Chapter 5

“I think we should deal with them together Donna.” Javier says.

“Good idea. Let’s send a message from one of their phones and ask for a sit down. Cody?”

“Yes Donna?”

“Figure out who has the most contact either Antonio or Julius’s phone with their group. Then send a message that their group is in control and they need a group meeting for today.”

“Yes Donna. I’ll set it for this evening.”

“Whoever’s phone you use, we have to meet on their territory so let me know where we are going.”

“Yes Donna.”

“Thank you Donna for your help in this matter. We will stay in town until after the meet.”

“We will accommodate you in one of the villas here on the compound, if you would like.”

Javier nods and Veronica calls out “Peter?”

“Yes, Donna.”

“Set them up in one of the big villas. We will be having a meeting today. Cody will give you the details. And where are the contracts?”

“Right here Donna.”

“Thank you. Now if you will all excuse me I am going to go get cleaned up and head to the gym. Cody will be in touch when we have specifics on the meeting.”

“Yes, Donna. Thank you.”

“Thank you.” Veronica adds with a nod as she leaves the building followed closely by Peter with a file box containing all the contracts and business paperwork that she asked for. She enters the car and Peter places the box in the trunk.

Veronica enters her house and goes to her room. Upon entering her bathroom, she strips and gets into the shower.

She comes out and gets dressed in her gym clothes so she can work out before she starts to go through the box of paperwork.

She puts in her ear plugs and starts her 5-mile run around the compound. Her daily run is the one time of day she can fully disconnect from everything and everyone. When the weather is nice she always runs outside. Today was one of those days. She ran in silence listening to her music as she thought through her next steps not paying attention to anyone or anything around her.

On her last lap around, she notices two SUVs in the driveway to the villa that the Molina cartel are using. She makes a mental note of both vehicle’s make and model so if she sees them again she will know who they belong too. There are at least six guards stationed around the villa. They all have ear pieces in and are surveying the property continuously.

Once she finishes with her run, she heads inside the gym where she stretches and heads to the weight machines. She lifts weights for about an hour. Her personal trainer, Damien, meets her on the mats as she is stretching again after lifting weights.

“Good morning, Donna.”

“Morning Damien.”

“Let’s start with some bag and foot work before we go into the ring today.”

Veronica motions for him to lead the way without saying a word.

She tapes up her hands and starts her assault on the punching bags. They work on her strikes and kicks to the bags for about 30 minutes before they move to the ring.

Veronica fights against Damien for several minutes before they are surrounded by a group of soldiers that have been working out.

Veronica continues to punch and kick at Damien until she knocks him out.

She stands up and catches her breath while the doctor checks on Damien and wakes him up.

“Nice shot Donna.” One of the soldiers, Vincent, says with a smile on his face.

She nods to the soldier.

“Would you do me the honor of allowing me to fight you today Donna?” He asks.

She motions for him to enter the ring but does not say anything. She puts back in her mouth piece and shakes his hand.

They circle each other for a few seconds before he makes a move to punch her but she spins out of his way and punches him in the back of the head. She kicks the back of his knees as he moves away from her pushing him into the ropes. He charges back at her and tries to kick her knee out but she jumps and kicks him in the face and punches him in the temple on her way back down. This causes him to fall to the floor in a daze. She holds him down until the ref counts to 10 indicating she has won.

“Help him up.” Veronica says as she takes her mouth guard out and climbs out of the ring.

“Yes, Donna.” A solider says from beside the ring.

Veronica walks out of the gym and runs back to her house.

She heads directly into her bathroom and strips then steps into the shower. She washes her hair and uses her body wash to wash all of the sweat off her body. She stays in the shower for several minutes before she steps out to dry off and get ready for the day.

As she comes out of the bathroom into her room with a towel wrapped around herself she makes her way to her dresser to get clothes out for the day. She knows there is someone behind her but she acts like she can’t see them.

“What do you want?” She asked.
