2— Farewell, My Alpha

I clutched my chest as my precious memory with the man I deeply love came to an end. I took a step back, pained by the realization when his words of ‘until the end’ turned into ‘the end’ in a matter of time.

I had hoped he’d be my first and last, yet he seemingly changed so fast. He went from being the reason I woke up smiling to being the reason I cried myself to sleep.

I only realized now that our happily ever after never actually existed and this is where it all ends. The betrayal by the only man I believed in and loved left a bitter and torturous taste in my mouth. And it breaks me that he chose Serena over me. I raised my head to watch his beautiful orbs that resembled the sun shine brightly.

You chose the person who was my greatest nemesis in everything. The person who ruined my happiness and stole everything that made me happy.

Out of everyone, I was betrayed by you. I was side-eyed not only by the members of the Silver Night Pack but also by the outsiders from the moment I stepped into the pack and it only worsen when I was given my own share in the family business.

Because of my upbringing and lowly heritage, I was frequently compared to Serena, my step-sister, the president of the SN Group. She is exceptional at everything she does. She’s far better than me in everything... ballet, painting, singing, playing instruments, martial arts, sewing, leadership service, and even academics... she is the standard.

“I thought you were different,” I whispered as I wiped the tears from my cheeks. “I was your Luna, right?”

I silently watched them as they finally sealed their union with a kiss and the crowd applauded in delight... amidst my grieving heart. "...was."

As I watched them grinning ear to ear, I didn’t feel tears streaming down my cheeks anymore, but I felt the tears flowing from my soul... slowly drowning my heart.

With a heavy heart, I turned my back, having accepted that the last glimmer of hope I had for the two of us had entirely slipped away... even though I wasn’t quite ready to let you go. I let out an exasperated sigh and turned away when I bumped into someone.

“I-I’m sorry,” I mumbled.

The scent of an exquisitely rich woody rose with a tinge of spice drove my view of the world speeding forward in slow motion. She was wearing a black mask and sunglasses that covered her face even at night time, and for some reason, even in the dark, my eyes were drawn to the stranger’s neck, where I spotted a crescent moon-shaped tattoo with three scratches in the middle.

“Wait, are you a hybrid too—” My focus was drawn to the sound of metal hitting the ground.

My brows creased as I stared at the short silver dagger with an elaborate design. I noticed the eight arrows in a radial pattern with two circles; one right at the center of the star and another surrounding it on the blade— a type of symbol used in spells, but I have never seen this pattern before.

I’ve seen Serena practice spells and magic before, but I’ve never seen anything like it. I picked it up and turned to face the stranger, but as I raised my head, she vanished into a thin air.

Who was she? I’m very convinced she’s a hybrid, just like myself. I fixed my gaze on the dagger in my palm. What should I do with this?

A teenager lightly bumped into my shoulder. “Lady Serena is going to show everyone a spell of a lifetime!”

Alas, I am invisible even in their eyes. The little children chased the teenager as they ran towards the center of the city, where Serena stood with her right hand facing the sky in her magnificent bridal ball gown, looking like a princess straight out of a fairy tale.

A huge magic circle formed in the sky, and a loud boom resounded before a bright sophisticated sparkling display of lights illuminated the sky.

It was a bitter cold and frosty night but the bright burning light was like a glorified explosion in the sky. It was breathtaking, and everyone looked up in awe as the lights shot their way into the air. I’d expect nothing less from the Miraculous Serena, the only wolf who can cast spells and use magic.

Despite the busy city center, I recognized Alpas in the middle of the crowd with a broad smile on his face, beaming affectionately at Serena... just like how he used to do to me.

I turned away from them and made my way to our special place to put an end to everything.

I discreetly went inside our old school campus. It was just as I remembered, I walked deeper toward the forest. This world is really too hard for beings like me, I didn't even wish to be born... and a werepire on top of that. I thought I have finally found my sole ally who understands me but I guess fate was just playing a cruel trick on me. I had nearly forgotten that I was a burden and that no one would want someone like me. I almost convinced myself that we’d be together forever.

“Why did you have to make me love you this hard?” I muttered in between my breath.

What’s the point of being alive without you? I might still be alive, but with you not by my side I’m truly not living. I am feeling lifeless on the inside. I never realized it until now... it’s suffocating loving you, Alpas.

I blankly stared at space, hearing the rustling of leaves in my every step before realizing I had finally arrived at our safe spot, the only place I found solace. I touched the engraved initials we made on the largest tree in the forest with a heart on it, the only proof of our love. This is where we started... and this is where I’ll end it. I pulled out the dagger I had found earlier. I was terrified of death as a child, but I didn’t expect to grow up desiring it so much.

The moon is extraordinarily beautiful today... even in the midst of my misery.

My hands trembling, I placed the dagger on my wrist. There is no point anymore, losing you is the death of me, Alpas. I looked up at the sky with tears flowing from my eyes. It seems like my agony is their joy. I love you, Alpas... now and forever.

I’ll see you in another life, my darling. I plead the moon hears my cry and makes my heartfelt desire a possibility. Here, I offer myself to the moon for you Alpas of the Blood Moon. Hopefully, we’d be meant to be in another lifetime, you’d not forsaken your promised Luna, and you’d choose me this time.
