Thirty feet below the marble foundations of the Rossi Citadel lay a cold, reinforced concrete bunker that didn't exist on any architectural blueprint of New York.

Formerly a Cold War-era panic vault built by Vicente Rossi, I had quietly transformed it over the past three weeks into the heart of The Obsidian Protocol.

The air down here was frigid, smelling of ozone, heated circuit boards, and stale espresso. Wall-to-wall server racks hummed with a low, hypnotic frequency, their blue indicator LEDs blinking rhythmically against the dark, soundproofed walls. At the center of the subterranean command post sat a sprawling, curved workstation surrounded by eight ultra-wide curved monitors.

Nadia Vance sat in the high-backed ergonomic chair, her slender legs tucked under her as she chewed absently on a cold piece of toast. She wore an oversized charcoal hoodie, her dark hair pulled up into a messy knot, and blue-light blocking glasses resting on the bridge of her nose.

Despite her casual appearance, her fingers moved across her mechanical keyboard with a terrifying, rhythmic speed that sounded like automatic gunfire.

The heavy, pressurized steel door behind her hissed open, breaking the quiet vacuum of the vault.

Nadia didn't even turn around. "You take two steps onto my floor without clean shoe covers, Damian, and I will wipe your encrypted offshore accounts before you reach my desk."

Damian let out a low, gravelly chuckle from behind me, stepping into the room alongside Lucian and myself. "Feisty little rat. I like her."

"She's not a rat, Damian, she's an apex predator in a hoodie," I said, walking down the metal ramp toward her desk.

I was dressed in a sleek black leather trench coat over dark trousers, my ruby signet ring catching the glow of her screens. Lucian walked closely at my right, his silver-topped cane clicking softly against the grating floor, his sharp dark eyes scanning the complex matrix of algorithms Nadia had laid out across her monitors.

Nadia spun her chair around, pushing her glasses up her nose. Her sharp grey eyes, the exact same shade as our father's, though filled with a fierce, independent intelligence, met mine.

"Valerie," Nadia said, her voice quiet, carrying a subtle British edge from her years in London. She looked past me to the two massive men flanking me like dark towers. "Dons."

"Nadia," Lucian acknowledged with a polite, sharp nod. "Valerie speaks very highly of your work with MI6. Show us what our four-hundred-thousand-dollar server cluster has uncovered."

Nadia turned back to her main screen, tapping a single command key. A complex financial spiderweb expanded across the center display, nodes lighting up in bright neon green and crimson red.

"Capo Silvano thinks he's a criminal mastermind," Nadia began, tapping a pencil against her desk. "He’s been skimming fifteen crate loads of mil-spec assault rifles, armor-piercing ammunition, and anti-vehicle explosives from the Brooklyn docks over the last forty-eight hours. He routed them through three separate transport shell companies, Maritime Logistics, Borough Hauling, and Apex Freight."

"Standard shell rotation," Lucian noted coolly, leaning over her shoulder to inspect the routing codes. "Silvano uses Apex Freight for his local gambling joints."

"Right. But Silvano isn't keeping the guns for a local street war," Nadia said, her tone dropping into a cold, serious frequency. She zoomed in on a single, isolated server node glowing deep purple. "He’s acting as a middleman. I cracked the encrypted satellite comms on the transport trucks forty minutes ago."

"Who bought them?" Damian growled, his hand resting on the heavy leather holster under his arm. "Is it Moretti's remnants?"

"Worse," Nadia said. She pulled up a satellite imagery feed showing an abandoned dry dock along the East River in Queens. A blacked-out, unregistered container ship sat moored in the murky water. "The buyer isn't local. The funds didn't originate from New York, Chicago, or Europe."

Nadia hit enter, bringing up a bank clearance certificate pulled directly from an offshore bank in Geneva.

"The wire transfer came from a private account under the name Helios Financial Group," Nadia said, turning her chair to look at us. "A dummy corporation controlled directly by Arthur Vance."

The air in the room instantly plummeted below freezing.

Damian froze, his jaw tightening into a rock-hard block of iron. Lucian’s fingers gripped the silver head of his cane so tightly his knuckles turned white.

"Our father," I whispered, the name tasting like ash on my tongue.

"Our darling father," Nadia confirmed bitterly. "He didn't just flee to South America when his debts exploded, Valerie. He’s been rebuilding. And Silvano, the man your father, Vicente Rossi, trusted with the Brooklyn ports thirty years ago, has been feeding Arthur Vance weapons inside your own city."

"Silvano is a traitor," Damian snarled, his voice dropping an octave into a terrifying, guttural rasp. "I'll skin him alive in front of the entire Brooklyn crew."

"No," Lucian commanded quietly, his dark eyes fixed on the map of the Queens dry dock. "If we execute Silvano now, Arthur Vance disappears back into the shadows. Arthur doesn't know Valerie built The Obsidian Protocol. He thinks he's sneaking past a distracted young Queen."

I stepped up to the main display, looking at the satellite image of the blacked-out ship.

Arthur Vance had abandoned me. He had used me as a bargaining chip, left me to die at the hands of the Rossi family, and fled the country like a coward. Now, he was reaching his clawed hands back into New York, trying to arm a rebel force right under my crown.

