Chapter 24

Elyse looked up curiously, only to end up so terrified her knees nearly buckled. She saw three eagles circling high above, their wingspans incredibly wide.

One of them swooped down and snatched up a female.

"Bandits! Run!" Mirabel screamed in terror, but she was snatched up by another eagle and brought high up in the sky in a flash.

Alarmed, Elyse dared not make a sound. She could only hope the grass around her could keep her hidden.

"Save me, Elyse!" Mirabel cried out.

The only empty-handed eagle, who was about to leave, scanned the hillside once more. When he spotted Elyse, he immediately dove toward her.

The moment Elyse heard Mirabel's cry, she knew she was in grave danger. Even though her legs were still numb, she couldn't worry about it anymore. She spun around and tried running down the hill.
