Drugged

AMELIA'S POV

My eyes glazed over with a dreamy expression when I recounted my encounter with the stranger. I've never felt like that before, lost in his beauty, mesmerized by his eyes and his smile, I didn't notice when we arrived at the packhouse."

I was riding on his horse, and I guess I must have been thinking of him for too long because the next thing I knew, his assistant was bringing me down from the horse. I must have looked like a complete fool, but I couldn't help it.

But of course, I know I shouldn't let myself get too carried away. After all, he's just a stranger I met in the woods. But still, I can't help the feeling.

"You're safe now, miss, the Alpha is awaiting your presence."

"Thank you, sir, can I get your name?" I wanted to know as he had a mask on his face. Maybe I could use him to trace his boss.

"That's not needed." Turning his back on me, he climbed up the horse and rode away.

"Hmmm, rude."

"Where are you?" Chris suddenly mind-linked me, his voice with all urgency.

"I'm outside the pack house."

"I'm coming to get you."

"No! Don't, I'm a mess right now."

"What happened to you?"

"It's a long story but I'm fine now, I…" I tried saying but felt his presence behind me.

"Who did this to you?" Asking with care.

"I was almost raped while sneaking out of the house, but it's okay, nothing happened to me," I said with a reassuring smile.

"Look at you, you're half naked. You aren't even with your mask. Come with me before the guests step out."

I couldn't believe it when he led me to an elegant room in the pack house, filled with clothes of various colors and designs.

What was he up to now? Chris always had different surprises.

He introduced me to the pack workers as his mate. I could see the disbelief on their faces but didn't mind as they began to work on me, dressing me up in a beautiful ball gown.

It was the most stunning dress I had ever seen. The material was soft and silky, and it flowed like water when I moved.

"The dress was a deep shade of blue, with intricate beadwork and embroidery that sparkled in the light. It was like something out of a fairytale."

I shook my head, still in disbelief at the whole situation. "I couldn't believe that he had left his party and had gone through all this trouble for me.

I suddenly became uneasy when I noticed Chris had walked into the room. He kept staring at me, lust evident in his eyes.

I guess my discomfort was obvious as he immediately apologized while singing songs of praise to me.

I finally added my mask and felt a sense of relief wash over me. This was the perfect opportunity to attend a party without being recognized by anyone. The pack workers had carefully selected my outfit and mask for the occasion, a stunning blue dress, and a matching feathered mask that covered my entire face.

As I walked into the hall with Chris by my side, I felt a rush of excitement. The room was dimly lit and filled with music and laughter. I could see people dancing and daughters of prominent men in attendance.

The universe isn't partial, they had finally granted my wish, and I was now treated differently even though it was just a person who didn't care if I had a wolf or not.

I caught Lucy drinking her life away, she was the only one with a half mask so it was easy to spot her.

I felt free and safe as I made my way to the bar and ordered a drink, feeling confident and relaxed. As I sipped the drink, I looked around the room, admiring the elaborate masks and costumes. I felt like I was in a different world, a world where I could be anyone I wanted to be.

The music was blaring, so I decided to use the opportunity to show off my dancing skills since none would know I was the one apart from Chris.

The dance floor was packed with people. I had been looking forward to this kind of party but never had it. Now here it is. I would have a great night here.

As I made my way to the dance floor, I felt a rush of excitement. I started moving to the beat, swaying my hips and throwing my arms in the air. But then, out of nowhere, I felt something hit my leg.

Suddenly, I fell. I tried catching myself, but it was too late. My butt hit the floor with a thud, and I felt a sharp pain shoot up my spine.

As I looked up, everyone had stopped dancing and staring at me. I saw Lucy and her gang of minions laughing and pointing in my direction.

And then I saw him - the masked man with the freesia scent who had saved me earlier. Slowly, I got to my feet, wincing as I felt another jolt of pain in my back. I used his mask as the atmosphere changed to a freesia scent to recognize him.

He's tall, with a confident posture that exudes strength and masculinity. His broad shoulders taper down to a toned chest and washboard abs, suggesting a commitment to physical fitness. His arms are well-defined and muscular, showcasing strength and athleticism. His legs are powerful and toned, suggesting speed and agility. Overall, his body appears well-proportioned and aesthetically pleasing, with a hint of ruggedness that adds to his appeal.

As I was still staring lost in his beauty, Lucy immediately walked towards him, taking him away from my view as I felt a wave of anger wash over me. Even with a mask on, Lucy was still pissing me off.

I decided to get outside, what was this feeling for a total stranger, as I made my way towards the door, I heard the taunts and jeers of Lucy's minions.

Are they like this to everyone or was there something wrong with me?

Once I was outside, I took a deep breath and tried to compose myself. I knew that I couldn't let Lucy and her gang ruin my night. I was already feeling dizzy, maybe it was a result of the alcohol I took.

I tried to mind-link Chris but wasn't getting him. What was wrong with me? As I stumbled through the crowded party, I clutched onto the walls for support. I had only taken a small sip of the alcohol, but the dizziness was overwhelming. I desperately searched for Chris.

But as I stumbled through the sea of faces, I felt myself growing lighter and lighter. Suddenly, I was no longer on the ground. I was floating away as if I had become untethered from the earth.

I panicked as I realized I had lost control of my body. I couldn't see my surroundings or hear any sounds. Everything was a blur, and I was completely disoriented.

Just when I thought I was lost forever, I heard a voice beckoning on me, but I was too weak to reply as I let the darkness enclose me.

I'm enjoying this book much more than I thought I would. And that's saying a lot seeing as I don't usually enjoy this genre. Well done to the author on a great story
