Chapter 4

Chapter Four

She knew her heart was falling even if it was just a game but some parts of her acknowledged that this was not just a game but a life changer if things worked out fine.

She paused Maybe I should just go back home and let him know that it’s all a mistake” Deep sighed. “No” she breathes out “ it’s not a mistake for me, This is Charlotte’s mistake and she is going to pay for it."

She looks around with her head up high, a bright smile on her face as she walks into the bar. There he was sitting humbly at this table, he had not ordered anything but the waitress was standing beside him.

One would think she was getting his order but it was the opposite he was getting her order, and she was flirting with him.

"Hope I didn't keep you waiting," Isabella said with her smile when she got to the table, David got up as he replied to her.

"No, got here a few minutes ago."

"My date is here, please excuse us," David said to the waitress who stared at Isabella with disgust.

Isabella can imagine what's going on in the girl's head with her expression, it only made Isabella grin.

"Let's order something," Isabella suggested and he turned to the waitress who was refusing to leave.

"Two bottles of whiskey," David ordered while Isabella had her sit.

They were about to start a conversation when the waitress returned with their order, she dropped it rudely on the table before walking away.

"I apologize for earlier, it was a necessary lie," David smiled awkwardly.

Isabella nodded in understanding, "I understand."

David opened and emptied the drink into two cups, he dropped one in front of Isabella who held it with a smile.

Is age ever going to stop smiling in this guy's presence, he raised his cup, "Let's drink."

"Yeah," she raised the cup to her lips and took a sip, She has high school tolerance but it would be rude to let him know that on their first date.

"So tell me about yourself," Isabella broke the awkward silence.

"You know all there is to know," he replied.

"I want to know more."

David chuckled as he finished his glass of whiskey and poured himself another glass. Isabella stared in anticipation, She wanted to ask the real question but she didn't want to be too forward.

"Do you have a girlfriend?" She blurted the question, staring away shyly she picked up her cup and took a sip from her drink.

"Yes," her heart sank immediately when she heard his response. Was Charlotte crushing on a devoted guy? Well, he does not look like he is in a relationship.

*It isn't written on the forehead* her subconscious said. 'Yeah, it isn't,' she bit her lips.

David continued, "And she is sitting three tables away from here digging holes in your body."

Why is she unlucky? Isn't it her fate to love? Why does the guy she loves need to have a girlfriend?

"Oh, I didn't..." Isabella was going to turn and see the girl, she was dying to know the type of girl he was dating.

"Don't do that, she could gouge out your eyes," Isabella gasped in fear, David

laughed as he noticed that.

"What a scary cat you, You seriously believe I have a girlfriend and she is sitting here?" He laughed harder holding his stomach.

He looked cute while smiling but before Isabella realized that she was mad that he tricked her.

"You should have seen your face," he laughed harder and she could not help but join the laughter. He was right she was an idiot to believe he was in a relationship.

"Stop," she blushed and he obeyed, he rested his elbow on the table while he filled her cup.

"I am not in a relationship," he said and she raised her head to stare at him. Would she get tired of getting lost in those eyes of his?

He retreats and rests his back on the chair, he has no idea how comforting it is to hear him admit he is single.

"Neither am I," Isabella blurted and she quickly bowed her head in embarrassment, How could she give him the information he hadn't requested?

"Why is a beautiful lady like you single? Don't tell me guys aren't interested in you, they must be blind if they aren't," he emptied his second glass.

He just indirectly admits she is beautiful, he sees her as a woman. Isabella blushed hard with her eyes glued on his handsome face, She didn't care if he found out she was all red for him at this rate.

"No one wants to date a poor lady," she feigned innocence as she brought the glass to her lips again.

"Poor but gorgeous lady," he said and she choked on her drink, does he have any idea how much effect his words have on her?

"I guess," she finally muttered. Soon they were out of the bar strolling down the streets. David asked Isabella how she was coping with work, he believed as a secretary she must have a lot of responsibilities.

Isabella went on to tell him how hard and uncomfortable it was for her at her workplace, she even went as far as telling him that her boss once sexually harassed her.

"Isabella," he stopped and she turned to face her. "Would you like to work for me?"

She was quiet as her eyes roamed his face to find out if he was pulling her legs again, When she found out he was serious she said, "But I know nothing about painting, I will be a burden I can't take the offer."

Though her mouth spoke those words her heart begged for him to insist on having her by his side.

"I..." She anticipated what he was going to say.
