INICIAR SESIÓNher by the waist and pulled her closer harshly.
Eva’s breath hitched. It seemed too cruel to be so close to him, logic asking her to resist this. She pushed, this time he let her go. A flicker of hurt passed his eyes and Eva looked away.“We can’t…” She paused, calming her racing heart, “We can’t afford this,” she whispered.Eva was acutely aware he is going to devastate her. Heart, mind, body and soul.He watched, searching her eyes and she held on to her resolve as tight as she could without giving anything away, even though every fiber rebelled against it.It was minute or eternity she doesn’t know but eventually the Professor’s arms fell to his side. He looked down, she watched the muscle in his jaw tighten and he stepped back.“Then go,” he said, cold and neutral. “Maybe you should considered transferring your classes,”She stepped back, startled, as he put a boundary between them. It stung hard.“I won’t bother you anymore,” he said. She opened her mouth and closed it as he stepped to the side and walked away, footsteps echoing in the empty library and the silence left behind rang in her ears. The lights dimmed and knees grew weak. She sniffed silently. He…He really just walked away, she bit her lips furiously wiping tears as they slipped from her eyes. She was trying to do this for weeks, this is what she wanted. Now she can go back to things being normal, or as normal as it could be.—---------------------------
Eva clutched the bag’s straps on her shoulder as she walked on the empty sidewalk towards her dorm building, it was almost midnight and she completed her shift at the local restaurant she worked part time. Still in her navy blue waitress skirt and white shirt.
Though exhausted to the bones, she knew she was bracing for another sleepless night. Or if she managed to sleep, Professor Vale will haunt her dreams. The empty echo of his silence was clawing her heart out.She walked aimlessly and then froze, hair on the back of her neck raised. Someone was behind. Eyes grew wide and alert, ears twitched—always good at hearing long distance—but no matter how she strained, there was nothing to pinpoint. She took a deep breath, started walking again slowly, pulled the bag to the front of her chest as she tried to look through the darkest corners of the street.Hands grew clammy, breath short as she started to count down how far the dorm was, a quiet rustle of clothes and footsteps rang in her ears like a brick hitting the ground, echoing. She quickly took out her phone from her skirts.Sweaty fingerprints visible on the screen before it lit up and she scrolled through the contact list but there were not many people in it.Penelope, who sometimes helped cover her shift. The restaurant manager, never called. Her college counsellor—old and kind—but in this situation. She closed her eyes.“Come on, come on, someone, anyone,” She opened her eyes, quickened her feet and the footsteps came faster. Her roommate is unreliable, always at one party or another. The last name on her contact gave her pause.Professor Vale.“Then go,”“Maybe you should considered transferring your classes,”“I won’t bother you anymore,”He wouldn’t come, she thought and yet her shaking thumb hovered over his name like a last thread of hope, one hand clutching the bag closer as she almost ran. The footsteps behind got quicker. She gathered enough courage to click on the name, seeing no other option— a sharp gasp tore from her throat, a hand hit her wrist sending the phone flying across the alley and another blow to her side knocked the wind out, she cried as a hand pinned her to the wall behind the street light. She coughed as the hand choked. The bag fell and the phone lit up across the street, a voice coming from it. Eva, however couldn’t hear it.“You thought you would hide here forever?”Eva’s blood chilled as she heard the familiar grating voice, through blurred vision she saw the face of her uncle.Light grey eyes like a hawk with cold fury, heart fisting in fear as she struggled under his hold.“Un..cle…,” she clawed at his hand and choked, the pressure on her windpipe cutting oxygen.“I had enough of your tantrum, you are coming home with me!”The scar on his chin tightened as he sneered. Heart pounded. How did he find her?!“I..will…n’rrrr,” Eva words slurred as she got dizzy and started kicking. I will not, I will not—! She wanted to scream. He let go of her neck and grabbed her wrist in a death grip.“Uncle, I won’t!” voice raspy and weak. She dug her heels down as he pulled but she was no match for his strength.“You are costing me far too much,” He yanked her arms, she cried, louder this time.