Nicholas Hunt strode into the waiting lounge with confidence, Yvonne Myers on his arm. As he passed the side hall, his eyes immediately landed on me in the corner, holding my son, Eli Smith.

Today was supposed to be one of those rare days I'd cleared from my busy schedule to spend with Eli. However, my father had asked me to accompany him to the Fortune List Summit instead.

I had no choice but to bring Eli along. My plan was simple—wait in the side hall, show my face once the meeting started, and then leave.

Because I was carrying Eli, I wasn't wearing any jewelry. To Nicholas, I looked plain and bare-faced—like someone's nanny.

He marched over, his expression full of disdain. "If it isn't Elizabeth Storm. Is this how far you've fallen? Working as a nanny? Clearly, you're nothing without me. It's a shame you didn't pass my test back then. Otherwise, you'd be the woman standing beside me now."

He tightened his grip on Yvonne's hand and continued, "But thanks to you, I was able to find someone who truly loves me."

Yvonne smiled at him sweetly. "She must deeply regret it now. She only has herself to blame for being so blind. It serves her right to end up like this. Though being a nanny suits her pretty well."

She turned to a passing staff member and said, "Everyone attending today is a major figure. How can you just let anyone walk in? If something happens, will you take responsibility? Hurry up and throw this nanny out."

While I wasn't wearing accessories, my clothes were all custom-made by a top designer from Ivania. Over the past two years, I had taken over my father's entire company and had been so busy that I rarely appeared in public. The staff didn't recognize me, and because of Yvonne's flashy appearance, they chose to believe her.

The staff member said coldly, "Sorry, ma'am. Unauthorized personnel need to leave."

I didn't budge. I calmly explained, "I'm here to attend the summit as well. I have every right to be here."

The staff hesitated. They had encountered low-profile elites before and weren't sure if they should force me out.

But Nicholas laughed as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world. "You—someone who had to rely on scholarships to pay for university—on the Fortune List? What a joke. Since you claim you're here for the summit, is your name on the guest list?"

My name wasn't on the list yet. The Storm family entry was still under my father's name. It wouldn't be changed to mine until he fully retired later this year.

Seeing my hesitation, Nicholas turned back to the staff. "Let me tell you something. This woman missed the chance to become my wife because she failed my test. Poor people will always be poor—greedy and short-sighted. Even when a massive opportunity falls into their hands, they still can't hold on to it."

Since I had arrived early, none of the true power players had shown up yet. Most of the people present were ranked near the bottom of the Fortune List. Some who recognized Nicholas began to laugh along.

"She really missed out. To lose a man as rich and handsome as Mr. Hunt… she must be kicking herself."

"I heard she dated Mr. Hunt for four years in university and still couldn't hold onto a blessing like that."

Nicholas seemed to recall something, and his expression suddenly soured.

Back in university, he had pursued me passionately. At the time, we had both hidden our family wealth, dating like an ordinary couple for four years.

I had endured 98 tests he set for me—working menial jobs, donating blood, cutting off friends, getting injured, and even giving up my research grant.

I eventually discovered he had been pretending to be poor all along, and every hardship I faced had been a deliberate setup. Meanwhile, he had been extremely generous with the campus belle, Yvonne, buying her cars and houses.

My heart had turned to stone. I refused his 99th test, broke up with him, and moved abroad.

The crowd didn't notice the shift in Nicholas' expression and continued to mock me.

Suddenly, he spoke in a frigid tone. "That's enough. Throw her out. I don't want to see her face."

I finally reached my breaking point and exploded. "Nicholas, did you get kicked in the head by a donkey? Who do you think you are? That I'd ever have a child with you? Take a good look in the mirror. How could you possibly compare to my husband? You're delusional!"Nicholas' face darkened, but he still refused to back down. "Elizabeth, I don't believe you. We were together for four years. You passed every test I set. Your feelings for me were real. How could you just let me go and marry someone else? Dixon must have forced you, didn't he?"I took a deep breath and gave him one final warning. "Just thinking about how blind I was to ever date you makes me feel sick, like I swallowed a fly. Let me warn you—don't show your face in front of me again. If you do, I'll make sure you have no future in this city."I rolled up the car window and told the driver to go.But Nicholas kept shouting stubbornly, "Elizabeth, are you testing my sincerity right now? I'll pass your test!" With a look

