as ever. The wind pulls at his dark coat, his golden eyes fixed on me like he’s already seen what’s about to happen.

“Today,” he says, “we call the wolf.”

I swallow. Hard.

Hyrax stirs in the back of my mind.

“I’m ready,”she whispers.

“Are you?”

My stomach clenches and I know it is not the baby.

“You said I’m different,” I murmur, eyes on the dirt.

“You are,” Elias says. “Your mother was a white wolf. One of the last. You carry her blood and her spirit. When you shift, it won’t be like the others.”

I look up. “Then what will it be like?”

Elias’s gaze da

ELARA POV I don’t tell anyone about the dream. About my mother. The field. The glowing dagger. Not because I don’t trust them… but because I don’t trust myself with what it might mean. Instead, I throw myself into training. Every day begins before dawn with Elias on the cliffs hand-to-hand combat, then weapons. Staff. Sword. Knife. He makes me use the moon-bone dagger sparingly. Only when he sees my control is unwavering. “She didn’t leave this to stay sheathed,” he reminds me. “But it will do more than cut flesh. If you draw it in anger, it might never stop bleeding.” A part of me believes him. There’s something alive in the blade. Something ancient. Restless, It hums when I hold it too long, like it’s waiting for something or someone. After combat, I shift. Every. Single. Day. Hyrax is stronger now. Her thoughts clearer. Our movements more fluid. But the power is heavier than I imagined.I’m not just fast, I’m unnatural, when I run, the trees blur when I leap, I land yard

ELARA POV The sacred grove is nothing like I imagined. It isn’t made of golden trees or shimmering waters. It’s quiet. Still. Carved from shadow and stone, ringed with ancient carvings that lean inward like they’re listening. Amber walks ahead of me in silence. The wind tangles in her long hair, catching on the silver clasps that line her braids. We reach the center of the grove, where a massive white stone juts from the ground. At its base, symbols glow faintly pulsing in a rhythm that feels disturbingly familiar. “Your mother came here before she left,” Amber says. “It’s like she knew she was walking into danger like she wasn’t sure if she’d return.” She kneels beside the stone and presses her palm to the symbols. They shimmer. “She left this for you. Only blood of her line can open it.” I take a step forward, hesitant. “What is it?” I whisper. “A memory,” she says. “A message. Perhaps more.” I crouch beside her and raise my hand. It trembles, then I press it to the stone

ELARA POV I wake before dawn, for a moment, I forget where I am.The scent of burning pine. Soft fur blankets. No scent of mold or dirt. No leaking roof. No cold, stone cell disguised as a bedroom.“Not Moonstone pack. Not Ridge pack.Predator pack”The realization settles over me slowly it’s comforting and also terrifying. I sit up and place my hand on my stomach. The baby stirs lightly beneath my skin. “You’re safe,” I whisper, though I’m not sure who I’m trying to convince, him or me. The fire has gone out, but the room is still warm, magic lingers here, I can feel it, like something in the walls breathes when I do.Amber said they would give me a few days to adjust before starting training, but I don’t want days. I don’t want to sit here and rest. I’ve been resting my entire life, It’s time to move. When I step into the hallway, Elias is already there. Leaning casually against the stone archway like he never left. “Couldn’t sleep either?” he asks. “I could,” I admit. “But

ELARA POVThe forest changes the moment I cross the threshold. The trees are taller here, ancient, thick-trunked, their canopies casting a blue-green haze over the mossy ground. The scent in the air shifts, too. Cleaner. Wilder. Magic hums beneath the soil like a current I can’t see but feel deep in my bones. Predator Pack. The air itself carries weight, not with fear, but with power. My pulse races as I step deeper into the woods. I should be afraid. But I’m not. Not anymore. I walk further into the trees, until I see him again. The golden-eyed stranger. He steps from behind a tree, tall and broad shouldered, his movements fluid and quiet. His hair is tousled, dark, just a shade lighter than Zane’s, but his energy is… calmer, more controlled and somehow ancient. Thanks to our genes you can hardly tell the age of werewolves and something tells me he is older than he lets on “Welcome,” he says, voice deep but gentle. I stop a few paces from him “Who are you?” I lift a brow at hi

ELARA POVThe next morning, Ridge doesn’t feel like Ridge anymore. It’s colder. Heavier. Like the trees themselves know Zane was here. Silvia doesn’t speak as she helps me pack a bag. Just essentials. We’re not running. Not yet. But we’re preparing. Just in case. “You should’ve told me sooner,” she mutters as she folds one of my sweaters. “About the second dream. About him reaching through again.” I don’t respond. I can’t. I’m too busy listening to the silence between her words. The fear she’s trying to hide. Silvia never hides anything, except when she’s scared. “I didn’t want to make it real,” I say quietly. She pauses, looking up at me. “Elara… it’s already real.” I nod, I know.Luna Elenor summons me midmorning into her office. Her office is quieter than usual. No assistants. No paperwork. Just her and a small teacup steaming beside her. I sit across from her, my hands folded tightly in my lap. She watches me for a long time. And finally the words I’ve been fearing leav