“Uncle, please let go of me!” she felt arms would come out her socket. “I won’t come with you, I won’t!” She screamed when she got enough air. “Help! Help!” She knew the street was deserted but she had to try.She grabbed his wrist, trying to twist free but he only yanked harder and she stumbled, head spinning, eyes blurred. Lips trembled. He grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her head up to meet his eyes. She gripped his forearms trying to push and hit.“Let go of—” She started to seethe but words caught in her throat as pain exploded across her cheek and knees gave away. She fell on the cold smooth granite ground and blood trickled from the corner of her lips.“Listen you street rat, I took you in, I clothed you and I fed you, now its time pay your keep,” He crouched down to her side. For a beat time suspended, the ringing in her ears grew louder. She deluded herself that she was safe, but now with one slap all her childhood came rushing back. Fury, helplessness and fear collided like a storm in the pit of her stomach. She looked up with bloodshot eyes, steel in dark brown gaze.“I will not come back! I owe you nothing!” She yelled and hit him hard on his face, his head snapped slightly. The impact hurt her hand more than him but the moment of shock—she grabbed her chance, went for her bag but a vice like grip pulled her before she could reach it. She was dragged.“You can’t run away, I will make you pay me or you will be paid for,”She tried to kick him but the ground disappeared under her as she was thrown across the street! Air knocked out, pain burned through her body as she hit the ground. With shaking arms and legs, she got on her knees. Looked up at the man who raised her. Betrayed long ago but it still hurt.“You can kill me before that,” She spat.“Eva! where are you?!”Hope bloomed beside the pain of probably broken ribs. Professor Vale, he picked up. He picked up. Movements became frantic, crawling towards the phone and Henry’s foot came down on her hand, nearly crushing it.Eva cried, but she didn’t beg. Not again.“Don’t try so hard little girl, even crippled you can be used for lot of things,”“Eva! Answer me!”“Professor—,”He kicked her again, sending her flying across the alley by the street lamp and the impact snapped her head hard to the side. Hot, red blood stained skin and vision blurred, bloodied hands outstretched toward the phone as it got crushed under Uncle Henry’s feet.Eva sobbed, as her last hope was gone.*Note for new readers- The story is being heavely edited. For a second Henry narrowed his eyes. Eva composed her face, not showing her fear on the surface.“You have changed.”Eva didn’t respond. Lily struggled in his hand, clenching her tiny fists. The flare of anger surprised her.“Put her down,” she glared. “I agree to come with you.”“You don’t think I saw the wolf disappear? That demon wolf will come soon enough.”“Then if you want to live, you should put her down and move fast,” Eva said.Henry’s hand moved to the little wolf’s neck. “Are you threatening me?”“How can I? You know more about the demon wolf than I do.”That was not true. Eva knew exactly what he was capable of. She just needed time—and for him to put Lily down. The brown of her eyes caught the red light behind Henry, and her heart eased a little. She showed him her hand.“I promise, this time I will come. And if you have me, he will not do anything. Please put her down. She’s just a little girl,” she said, masking her relief at the presence behind Henry.“Alright.” He sm
Sebastian and Eva ran out of the porch to look down at the valley, the smell of smoke churning in the pit of Eva’s stomach. Horrified, she whipped her head as Sebastian’s eyes turned red and the red wolf appeared beside him. Both, human and wolf, ran without a single thought towards the fire that started to take over the village.Eva followed after him without thought, her heart in her mouth. The screams got closer as they ran down the dirt road.“Eva, you should go back!” Bash yelled.“No!” Eva shot back, covering her nose so she wouldn’t inhale the smoke. Someone rushed past them as they took a turn into the fields and saw everyone running. Bash grabbed the figure—the boy was around thirteen years old, his eyes wide and face covered in ashes.“Alpha!” he gasped.“What happened?” Sebastian demanded. The boy looked back. People behind them were running with buckets of water to fight the fire, and when a truck came behind them with a tank, two men jumped out and pulled a long pipe. Eva
