Alex was too angry to go straight home, so he spent the first night in a hotel, shutting out everyone and ignoring their calls. The second night, he put on his phone and a few minutes later, Hayley's calls came in.

He was too angry to want to talk to her so he switched off the phone. He drank himself to stupor that afternoon and went back to sleep. By the time he woke up again, it was evening and he literally had to drown himself in cold water to get himself.

His head was still banging when he decided to drive back to the estate where Hayley was staying. Maybe then they could talk and arrive at a solution for the situation they found themselves in.
