SET FOR LIFE.

Chapter: 4.

*****

Adrian stood before the mirror, his hands smoothing his hair to the right angle, a smile filled his soul at the boy he saw staring back at him in the mirror. He looked good if he did say so himself, dressed all fancy in a pair of trouser pants and a white long sleeve shirt that he's spent almost an hour ironing. Today is the big day and he could not wait to get this interview over it.

"Dude!!!" Oliver yelled startling Adrian. "What's the big idea?" He asked shocked at his friend's appearance. He's never seen Adrian look this nice since he met him. The boy stood handsomely with his one million dollar smile and his fancy pants. Oliver's brows furrowed suspiciously as he stared at his friend.

"I've got an interview today," Adrian replied without meeting the other boy's eyes. He looked at himself again in the mirror to be certain he looked good and nothing was out of place before he turned around to meet Oliver's still shocked expression and opened mouth.

"A job interview?!" Noah called as he made his way out of his room with a bowl of cereal in his hand.

Adrian was shocked to see that Noah has just spoken to him. That had to be like the fourth word the boy has ever said to him in almost four years. Noah never said a word to him unless it was extremely unavoidable that he do so.

"Yeah, it's a job interview," Adrian replied.

"But you already have a job." Oliver pointed out the obvious.

"I do but I might just be getting a job that would set me up for life!" Adrian told the curious two.

"What kind of job is that?" Noah asked suspiciously.

To say that Adrian isn't surprised that Noah was still speaking to him would be an understatement. He never thought Noah would speak to him until he moves out. He may not have said it out loud or made his hatred known just as Famous always did but Adrian knew better what the boy always thought of him in his mind.

"Pet sitting..." Adrian whispered.

Noah chuckled, "How the fuck is babysitting a bunch of four legs supposed to set you up for life? Sounds like a pretty cheap job to me" Noah spoke his mind.

"Pet sitting Noah that's what it's called." Oliver corrected and then face Adrian to throw his own curious question at him. "What kind of pet and whose pet would that be?" Oliver asked.

"Elijah Wealthmoor's Dog," Adrian answered and saw their jaws drop, even Famous who has been minding his own business watching football on TV turned around to eye him evilly.

"No way!!!" Both boys yelled and as Noah dumped his eating bowl on the table, Oliver grabbed his phone and tapped something in it quickly, and then shoved the phone in Adrian's face.

"The Elijah of E.Wealths?" Oliver asked poking at his phone screen. Adrian found himself staring at the gorgeous man with his dog on his best friend's phone. Now he felt really dumb. How was it possible that everyone knows about this man? Well everyone but him.

"How did this happen? I mean, you're just a waiter, how did you land such an opportunity? Do you know who Elijah is?" Noah fired questions that mount themselves at Adrian. It was obvious that the boy didn't believe him and so did the other one who is now staring at him as if he has suddenly turned into Pinocchio and his nose was growing longer.

"Well, technically I haven't gotten the job yet. In fact, I doubt I will even be getting a job." Adrian told them as a matter of fact.

"Prove it!" Noah demanded.

"Prove what?" Adrian asked confused.

"That what you're saying is true." Adrian didn't know what the boy hoped to gain, but he pushed his hand into his side pocket and pulled out the card Rachel had given to him, and handed it over to Noah who stared at it in shock. "Elijah gave you this?" He asked.

"No, Rachel Blair did." At this point, Noah's eyes were starting to bulge right out of their sockets.

"The hot Rachel?" He gasped, "I can't believe such a good thing could ever happen to someone like you."

"Someone like me?" Adrian asked. He thought the boy has come back to being human, but he was wrong.

"Yeah?" He shrugged as if he hadn't just said something hurtful. "Why did you say you're not getting the job?" He asked.

"I know that," Adrian replied while reaching for his backpack.

"Have a little faith." Oliver encouraged.

"I would if I wasn't going to be interviewed by the dog," Adrian told him. Both boys acted less surprised than he did and they laughed at him. "Now you see why I am worried," Adrian said while adjusting his belt.

"About what I said before," Oliver started in between laughter. "You know, with the faith thing, forget I said that," Oliver told him, this made Noah laugh even more.

"You are in for a long ride my friend, that dog is one hell of a rich dog." Noah gave him a pat on his back and then walked back into his bedroom. "Good luck!" He yelled from behind a closed door.

Adrian simply just shook his head. "Thanks." He whispered.

"Hey, don't listen to that guy, I know you will do just fine." Oliver smiled.

Adrian returned his smile, he really hoped he does as he desperately needed to get that job. A glance at his wristwatches a loud gasp fell off his mouth and he took off. If he didn't leave now he was going to be late for his interview. He quickly rushed into the bedroom to grab his shoes and then rushed back out. "See you later guys!" He yelled and bolted for the door, as he ran, he hopped on one leg while forcing his shoe on the other leg.

Adrian took the next bus he saw and forty-five minutes later he's made it to his first stop with thirty more minutes to spare, he pulled the card with the address written on it from his pocket and then flagged a taxi down. Having no idea where he was headed he smiled at the taxi driver and then hand the card over to him."That's where I'm going." He told the man politely and then jumped in the cab, his ass hitting the leather seat at the same time he blew air from his mouth. The cab ride was a long one and Adrian could feel his anxiety peeking out from within. He didn't know what to expect once he got to his destination.