A cold, lethal calm washed over me, settling into my blood like liquid ice.

"He wants weapons to take back New York," I said softly, turning to face Lucian and Damian. "Then let's deliver them to him ourselves."

Damian looked down at me, a dark, wicked grin spreading across his scar-lined face. "A delivery?"

"The ship leaves the dry dock at 2:00 AM," I said, my voice cutting through the vault like a sharpened blade. "We aren't stopping the shipment. We're going to personal-deliver those crates to Queens, and leave Silvano's body inside the final box."

Lucian reached out, his long fingers cupping my face, his thumb gently caressing my cheekbone as a proud, dangerous smile touched his lips.

"My brilliant, ruthless Queen," Lucian murmured.

Nadia looked between the three of us, a slow, dark smirk rising on her lips as she tapped her keyboard. "I'll keep the dry dock security cameras on a twelve-second loop. You have four hours before the tide turns, sister."

"Get the breach team ready, Damian," I commanded, turning toward the steel doors. "Tonight, we send Arthur Vance a message from his daughters.”

The storm over the East River had reached its peak by 11:55 PM. Heavy, wind-driven rain beat down in sheets, blurring the harsh yellow floodlights of the Queens dry dock into jagged, watery smears. The Nereid, a rust-streaked, three-hundred-foot panamax cargo ship, sat immobile in the draining lock. To any passing patrol, she looked like an abandoned vessel awaiting scrapped steel recycling. But through my thermal night-vision goggles, the ship burned red and orange with human heat.Over forty heavily armed mercenaries were moving across the upper deck and inside the cargo holds, checking weapons crates and preparing for an insertion that would never come."Nadia," I whispered into my collar mic, kneeling behind a rusted shipping container twenty yards from the gangplank. Rain streamed down the matte-black tactical visor of my reinforced body armor. "Status on their comms?""Loop is live, Queenie," Nadia’s voice came through the encrypted ear-piece, crisp and untroubled despite the st

The air inside the abandoned meatpacking plant on the edge of the East River tasted of salt, iron, and rotting pine.Outside, rain lashed against the corrugated iron roof in a relentless, rhythmic roar, masking whatever sounds bled from the dark interior. Inside, a single halogen work lamp hung from a rusted chain above the center of the room, casting a harsh, stark circle of yellow light across the damp concrete floor. In the middle of that ring of light sat Capo Silvano. He was tied securely to a heavy steel folding chair, his fine Italian wool jacket torn at the shoulder, a thin line of dark blood dripping from his split lip down to his silver goatee. Two of Damian’s most trusted enforcers stood like silent gargoyles in the shadows behind him, their hands crossed over their tactical vests. The heavy steel side door groaned on its hinges as we stepped into the building.Silvano blinked against the glare of the single bulb, his chest heaving under his soaked dress shirt. The glitter of the coronation gala had faded into the cold reality of morning.By 7:00 AM, the grand ballroom was empty, the velvet banners rolled away, and the smell of white orchids was replaced by the sharp scent of ozone, rain, and fresh ink.I sat in the east wing study, wrapped in a plush silk robe, sipping black coffee while three high-resolution monitors flickered to life across my sprawling glass-topped desk.Crowning a queen was a public spectacle designed to terrify the capos into submission. But keeping a crown required something far more lethal than gold or title: total, absolute information. The door to the study opened with a quiet, smooth click.Lucian walked in, carrying a folder under his arm. He looked rested, his dark hair falling naturally across his forehead, stripped of his formal tuxedo jacket to reveal a crisp white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Behind him came Damian, carrying two plates of breakfast, his heavy frame moving with that silent, predato

Six months after the Rotterdam Audit forced the European cartels to their knees, the grand ballroom of the Rossi Citadel was transformed into a cathedral of terrifying luxury.Gilded black arches stretched thirty feet above the polished obsidian floor, reflecting the light of three massive crystal chandeliers that glittered like shattered diamonds. High above the floor, the crests of every major global syndicate, from the Venetian cartels to the North American families, hung in banners of heavy black silk, all bowing toward a single raised marble dais at the head of the hall.Tonight was not merely a party. It was a surrender.Over five hundred capos, cartel bosses, international brokers, and foreign dignitaries filled the room, dressed in immaculate tuxedos and floor-length gowns. The air was heavy with the scent of white orchids, vintage champagne, and absolute submission. In the private anteroom behind the grand dais, I stood before a floor-to-length gilded mirror, adjusting the l

The heavy double doors of the grand master suite clicked shut behind us, locking out the quiet corridors of the estate, the scent of expensive wine, and the cold reality of global finance. The room was bathed in the warm, flickering glow of the fireplace, casting long, intimate shadows across the dark velvet canopy bed and polished mahogany floors.I barely made it three steps past the threshold before Damian’s large, calloused hands came around my waist from behind. He pulled me flush against his rock-hard chest, his head dipping down to drag his mouth across the sensitive curve of my shoulder, biting down softly enough to make a sharp, breathless gasp tear from my throat."Six hundred million," Damian growled into my skin, his deep, raspy voice sending an electric tremor straight down my spine. His hands moved up my body, his broad fingers gripping the rich crimson silk of my dress, tracing the structured bodice down to the zipper at my lower back. "Do you have any idea what it did
