The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the breakfast table where Skylar sat with her sons, Emilio and Valentina. Despite the cheerful atmosphere, a cloud of unease lingered in Skylar’s mind. She had promised Jared that she would speak to his father, Jason, about his sudden departure from the birthday party.