"Here we are." The cabman called to the sweating boy's attention.

"T-thanks." Adrian stuttered and came down. He gave the man his money and stood on the road for a while, the first sign that caught his eye was a street sign that reads, 'Wealth's Villa' a cold air rushed out of his mouth and he shut his eyes. A gigantic gate stood in front of him and his fingers shook.

Should he call the number written on the address or should he just press the blue button blinking at him right there on the wall? He didn't know what to do and in the end, he settled for the blue button, with shaky fingers he pushed the button, and a female's voice replied two seconds after.

"Yes, who is it?" They asked.

Adrian swallowed loudly. "A-Adrian, I am here for an interview." His voice is barely audible. He was grateful when the gates slide open and no more questions were asked. He stepped into the big compound and his jaw dropped to the ground. The mansion that stood a few feet away from him was massive. This was the kind of house one sees in a magazine and to think that he would have the opportunity to behold such beauty, beats his imagination and not only was he going to behold it, but he was also going to be in it.

Even if he doesn't get the job, the thoughts that he has been in a house like this will last forever.

"Hello." A cheerful voice called to his attention and Adrian found himself staring at a lovely lady. She wore a beautiful black jumpsuit on a flat shoe but she had an apron tied on. "My name is Jessica." She introduced.

Adrian knew it was time he picked his jaw up from the ground and responded to the nice lady. "Hi, my name is-"

"Adrian." The lady replied and they both laughed. "Come in, Rachel is waiting." She told him and they both made their way into the huge mansion.

Adrian's breath was knocked out of him when he found himself in the waiting area of that huge house. He felt out of place standing there with white walls that gave a special reflection to the golden chandelier that hung on the high ceiling, creative display of color contrast can be spotted in certain spaces with pictures and spectacular pieces of art and also on the fireplace. The room was dynamic and bewitching as a particular piece of artwork caught his eyes. Arts made with a natural element adorn the space of the living rooms and mirrors of numerous sizes, a big one was used to adorn an empty wall while two small ones were framed and placed in different patterns. A hint of freshness filled his nostrils and he followed the captivating scent until it stops at a small potted plant. Adrian has no idea what plant that was but it smelled divine. The list goes on as Adrian looked around, he didn't even realize he has left the waiting area and was now roaming the huge living room. This place took his breath away. It was confirmed that it is not only humans that can take one's breath away even houses, cars included as he remembered the number of beauties he walked past on their way in.

"Hello Adrian, glad to see you made it!" Rachel called with a grin. "Come, there is no time to waste so let's get this over with." She sauntered off and Adrian almost nearly ran after her. He didn't have enough time to look around as he was in a haste and it seems like the farther they went inside the mansion the more beauties they were to behold. They made it to a bedroom door and Adrian heard the woman knock once on the door before pulling it apart. Adrian didn't know what to expect from behind that closed door so he braced himself. Once he stepped into the huge room, it looked familiar, he has seen this room before, but where? His brain remembered the picture Rachel had shown him that night.

So this is the dog's room? Adrian could not believe his eyes. The place looked even more beautiful than it did in the picture. He looked around the big room and his eyes fell on a bed. The same the dog laid on in that photo.

The white duvet shifted and Adrian took his eyes away to have them back on Rachel who sat comfortably on a white sofa. "Ready?" She asked.

Adrian nodded. "Yes." He muttered.

"Billy, we have another person for you." She called and the dog slowly turned around. Big brown eyes met with Adrian's, the dog assessed him with intimidating eyes that were hard and expressionless. Like a hateful glare, it burned him, trying to shake him and maybe throw him out of the room. Adrian was terrified no doubt, but he stood his ground. Just a dog, he kept reminding himself, albeit a spoilt and rich one yet a dog and he looked really cute. That thought caused Adrian to smirk but he soon smacked it off his face when the dog climbed down from the bed and made its way toward him.

Adrian wanted to run away but he stood there. Hopefully, he doesn't pass out. Once the dog made it to him, Billy simply sat down and gave its paw out for a shake. Adrian breathed out so loudly as he went to his knees and took the dog's paw and in no time the dog had him pinned to the ground and was licking his face.

"You're hired!" Rachel yelled. It was evident in her tone that she was relieved. "Your job starts now, if you wish to share a joint-in bedroom with Billy, that door over there is the answer," she said pointing at a door that stood a few distances away from the dog's bed. "But, if you don't, feel free to meet with Jessica later today and she will lead you to the workers' lodge, there you will get your own private space." She smiled. "Push open that bottom drawer on your left, in it you will find a to-do list of what Billy needs, when he needs them, everything you need is written down there." She continued. "And for your salary, you get a monthly payment of fifty thousand and a weekly allowance of five thousand. Here is your contract," she dumped a bunch of paper on the glass table. "Sign them when you're ready and returned them to me, you have a health insurance document to fill out there too and Elijah will see you when he gets back, so if you have any further questions ask him!" With that said, she left him alone with the dog.

Everything she's said so far was still settling down and when it finally sunk in, Adrian yelled.

"What?!" He screamed startling the dog.

"What?!" He cried again and this time he had tears running down his eyes.

This was too good to be true.
