KRISTINE's POV

"Wait, what are you talking about? Dave did what?" I queried, my brows creasing as I reeled from bewilderment.

"He called me, Kris. He told me everything." Amelia replied firmly.

"Everything like what?" I retorted.

"You broke up with him after he caught you cheating on him with Sebastian..."

"Wait, what?" I was flabbergasted. What a twist! Dave couldn't have possibly said that. That wasn't the fucking truth.

"You seem to be replying with a lot of whats, Kristine. Did he lie to me or what?"

"I don't know what the hell Dave told you, Amelia, but that isn't the truth. The fuck?" I replied, annoyance coursing through my veins.

"So what is the truth then?" she queried. "You know I expected more from you than this, Kris. I mean, of all people to be with, you chose him? Your ex. The same man who had fucking slapped you because of his conniving mistress."

"Amelia, please calm down and let me explain." I hated the fact that she wouldn't give me a chance to explain and dispel the

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    072 ~ How could you?

"Mommy, are you okay?" Mia's concerned voice pulled me from my trance, prompting me to refocus on the road as I regained my composure.I blinked back to reality and nodded curtly, sparing her a glance and pressing a smile on my face. "Sure, baby. Mommy is okay."I redirected my gaze to the road, my mind spiraling with the turmoil that had accompanied her revelation. I still couldn't wrap my head around it. When did Sebastian even tell her that? How could he have told her that? Introduce her to her grandma? He should be for real; we weren't even a thing yet, and he was already getting ahead of himself. How cute.I couldn't allow that. If this was his intention, I'd have to call him to order before he succeeded in his plans. Mia's birthday was in two weeks, and I already had plans to celebrate it the way we did every year—just myself, her, and Amelia. And her little cute cake. That's all. We usually got her gifts too, but not too expensive gifts, as I wasn't trying to raise a spoiled br

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    071 ~ Promises

KRISTINE'S POVI woke up this morning, feeling enthusiastic about life in general. It was unusual, considering how chaotic my life has been lately, but maybe this newfound feeling stemmed from what's been happening recently with you-know-who. The smile currently etched on my face as I carried Mia over to my car outside was so contagious that it even caught my neighbor's attention. "Morning, Kristine!" Esme greeted, waving her hand at me and jolting me from my trance. I stared at the redhead and grinned genially. "Morning!" I replied. "How are you doing? That smile looks good on you this morning." "Ah, thanks, Esme!" I couldn't hide my blush as I walked past her to the car. "You're welcome," she trailed after me. "Mommy, are you happy?" Mia asked me, her sparkling grey orbs probing mine as I opened the back seat of the vehicle. "Not really, baby. Why do you ask? Does Mommy look happy?" She nodded eagerly. "Yes, Mommy is beautiful when she smiles." My heart melted at

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    070 ~ She mustn't find out

DAVE'S POVThe shrill sound of the alarm clock beside the bed reverberated into my ear, piercing my eardrums and stirring me from my slumber. I grunted with displeasure at the unfamiliar noise. Fuck. Whose alarm is that?I groaned, my eyes loosely closed as I reached out to turn off the clock from the bed. But then I realized I wasn't really familiar with my surroundings. It seemed the source of the alarm clock was elsewhere since I couldn't find it on the bedstand I assumed was beside me.The noise kept piercing my ears, and no one would turn it off. I was compelled to open my eyes, darting my gaze to the alarm clock I found on the floor."Fuck," I cursed beneath my breath as I reached for it and turned it off with the switch on its side. I heaved a heavy sigh, and I was just about to lay back on the bed when I heard a familiar feminine voice."Good morning, David." A zap of shock ran through me, my brows creasing into a frown as I found this strange. It was the early hours of the

DAVE'S POVBree nearly choked on her drink as soon as I dropped the bombshell about Kristine's infidelity."No way," her eyes widened with disbelief, darting between mine like I had just blown her mind. I guess I had. "That can't be real."I scoffed lightly, shaking my head subtly as I shrugged. "Trust me, I wish it weren't. I was just as shocked as you are now. But it is what it is."Her brows knitted together in curiosity and confusion as she placed down her glass beside her; she was sitting on the table, facing me. We were at close proximity but not so close. There was a short gap between us."I don't understand... How? What the fuck? Did you catch her red-handed? Or how did you find out?" She bombarded me with these questions."The former." I replied tersely. "We had a fight yesterday and I broke up with her.""You did what?" "We broke up initially, Bree. I broke up with her cause I needed time to sort out my personal problems.""What personal problems?" She asked, her frown deep

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    068 ~ Childhood friend

DAVE'S POV I pulled my car to a halt outside a cozy house on the outskirts of the City. Heaving a sigh, I glanced over at the building, contemplating my thoughts as my fingers lingered on the key in the keyhole. It had been ages since I saw her. I knew she'd probably be very surprised that I had come to visit her after cutting her off a long time ago. Not like I cut her off, cut her off. I just distanced myself from her since I was already involved with Kristine and she didn't like Kristine. I knew she liked me. She always has. However, I didn't feel the same way. I only saw her as a friend, but she didn't see me that way. She always wanted us to be more than friends. And unfortunately, I hadn't honored her wish.I was talking about Sabrina Hart, my childhood friend and the woman that harbored resentment towards Kristine since the day I chose Kristine over her. It wasn't literally, but Sabrina had written me off the day I told her Kristine had finally agreed to become my girlfrie
