I couldn’t get the events of the night we got attacked in a restaurant out of my mind. It dominated every minute of my day to the point that some people noticed I was absent-minded.

“What’s on your mind?” Mikhail asked. He was one of the few people who noticed things like that because he knew me so well.

I didn’t answer his question because I didn’t know where to start.

When we were attacked, my whole world stood still. I didn’t know how deep my feelings for Livia went until the idea of anything happening to her crippled me.

I’d looked at her, ready to protect her but she had already gotten on the ground to seek shelter. She worked well under pressure, and she didn’t look scared at all. After establishing she was okay and out of the line of fire, I ran for my gun.

I’d looked back at her and there was, helping other people. She had been leading them to a backroom to get protection. I chose at that moment to cover her so nothing would happen to her as she was helping.

The happiest day of my life had finally come. I woke up, especially early that day, arranged to get married to the love of my life. When I woke up and was in bed with him because he had an early business to attend before the wedding.I warned him that if he was late for the ceremony he shouldn’t dare show up so I knew you would be timely and conclude his business quickly. I didn’t even understand why he was working on his wedding day.It should’ve been legal to do that. However, I wasn’t going to stand in the way of him and his work. What I needed to be was a supportive queen who he could count on in the future in times when he needed to disappear and tend to business.I showered quickly and brought everything I needed with me to the car. I was going to get ready in another venue that was close to where the wedding was taking place. I didn’t want to get ready in the mansion because I would have to clean up the mess afterwards and I wanted my wedding night to be special. I wanted to c

  • Don Maxim's Plaything   Falling Apart

After my conversation with Mikhail, he retired to his room, and I went to mine. I found Olivia asleep, but I didn’t wake her because I knew she and I would have yet another argument about my brother. She didn’t like that my twin condoned the way my mother treated me and she thought it said a lot about what he thought of me when his mother was around. I told multiple times that I didn’t care what anyone thought of me as long as they respected and feared me—including my brother. She asked me to talk to him about his behavior, but I didn’t think it was worth it. We had already spoken about it multiple times and nothing had changed. How was I sure that anything will change? It was clear he loved her mother. He loved me, but I didn’t blame him for it because she had raised him while I had been raised by my father. I knew sooner or later that relationship would come to bite us in the ass, but I didn’t think it was this soon. I certainly didn’t think she would use my future wife against me.

As soon as we got to the house, Mikhail asked to speak with me. Judging by how his eyes flicked between me and Livia, I automatically knew it was about her.I didn’t know why he thought he would tell me that would change my mind about her, but I wanted to listen to him anyway, because it was my brother, and there had been attention between us since Maya showed up.He didn’t even want to see that she was the problem as soon as she had arrived he suddenly hated Livia and that she was not good for him.I previously thought he was a reasonable man who had independent thoughts and couldn’t be easily manipulated, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. He let his mother string him along like a guitar.I may have experienced the bulk of the toxicity with my father when he forced me to be an assassin when I was literally a child, but he had suffered, psychologically, at the hands of his mother. She manipulated him into doing whatever she wanted and he allowed it to happen. I didn’t understand ho

We waited for everyone to arrive and everyone who came was shocked to see Veronika there with Moya. Mikhail even called Moya aside to speak to her. We all saw them arguing even though we didn’t hear anything. They didn’t seem to come to see eye to eye because Mikhail threw his hands up in frustration and walked towards us. Even though that seemed to shake Moya a little, it was not enough to stop whatever it was that she was planning. Kira also pulled me aside and I begrudgingly followed her. “What is it?”“I’m sorry for taking Moya’s side. I didn’t know she was this unreasonable. I thought she didn’t like you because she didn’t know you and things would change once that happened. I was wrong.”I didn’t know what to make of her apology. I was going to forgive her but I didn’t think it was genuine nor did I think I could ever trust her ever again. She had my back when I murdered Polina but I didn’t trust she could ever have my back ever again. “It’s okay. I understood where you were