The only one left behind was Nicholas. He hadn't directly touched me earlier, but now he just stood there staring, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't find the words. I ignored him. Dixon carried me to the car and took me straight to the hospital to have my injuries examined. By the time we returned home, a crowd had already gathered outside our gate. They were the heads of the families whose relatives had attacked me, all arriving in person to apologize. Before my father had even left the venue, he had publicly declared that those responsible would pay the price. He immediately severed all business ties with them. Several companies lost their suppliers and their funding overnight; within two days, they would collapse.Seeing that my father meant every word, the other families panicked and rushed over to apologize. At this point, they still didn't realize that the people who had caused the trouble were already sitting in a police station. When they saw Dixon and me pul

Everyone present looked terrified. One by one, they began begging for mercy. "Mr. Smith, we didn't mean it. Nicholas and Yvonne were the ones who incited us. We were all tricked!""Exactly! Yvonne said that if we taught your wife a lesson, she'd introduce us to you.""We'll compensate Mrs. Smith! Please, just spare us this once. We're begging you…"In an instant, all the blame shifted to Yvonne. Dixon fixed his gaze on her, his voice quiet but carrying a terrifying weight. "I'll make you pay a hundredfold for this."Under his murderous stare, Yvonne's legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the floor. She turned to Nicholas for help. "Nicholas, help me…"But Nicholas could barely help himself. In fact, he already loathed her. If she hadn't insisted on stirring up trouble, things would never have reached this irreparable point. Just then, his phone chimed. It was the report from his assistant. The investigation showed that during her university years, Yvonne had dated five wealt

Seeing my bruised, swollen face and Eli bawling in fright, my father exploded with rage. He raised his walking stick and swung it straight at the people who had attacked me.Everyone present recognized my father; he was a staple on financial news programs. Not a single person dared to fight back. They could only howl in pain as my father rained blows on them. But Yvonne still didn't understand. "Mr. Storm, did you hit the wrong people? This woman was pretending to be your daughter! The audacity! We couldn't stand the disrespect and decided to teach her a lesson for you. The one you should be hitting is her."My father helped me up from the ground, his voice a roar of fury. "Elizabeth Storm is my daughter! And you dared to treat her like this? I'll make sure you pay for it!"Dixon handed Eli to his assistant, then hurried over and cautiously took me from my father's arms. His voice was cold as ice as he looked at Yvonne. "You're telling me my wife kidnapped my son?"Yvonne's eyes

After hearing my words, Nicholas' expression soured.Suspicious by nature, he began to have doubts. With a darkened face, he questioned Yvonne, "Is what Elizabeth said true? Did you already know who I was back then?"Yvonne immediately looked wounded, as if she had been deeply wronged. "Nicholas, Elizabeth is lying. Don't you trust me? From the moment I met you, I understood what love at first sight really meant. I fell for you, not your name. Have you forgotten everything I've done for you?"Nicholas' suspicion wavered, but it didn't vanish. Lowering his head, he sent a message to his assistant, ordering him to look into Yvonne's university history. Furious, Yvonne lunged at me and slapped me hard across the face. Before I could even react, she snatched Eli from my arms.Eli struggled, reaching out for me and screaming, "Mommy! Mommy, help me!"Terrified for him, I tried to stay calm to keep him from panicking. "It's okay, baby. Daddy and Grandpa will be here soon to save us. W

The moment Dixon's name was mentioned, everyone froze.Everyone there knew exactly who he was. Dixon was the world's leading investor; any industry he touched was guaranteed to turn a profit. His assets spanned the globe, and even the wealthiest man in the country couldn't hold a candle to him. In fact, the only reason so many people had scrambled to attend the summit was the rumor that Dixon would be making an appearance. Eli wrapped his arms tightly around my neck and spoke up for me in a small voice. "She's my mommy. My mommy. You're the bad person."Yvonne didn't believe a word he said. She stepped forward, trying to pry him from my arms. She clearly thought that if she could "rescue" Dixon's son, the rewards would be unimaginable. The prospect of such an opportunity made her lose all sense of reason. Her expression twisted. "Elizabeth, hand over the boy! Not only will you not get a single cent for kidnapping him, but you'll also end up in prison!"Suddenly, people around
