"H-Ha? A-Ah, just there," he countered to Laila with deviant eyes.

"You're keeping something from me! I've mastered all your actions and reactions, Vincent! Tell me the truth!" Laila asked in a high voice before she burst into tears.

With great concern for his wife, he immediately put down his bags and then approached her. He sat next to her and then gently stroked her back.

"Stop crying, Wife. I was just looking for extra money for your surgery. The doctor said it's risky if you don't take surgery right away."

Laila halted. He wiped his wife's teary eyes quickly with his fingers.

"S-Sorry, Hubby. I-I assumed you had left me. I-I speculated you had rejected me just like my family did to me."

To his information, Laila's family was rich but after they found out that their daughter was in a relationship with a miserable man, they kicked her out. Since then, he was the one who took care of Laila. His wife also neglected her own family.
