"I see." A satisfied smile appeared on Missus Baxter's face, relieved to know that Oliver only saw Violet as a good friend. She tapped Oliver on the shoulder. "I understand. Get your dad to carry all these back for you later. Now run along to wash your hands. Dinner is ready."

"Okay," Oliver responded as he stared at Missus Baxter. He hesitated for a moment but did not say anything in the end.

He was not sure what pleased his grandmother so much. All he said was that he did not want Violet to be his stepmother because she was his mother. Why would there be any need for Violet to be his stepmother instead?

However, he was simply too lazy to explain and left to wash his hands obediently.