The wedding was planned within one and a half weeks. Viv could work miracles considering she was from a foreign country. She had everything ready and paid for. All we had to do was show up for the wedding and get marriedI was impressed by what she had done. She had even gotten me a famous wedding dress designer from another country who we had flown out. She took my measurements, and designed the perfect dress for me. I knew hiring Vivienne was the right decision."The wedding dress will be here shortly," she said as she held her tablet, typing something on there.Once she held that tablet in her hands and wore her glasses, she was able to work miracles other people couldn't. Plus she had three days to spare.Even Sonya was impressed and even told Viv she would plan her wedding someday. I had a feeling the day would come sooner rather than later since I had seen Nikita researching rings. He even asked me what type of diamond Sonya liked.I wore a light pink satin slip dress with white

Vivienne came to Russia only a day later. I was happy despite everything that had happened. Maxim had been right. Moya thought I wouldn’t tell him she tried to kill me and would try to resolve the issue by myself. That’s why she had been so bold.Unfortunately, I would have fallen into her trap. I always fought for myself so it would come naturally to do so. I didn’t know how she read me so well. Maxim thought Mikhail must have told her all about me.Before Moya left, she threatened to end my marriage before it began. She called me a coward for running to Maxim with all my problems, and I told her she was just mad that I didn’t do what she wanted. She rolled her eyes at me and left but not before she told me that it wasn’t over and she would make me pay for what I had done. That woman was delusionalDespite his mother trying to kill me, Mikhail wasn’t talking to me. He spoke to Maxim but only when necessary and there was tension between them. It felt like he was blaming us for everyth

“She told the wedding planner that she owned Russia and she would control everything. She also said that she has you wrapped around her little finger.” Moya reported me to Maxim when he came home/“She didn’t lie,” he said casually. Her jaw ticked in anger. She was not satisfied. She wanted to sow discord.“Did you hear me? She disrespected the best wedding planner in the country, and the wedding is in two weeks. How are you supposed to have a grand wedding if no one is planning it?”“What were you doing in a meeting between her and the wedding planner? She said she would do this away and is not even asking her best friends for help. Besides, the wedding planner means nothing to me, she does.”It was so satisfactory to see Maxim having my back so much. He was such a good man that I could hardly believe he was mine. I smiled at Moya smugly, waiting for what she would say next.“Since you stroke her ego so much, I think you should push the wedding back a little so you can have time to l

I thought Moya couldn’t possibly be more insufferable than she already was but I was wrong. I couldn’t stand her at all. She was in every single decision I made, making sure she made my life even more miserable than it already was.Her methods were subtle, like asking the maids to sabotage my breakfast and mess with my schedule. She made me miss my first meeting with my wedding planner and it didn’t go very well. The woman thought I was unprofessional and warned me that she would plan the whole wedding herself because she had already been paid by Maxim and if she didn’t fulfil her duties, he would punish her.I didn’t tell her I had an excuse as to why I didn’t show up because I didn’t want to portray that my family life had a little chaos in it. That wouldn’t go too well if she reported back to Maxim. He would blame me for everything. He didn’t get along with his mother and while he didn’t seek her approval, like every normal person, he craved her affection and he had a soft spot for

Sonya and I didn’t bother to change because we already looked good. However, we mauled over Kira’s behavior. None of us expected her to side with a woman who had insulted one of her friends.Yet, she seemed very excited that she had gotten approval from a woman she had never met before. I asked Sonya if she had a good relationship with her adoptive mother but she told me she didn’t know.“There is a lot we don’t know about Kira. She’s elusive and very private with her life. It is very suspicious if I am being honest.” I said. “Maxim mentioned that and I brushed him off.”“I think she is just insecure. Rumor has it that her real mother was murdered by her father because he found out that she was pregnant with his child and he knew it would ruin his marriage.”Her real father was a menace to society. Getting a heart attack was an easy way out. He was the one who had chosen to put his dick in another woman without protection. She didn’t deserve to be killed because he couldn’t keep in hi
