ONE TORTUROUS MONTH. One month had passed by in a blur. That month was filled with nothing but torture, pain, and sadness for Sophia. Why? Because of Chase. She hadn't talked to him - no, he hadn't spoken to her - since the day he lashed her with his belt. For the first few days after that incident, she hid herself in the safe confines of her room, a tiny part of her hoping he would go to her, force her to talk to him or maybe steal a kiss, but nothing happened. He ignored her. Then, she finally saw the truth in his words. She badly wanted to apologize. All she wanted was for him to smile at her and pull her in his arms. She tried speaking to him, but he always gave her cold shoulders. He wouldn't say a word to her, the highest he would do was walk out on her. Then, all of a sudden, he disappeared. He never showed up at home. And when she asked, she was told that he ha~~~ She would surely be oblivious to what happened. Both Chase and the man that had intended to shoot her had their guns on silencer. Sophia didn't hear the guns going off and didn't see when Chase had even brought out his gun and returned it back to his pocket. Chase nodded at her. “I’m fine,” His jaw clenched when Sophia placed her hand on his shoulder and unintentionally pressed the bullet wound there. "Dammit, fuck!," Feeling something warm and sticky on her fingers, Sophia pulled her hand away and gasped when she saw blood on it. "You -" She looked at Chase's face. "You're bleeding! How - how did it happen?" "It's nothing serious. I’m okay,” He managed to stand up and held her wrist. “Come, I’ll take you somewhere else," Sophia ignored him and yanked her wrist from his palm. Turning around, her eyes fell on the injury. “How did you get shot? What happened?” She was too concentrated on him that s
~~~ HE'D LOST IT. Chase was sure he lost his senses the moment he realized he had actually kissed Saige. Chase pulled his hand away from her waist and took it to hers, unwooding her arms away from his neck before he pulled away from the kiss, earning a pout from her. He stared at Saige's swollen lips, and his gaze flickered back to hers. Her green eyes didn't look dead and sad anymore. There was only lust swiveling in them and he was sure if it was Sophia, he would have taken her there and then. "Dammit" He raked his hands through his hair and turned his back to her, mentally scolding himself for what he did. He wasn't meant to care. He shouldn't have cared when he saw the sadness in her eyes. It reminded him of the similar ones in Sophia's eyes. What the fuck was he thinking? Great. He was thinking of how he couldn't be responsible for whatever happened to Saige in the fu
~~~ The party continued in full swing. Everyone resumed their business and before Sophia could realize it, time had passed. It wasn't yet time for her to cut her cake. The MC had announced that the party had only gone halfway and there was still a lot to happen. Sophia just sat gloomily on her seat, refusing drinks from Sophia and others. All she could think of was Chase. He occupied her thoughts and she couldn't wait to talk to him. Her eyes fell on him going towards the bathroom and an idea popped into her mind. That would be the best time to talk to him. She stood up and flashed Valerie, Lucas and Luciano a smile. “Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom," Lucas ignored her and turned his face away while the remaining two nodded. ~~~ "Cha-Don," Chase stopped in his tracks at the mention of his name at the familiar voice. He turned and n
~~~ Sophia stretched and picked up the box from the bedside table, then clicked it open. A gasp left her lips when she stared at the glittery diamond necklace, staring right back at her. She picked up the jewelry, and tears clouded her vision. The gift didn't make her feel special, the fact that Chase didn't forget her birthday was what made her feel so special. She herself had forgotten that she was turning nineteen that day. With so much happiness, Sophia clutched the flowers and necklace in the box, and then she rushed out of the room, running towards her room. The way she had opened the door to her room and closed it back with a loud bang had Charlie waking up, and the cat yawned lazily, before staring at her as she made her way towards him. Sophia sat on the bed beside him and giggled. “I’m sorry I startled you and woke you up, Charlie,” She gi
~~~ With that, he roughly pushed her head away and got down from the bed. He wore his trousers back and left the room, tucking his gun in his trousers holster. It was time to meet the person he suspected of helping Sophia escape. ~~~ Saige took a sip from her wine, smiling at herself in the mirror. She was dressed in a red mid-thigh length dress, which hugged her body in all the right places. She had a pair of stilettos on and was ready to head to Chase's mansion. She giggled at the sight of her hair and eyes in the mirror. She had died her fiery red hair to a chest nut brown color and was putting on a brown contact lenses. It was foolish of her, she knew but that was what attracted Chase to Sophia, wasn’t it? She was sure now that Sophia wasn't in their lives again, Chase would want her. He didn't want her before, but with that hair and eye color, she could have him. Her mind r
