Chapter 06

A month later....

Cara walked into the kitchen where Sally was doing the cooking.

"I can't continue to stay here for free, I want to find a job," she said to Sally making her turn almost instantly.

"But we can provide for you till you give birth, you don't have to work," Sally said but Cara shook her head, she didn't want to be a liability to them, at least courtesy demands so.

"No, I want to work and contribute to the upkeep of the house, I don't want to be a liability," she insisted and Sally gave into her demands.

"Okay, if that is what you want then so be it...there is a restaurant with a vacancy, you can apply for a post there," Sally suggested agreeing with her because she knew there was nothing she could do.

"Thank you Sally, I am very grateful for your support."

"No need to thank me, it's what every good person would do besides you are like a daughter to me," Sally said caressing her cheek before going back to cooking.

The next day, Cara went to the restaurant looking for a job, she asked one of the staff who led her to the CEO's office. She knocked and stood at the voice for a while before she heard a woman's voice assuring her in.

"Please have a seat," the middle aged blond woman on pointed glasses gestured at the chairs in front of her, "how can I help you Miss?" Cara adjusted her gown and sat down, she had specifically wore a baggy dress to hide her now one month old baby bump.

"I want to apply for the post of a cook in you restaurant Mrs Sanders," Cara said glancing at the woman's name tag that hung on her left breast.

"What makes you sure that you have what it takes to become a cook in my restaurant?" Mrs Sanders flipped a paper, scanning it briefly before meeting her eyes, Cara looked away and sighed softly.

"I don't know if I have what it takes to be a cook but I do know how to cook except intercontinental dishes and I am willing to learn...that is if someone would be kind enough to teach me," She said.

Mrs Sanders stared hard at the pregnant lady in front of her, studying the her with an eye of precision which made her more nervous than before. She observed how desperately the lady tried to hide her nervousness.

"How efficient can you be with your pregnancy?" The moment she spilled the word out, the lady paled instantly and her guesses were confirmed.

"How did you know?" Cara breathe, she was on the peak of her nervousness.

"Honey, I am a mother of four and two grandchildren, I know a pregnant woman when I see one and you my dear, are pregnant," Mrs Sanders concluded crossing her legs, relaxing on the leather revolving chair.

Cara's hopes crashed, "but I am not that far along, you can take me right? Please accept me, I'll do my best," she pleaded almost going down on her knees.

"No, don't do that dear," Mrs Sanders jerked up instantly, slightly losing her balance and held her.

"Then please hire me, I promise to work hard," Cara repeated again and Mrs Sanders sighed tiredly rubbing in between her brows.

"How far along are you?"

"A month."

"Then you are hired," she said and Cara raised her head overjoyed, " but once you are in your sixth month, you are taking a leave."

"Yes! Oh thank you very much ma'am, you don't how much this means to me," she jumped up instantly, catching the woman off guard.

"Oh and call me June please, ma'am makes me look old," June chuckled.

"Ok June, I am looking forward to working for you," she said and stretched out her hand which June took.

"Then let's see what you can do."

Slam!

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Vivian stomped into the mansion brimming with anger and frustration.

"Welcome back young mi..."

"Fuck off!" She screamed at the maid's face and pushed her so hard that she fell. Vivian glanced condescending at her and stomped off to her room.

"Where are you coming from?" Evelyn asked intercepting her, Vivian groaned irritatingly and ignored her, walking away but Evelyn held her arm.

"I asked a question young lady."

"And I am not in the mood to answer your questions mother, leave me alone," she screamed at her mother. To say Evelyn was shock would be an understatement, Vivian have never talked to her this way.

"Cara would never talk this way," Evelyn blurted out probably out of anger or shock and Vivian literally exploded.

"The fuck?" She yanked her arm away from Evelyn's grip, "now you're comparing me with that slut?"

"Don't you dare call your sister that!" Evelyn growled and raised her hand to hit Vivian but she held herself, taking a deep breath she withdrew her hand.

"I don't care! Don't you ever compare me to her!" Vivian screeched and kicked her door open and slammed it so loud the windows shook.

Evelyn sighed tiredly, "How did it come to this?" She slowly walked to the garden.

"Arrgh!!" Vivian threw her handbag at the vase in anger shattering it instantly, "how dare she, how dare she compare me to that bitch! Even in her absence she still manages to ruin everything for me!"

Vivian pranced about in her room constantly running her hand through her hair. A shrill sound pierced through the room. It happened to be her phone.

"Yes?"

"I am waiting♪" the voice sing-song and she stiffened immediately, cursing under her breath.

"What do you want Eric, if it's about Cara...I don't know where she is."

"Don't give me that bullshit Vivian, you can do better than that," the voice said, Vivian rolled her eyes in sarcasm.

"Don't tell me with all that connection you still can't find her," she said sarcasm dripped from her tone.

"Don't get sarcastic with me bitch, don't forget I can end your future with just the snap of my finger," the voice warned and cold sweat broke out of her forehead.

"Sorry, I'll try my best to find her," Vivian said reluctantly and the person let out a satisfied grunt.

"You better do your best if you want to get Damien all to yourself," the person and hung up. Vivian let out a deep breath and collapsed on her bed.

"Fuck."
