Chapter 5, Unearthing the One Who Framed Him Back Then

"You said what..." A faint murmur escaped his lips, as Channing MacArthur's sharp gaze pierced towards Liu Xu.

Making a hushing gesture, Liu Xu stood up and walked toward the door. She wondered how those women who flocked to him could think so highly of such a man.

He has no fun in life at all!

During dinner, Gordon MacArthur claimed he was not feeling well and didn't want to go downstairs, so Shen Bei brought the food upstairs for him.

Watching him eat with great appetite, she understood that this child truly disliked Nicola Duncan.

Thinking about the future, where he might have to spend every day with someone he doesn't like, her heart ached.

"Take your time, no one is going to snatch it from you."

Originally, they had planned to go out on a yacht the next day, but around 9 PM, Channing MacArthur seemed to receive a call and, due to an urgent matter, left with a group of people.

Picking up the glass, Channing MacArthur downed it in one go, "If there's a single lie, I'll make sure you regret it."

Liu Xu rolled his eyes at Channing MacArthur as he walked to the door. It wasn't his engagement, and he hadn't wronged anyone, so why should he put in the effort?

When Channing MacArthur got home, he saw the light was on in Gordon MacArthur's room. Checking the time, it was almost 1 AM. Usually, the child would be asleep by now.

He pushed the door open and saw two figures on the bed.

Shen Bei, who had been a light sleeper since her mother fell ill, woke up at the sound of the door. Still drowsy, she sat up abruptly at the sound of footsteps.

Channing MacArthur stood by the bed, his face darkening as he stared at her.

"I was chatting with him and got a bit sleepy. I accidentally fell asleep. Oh, you're back, Young Master?"

After tucking Gordon MacArthur in, she nodded at Channing MacArthur, "Young Master, I'll go back to my room now!"

As they passed each other, a faint fragrance wafted into Channing MacArthur's nostrils, making his mouth dry.

Wearing a dark blue silk robe, his tall and lean figure was fully visible. The collar was slightly open, revealing his healthy, tanned skin. He was indeed blessed by nature, perfect in every way.

Seeing him look up, Shen Bei quickly averted her gaze.

Trying to untie the apron behind her neck, she accidentally touched her hair tie, which had loosened from her nap. Her long hair cascaded down, falling to one side of her face.

The warm spotlight illuminated her face, making her look different from usual.
