Sybil’s POV

“Where are you taking me? Put me down!” I shouted, pounding uselessly against Hunter’s back.

It was like hitting carved stone.

He didn’t even flinch.

No matter how much I twisted or struggled over his shoulder, his grip on me never loosened. If anything, his arm tightened possessively around my thighs, holding me more securely against his body.

“You can thank me later, my wife,” he said, voice rough, almost strained.

Then he stopped.

I heard a door creak open.

A second later, he set

Sybil’s POVTears blurred my vision as I faced my father. His anger burned like wildfire. My mother stood beside him, not furious, but worse.Disappointed.Like I had already failed.Noelle rushed to my side, summoned by one of the guards, her hands hovering near my arms like she was afraid I might shatter.“Your Highness, please… let’s go back inside,” she whispered urgently.“No!” My voice cracked, but I forced it louder. “I already agreed to marry four Alphas I don’t know. That was the compromise. But I refuse to get in bed with men I have no feelings for!”Everything went silent. My father stepped forward. The King. The most powerful man in the kingdom. But right now, he was just a father trying to force his daughter into something she did not want.“The mating ritual will not be complete without the marking,” he thundered. “And the marking cannot be done without consummation. You are not in human territory anymore. You are the Princess of this kingdom. Now get back there and do y

Sybil’s POVHunter’s hands moved over me slowly, deliberately, like he was mapping every curve for the first time.My sides. The arch of my back.Down the sweep of my thighs.Back up again.Every touch left a trail of fire in its wake.“Sybil…” he breathed between kisses, his mouth barely leaving mine. “You’re so soft. You have no idea what you’re doing to me.”His voice was thick, strained. Honest.“Hunter…” I whispered, my fingers tightening in his hair as another wave of heat crashed through me. “I feel so hot. Are you sure this will help?”His lips curved against my skin.“I’m sure,” he murmured. “Let me show you.”He broke the kiss, but only to trace his mouth along my jaw, down the line of my throat. Each brush of his lips felt intentional; it was slow, savoring, as if he was tasting the path he traveled. My head tipped back without me meaning it to.His mouth moved lower.Lower.Until his breath fanned across my breast.A soft gasp escaped me when I felt the warm glide of his t

Sybil’s POVAs I stared into his eyes, the heat inside me surged, stronger, sharper, until thinking became difficult.Without realizing it, both of my hands slid onto Hunter’s chest.Solid.Warm.Alive beneath my palms.“I… I don’t feel good…” My voice came out breathless. “I feel like I’m burning… inside…”Panic flickered through me. I pushed myself up from the sofa, scanning the room.Bathroom.I needed cold water. A shower. Ice. Anything. But before I could take two steps, Hunter caught my wrist.I tried to pull back, but his grip tightened, not painful, just unyielding.“Let me go,” I said, my voice thinner than I wanted.“Where are you going?” he asked quietly.“I need something cold. Water… a shower… something…” I swallowed hard, my body trembling with the strange fever consuming me.Understanding flashed across his face.“The priests said the full moon would peak at eleven,” he murmured. “It’s only minutes away. And I think… I know how to help you.”My heart pounded. Can he rea

Sybil’s POVI quickly turned off the faucet and grabbed a paper towel, pressing it firmly against my finger.“It’s fine. Just a small cut,” I said, forcing steadiness into my voice even though my pulse was racing for reasons that had nothing to do with the sting.“Stop moving for a second…” Hunter murmured. His tone wasn’t commanding. That was worse. It was low. Rough around the edges. Like something inside him was unraveling thread by thread.“You’re making it very hard for me not to touch you, Sybil.”His hands skimmed along my arms, barely there, yet somehow burning through my skin. Then he pushed my hair over one shoulder, exposing my neck.A warm exhale brushed my collarbone. And then—His lips.Soft.Slow.Testing.I froze. Not out of fear.Out of sensation.Something unfamiliar spread through me, curling low in my stomach, tightening between my thighs. Instinctively, I pressed my legs together, trying to contain the sudden rush of heat flooding my body.Too late.“No use,” he w

Sybil’s POVHunter’s hand remained on my jaw.And I let him.Not only that, I held his gaze, chin slightly lifted in challenge, refusing to be the first one to break. His thumb brushed once along my cheekbone, slow and deliberate, like he was memorizing the feel of me.“How about we make a deal,” he said. One eyebrow arched. “What kind of deal?”“I stay here with you until the full moon reaches its peak,” he replied. “I won’t touch you. Not unless you ask. I’ll just protect you… in case the others wake up and start searching.” His voice dropped slightly. “There are about three hours left before the peak. If you want, I can keep doing this for the whole seven days.”I studied him carefully.“And what do you want in return?” I asked, already knowing he wouldn’t offer something for nothing. His eyes darkened with quiet intensity.“You think about consummating this marriage,” he said. “Not because anyone forces you. But because you decide to. And when you do…” His thumb traced the edge of

It looked secluded, hidden, like something out of a secret dream.Hunter stepped closer, his presence immediately crowding my senses.“The others don’t know about this place,” he said. “You can stay here until tomorrow. I slipped sleeping pills into River’s drink before I grabbed you. You should be safe until the moon passes its peak… but stay anyway. Just in case.”I bli
