The air between Lucian and me had shifted significantly. It wasn’t warm, not even close, but it wasn’t boiling hot anymore either. We weren’t at each other’s throats every second of every day, and that counted for something.

He didn’t scowl when I walked past him in the hall, his sharp jaw relaxed instead of clenched. I didn’t mutter insults under my breath when he sat across the dining table, his silverware clicking against the china like it was the only sound in the room, making sure it irritated only me.

Sometimes he even nodded at me in greeting, the kind of nod you give a neighbor you don’t particularly like but have learned to live with. I took it. At this point, peace was priceless.

The real surprise came the evening I found a bottle of wine waiting in my room. The curtains were drawn against the night, the lamp casting a golden glow across the sheets. The bottle sat neatly on the dresser with a folded note propped against it. Not for me, obviously. The note was short, clipped

Lucian didn’t say a word. He just stared at Sienna like someone had punched the air out of his lungs and left him to suffocate. His eyes were wide, mouth half parted, yet no sound came out. Sienna turned her face away, refusing to meet his gaze, her chin tilting up with that stubbornness I knew too well. The silence stretched. I leaned back against the wall, arms folded tight over my chest, and let out a breath I’d been holding for too long.“You know what?” I snapped, my voice breaking the still air. “I can’t keep babysitting the two of you.”I huffed “You’re not children. You’re two grown adults acting like it’s the end of the world because of one fight. Do you know how exhausting this is for me? Do you have any idea how much I’ve sobbed over this? I’m so fucking tired.”Sienna’s head whipped toward me, her eyes blazing. “Don’t you dare act like you’re the victim here. I’m the one he betrayed. I’m the one who can’t even look at him without wanting to scream. You can forgive him s

  • I Hate You, Mr Billionaire.    Chapter Thirty-One: Morning Confessions and a glass

I stared at him across the room, chest tight, heart hammering like it wanted to escape. Lucian slouched in his chair, half-drained glass in hand, the whiskey catching the dim light and turning it a dangerous amber. I wanted to say something, anything, the lies, the loss and this stupid confession made my voice stick in my throat.“So… that’s why you hate me so much, isn’t it?” I asked finally, my words barely more than a whisper.Lucian tilted his head back, letting the light catch his sharp jawline, as he gave up a deep sigh of exhaustion and pain laced together.“Damn right,” he said, voice low.“You could never understand how hard it was… loving her while feeling like I wasn’t enough. And when you came into the picture, you made it worse without even trying so hard.”I felt a hollow ache twist through my chest. My throat tightened. I blinked fast, trying to hide the sting in my eyes. My hands clutched tightly. The guilt clawed at me, painful and relentless.Lucian leaned forward,

  • I Hate You, Mr Billionaire.    Chapter Thirty: After Hours

Lucian leaned back in his office chair, a glass of something sharp clutched lazily in his fingers. His tie was loosened, shirt sleeves rolled up, and his expression looked more like thunder than curiosity.“What the hell are you doing awake at three in the morning?” he asked, raising a brow.I shrugged, shutting the door behind me like this was some casual drop-in visit. My feet padded as I walked over to his desk.“What the hell are you doing getting drunk at 3 in the morning?”He scoffed, taking another slow sip, trying to ignore the sting. “I asked first.”“Well,” I said, walking further towards the couch across from his desk and dropping down on it“I was thirsty. Went to the kitchen. Didn’t quite make it in.”He stared at me over the rim of his glass. “What stopped you? Fridge too far?”I gave him a look. “You could say… the fridge was otherwise occupied.”He didn’t press. Thank God. The last thing I wanted to explain was that Sienna’s picture-perfect maid was currently busy

I woke up to the softest sound of slow, even breath, warm against my shoulder. For a second, I forgot where I was. Then I felt her curled into me like a cat. Beside me laid Sienna, trying to merge me and her into one body as she snuggled even more. Her arm was slung over my waist, her face buried against my neck, and her legs were tangled with mine like she was scared I’d disappear again if she didn’t hold on tight.I turned my head slightly to look at her. Peaceful. That’s the only word I could think of to describe her. She had this softness on her face I hadn’t seen in weeks. Her breathing was steady, her lips slightly parted. And for a moment, she didn’t look like my personal patient falling apart every day. She looked like my sister. That little girl that always snuck into my bed late at night, giggling under my sheets.Memories started trickling in like warm tea on a cold day. Memories of when we were little and used to fight about who got the left side of the bed. We’d always e

  • I Hate You, Mr Billionaire.    Chapter Twenty eight: One More Night

It’s been a few days since everything exploded, but the silence that followed felt worse than everyone screaming at the top of their lungs. The whole mansion had gone quiet. No more late-night laughter echoing from the kitchen. No more Sienna humming to herself while she painted by the window. Just a heavy silence and suffocating tension that made my chest feel tight.Sienna hasn’t spoken to Lucian at all. Not a word. Not even a glance. She ate dinners in her room but barely touched the food the maids bring her. She doesn’t paint. She doesn’t laugh. She isn't even trying to be annoying by pressuring me to do things with her. She completely shut both me and Lucian out, and the truth is that, I can’t blame her.Sienna and Lucian had another huge fight the night after the whole incident that involved Monet and the truth about me being the surrogate. It ended with her moving out of their bedroom, even though Lucian argued against it. She said she needed space. He said she was overreacting
