(Kael's POV)

My mate.

Alaric.

I knew the way he kissed—yeah, I could write a whole song about it. His scent always managed to catch me off guard, sneaking up like some old scarf I didn’t remember stealing, wrapping me up in a winter I never signed up for. I still know exactly how his arms felt, pulling me in close, and how my heart would just lose its mind—thumping like it was trying to start a riot—just from hearing him say my name, like he was letting me in on some top-secret code.

But her? She’s more like a rumor than a memory. Just a flicker, some background static. She vanished through a crack in the sidewalk before I could even blink.

The one who slapped me.

The one who said she was his wife.

And that was the part that made everything inside me spiral—because if I had forgotten her, what else had I forgotten?

Was she ever his, the way I am?

He hadn’t let me out of his grip—not for a second since it all went dow

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    MISSING MEMORIES

The room was quiet, soaking in that early noon light.Alaric’s fingers traced lazy circles over Kael’s bare back, slow and gentle, almost like he was worried Kael would just disappear if he wasn’t careful. They were all tangled up together, Kael’s head resting on Alaric’s chest, hair a total mess that Alaric couldn’t stop running his fingers through, like he was counting beads or something.“I still can’t believe you’re here,” Alaric said, voice soft.Kael grinned against his skin. “Not going anywhere.”“You promise?”“Promise.”Alaric shifted, sliding his hand along Kael’s spine, down to his waist, then back up. “You feel warmer now. Not sick-warm, just… Kael-warm.”“Is that supposed to be a compliment?” Kael teased.“Obviously.” Alaric laughed, then pressed a kiss to his forehead. “Want me to brush your hair?”Kael lifted his head slightly, sleepy and amused. “Is that a threat?”Alaric raised a brow. “That depends. Will you be difficult about it?”Kael rolled his eyes. “You’re ridic

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    BACK TO THE PALACE

The door creaked open—soft, but not exactly sneaky.Kael shifted under the covers, all cozy and snuggled against Alaric’s chest, their legs and arms all tangled up like they’d glued themselves together on purpose. Honestly, it was kinda cute.Elara’s voice drifted in first, gentle as ever. “It’s time to go back to the palace.”Grandma was right there too, arms folded and giving that look only grandmas can pull off. “The prince can’t stay hidden in these woods forever. If he’s not back by moonrise, folks will start poking around.”Alaric didn’t even glance up.He just pressed a kiss to Kael’s forehead and whispered, “We’ll go. But it’s happening my way.”“Alaric…” Grandma sighed, but there was no fight left in her—just understanding, the kind that comes from knowing people too well.Kael blinked awake, burrowing deeper into Alaric’s warmth. “Is it really morning already?”“You need more rest,” Alaric grumbled. “I’ll carry you.”“I can walk,” Kael tried, not sounding convinced at all.“

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    AFTER THE STORM

The first thing Kael felt was warmth. It wasn't the suffocating kind from fever or panic, but the quiet kind—the type that lingers in the cradle of a sunrise, the type that smells like skin and wet earth and someone who never stopped waiting. Then came the ache. His body felt distant, like a house he hadn’t lived in for a long time. Heavy limbs. A chest that burned every time it tried to rise. Eyelids sealed by exhaustion. Then the sound—muffled, like voices underwater.A woman weeping. A fire crackling low. Wood creaking beneath soft footsteps. Somewhere close, a heartbeat. And a weight on his chest. Not crushing. Anchoring.Kael’s lashes fluttered. The first thing he saw was a mess of black hair sprawled across his torso. Then a face.Alaric.Unconscious. Draped protectively over him like a shield that forgot how to stand down.“Alaric?” Kael croaked. His voice was dry, sanded down by everything he’d endured. The figure didn’t move. But across the room, someone gasped.“Oh gods—Kael

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    WHEN TWO SOULS COLLIDE

“Kael’s father is… his spirit is inside this child too.”Kael lay still. His chest rose and fell—barely. His skin had gone pale, almost grey, except for the faint flush of blood still weeping from the cuts Grandma had made. His lips were cracked. His brows twitched now and then, as if something inside him still fought—still clawed toward the surface.Alaric hadn’t moved from his side. His hands were cradling Kael’s head, his forehead pressed against Kael’s temple. His breath stuttered each time Kael’s did.“Elara…” Grandma’s voice came quiet from the corner, where she crouched by the iron basin again, now filled with dull ash. “Give me the white cloth. The one beside the fireplace.”Elara moved stiffly, like her limbs belonged to someone else. She handed the cloth over without looking away from her son.Alaric’s voice finally broke the silence, ragged. “He opened his eyes… but he wasn’t there. He looked at me—and it wasn’t him. There was something else wearing his face.”Tears streake

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    THE SOUL THREAD

The cottage stood on the edge of the woods like something older than the trees around it—more root than house, more myth than home. Moss crawled over the stone walls. The wooden door groaned when Grandma pushed it open. Wind whistled behind them like it carried spirits.“Lay him down on the floor,” Grandma instructed sharply. “The center of the circle. No pillows. No metal near his body.”Alaric obeyed, his arms cradling Kael as if he were glass. He lowered him onto a thick woven mat etched with faded runes. The scent of dried herbs—lavender, clove, bloodroot—hung in the air like breath waiting to be exhaled.Kael didn’t stir.Grandma knelt beside him, her gnarled fingers opening a small wooden box. She took out a blade—thin, curved like a crescent moon. The silver edge shimmered despite the lack of light.Alaric stiffened. “What are you doing?”“I need his blood to speak.”She didn’t wait. With steady precision, she slid the blade across Kael’s left wrist—just a tiny nick, no deeper