I still remember the smell of blood and smoke in the air the day they came, and it has never quite left me. Sometimes I wake up and still think that everything I’ve managed to carve my life into will be taken away from me.— Bash’s Journal—“Me?”“Yes, you. You are different. Normally, from the Alpha family, only Alphas interact the most,” Maya said as Eva followed her. They entered her office and settled while Maya started scanning through the papers.“Alpha’s family—” Eva began in confusion, then stopped. “Oh.” She realized what it meant. Maya raised an inquisitive brow at her. Eva just shrugged in response.“It seems like you are still not used to this place,” Maya noted.“I am not used to myself,” Eva clarified.“I know these past few months have been…” Maya seemed to search for a word.“Fucked up,” Eva said bluntly. Maya blinked at her, clearly not expecting it.“You don’t like it here,” Maya misunderstood.“I love it here, more than I care to admit,” Eva found herself reassurin
Everything hurt; who knew training was so hard. Eva had run miles, but this was different—even being blocked by one single force would send her skidding back. She had no muscle strength to block even the lowest Beta in the pack.“I am made for paperwork,” Eva’s words muffled in the pillow. She was bruised and battered. After half a month of working out, Sebastian had decided for her to train with others. All her excitement was gone after spending an hour there, and now another month had passed with it. She still felt her bones tired and her body hurting in all kinds of places.“It’s fine,” though Sebastian’s words were reassuring, Eva felt far from it.“If you don’t need to win, you know enough to find your way out of trouble,” Sebastian said. Eva pressed her lips into a thin line and raised her head from the pillow, staring at Sebastian, impatient. He chuckled at her look and kneeled at her side of the bed. The light in his eyes danced with patience and amusement.“It’s been only two
Eva stopped as she was passing by the training field to the Granny’s house, where everyone—every able adult—was practicing hand-to-hand combat. No one was shifting, at least not fully. A woman flipped a man; she winced a little as he landed on his back with a thud, sand cushioning the blow, splattering around. Briefly, he managed to overpower her, but her last move was so swift to catch that the man ended up on his knees with a blade at his throat.Eva blinked in surprise at the blade.“Now! Everyone, see that,” Sebastian called out from behind the watching crowd, rolling his sleeves and leaning on the iron ring enclosure that surrounded the training area, his eyes fixed on everyone’s movement. “Now move in pairs and practice.” He clapped. “Come on!”At his command, everyone did as he said. They all made their own circles, and everyone had a blade in their hands.“Efficient, isn’t it?” Maya said, coming up behind her.“I didn’t know they trained like this. So far, I just saw them shif
Eva’s whole weight leaned on Sebastian as he held her, and their lips moved in sync. The kiss was soft and deepened with every breath. There was no urgency in the kiss or the moment as Sebastian’s hands wandered up her sides, then to her shoulders, leaving soft trails of shimmering heat under her skin. She gasped a little as their lips parted, and his hand came to her face to tilt it so he could kiss her deeper. His tongue brushed her lower lip in a silent question, and she opened her mouth. Their tongues slid together, sending a current through her whole body. She arched into his touch, and his hands went to her thighs to pick her up and press her against the wall. They parted, breathing heavily.Eva wrapped her legs around his waist as his lips trailed down to her neck in open-mouthed kisses. She moaned, squirming in his hold, rubbing herself against him.Sebastian’s tongue traced a path from her shoulder to just below her ear, where she now knew why she was so sensitive. She shiver
This was a bad idea, Eva knew it. Wouldn’t all of this be counterproductive? But when Sebastian said home, something empty inside of her went yawning, and she wanted what he was offering. A part of her felt conflicted, as if this wasn’t supposed to be this easy. This is not how this works, or she n
“This is not a one-time thing. I won’t be able to hold back…”Now Eva understood why he had said that as she dipped her feet in the cold water. After cleaning herself thoroughly, she realized it truly wasn’t a one-time thing. She blushed at the thought and looked up at the sky as it turned orange.
“MATE!” His wolf growled. Claim her, claim her, ruin her!No! Sebastian snapped internally.Wrong. It hurts! The wolf growled in pain this time. The sharp pang in his own heart once again threatened to knock him to his knees. I have been to war. I can handle her running away, Sebastian told himself
Eva was pressed against the same tree she had been lying under half an hour ago, her breath stolen from her lungs as Sebastian’s tongue invaded her mouth without mercy. She whimpered softly into his mouth as she lost all sensation, her hand reaching for his shoulder to brace herself as she stood al
