Chapter 10

This time, it took Xavier three times before letting me go. At the end, we were both panting.

In the past, Xavier would leave when he was done with me. No matter how late he was, he would not stay overnight. But tonight, he stayed and drank alcohol until he passed out.

He was lying in bed, his eyes closed as he kept muttering, “Child, child, give me a child…”

I was sitting curled up against the wall, listening to his soft voice. I felt very uncomfortable.

I didn\'t know he was so obsessed with having a child. I suddenly thought about the baby I have lost, and pain swept through me.

“Xavier,” I called out his name softly, but he didn\'t budge even after three calls. I concluded that he was asleep, so I took his hand and stroked it on my stomach. “There really was a child here. If he was still alive, I would’ve been pregnant for more than three months now.”

I sighed and said helplessly, “I don\'t know why you regret it. But I’m afraid, I’m so scared! I’ve loved you for so many years. If you insist on having a baby, I wouldn’t reject it, but what if I get hurt again? What if I experience another miscarriage, what should I do?”

No one heard my pain, except the dim lights of the chandelier softly swaying and glistening.

The next day, when I woke up, Xavier was gone. If it weren\'t for the empty bottles of alcohol beside me, I would think last night was just a dream.

After that, I didn\'t see him for half a month. I had no idea what happened outside or where he went.

At this moment, I found out that I was pregnant. Lethargy, acidity, nausea, these familiar signs tell me that I was pregnant.

I began to feel uneasy. When I was first locked up in here, I said that I would try to get rid of the child if I got pregnant, but now, a piece of flesh and blood has grown in my stomach and was now connected to my life. I felt a little sad again.

  This is my child.

I thought about it for three days, but Xavier suddenly stopped visiting me. I just knew that I shouldn\'t just sit around anymore and wait to die.

I ran to the door and the bodyguard stopped me. I was not afraid. Instead, I yelled, “Where is Xavier? He usually comes to me everyday and now he ignores me? What\'s going on?”

The bodyguard shook his head as always, “Ms. Yasmin, please go back, don\'t make it difficult for us!”

Oh, I will make it difficult for you!

I drew the knife hidden in my sleeve and pressed it against my neck, “I want to see him! I want to see him now!”

The bodyguard was pale in fright, “Ms. Yasmin…”

“Enough!” I screamed as I tightened my grasp on the knife and pressed harder.

I smelled the smell of blood, and the two bodyguards turned pale with fright, “Ms. Yasmin…”

“Give me a car! I\'m going to find him!” I demanded.

As the knife cut through my skin deeper, they finally surrendered to my wish.

I drove to the city and abandoned the car when I arrived. I walked on the city road, finally breathing in fresh air.

I was about to get into a taxi when suddenly an advertising screen on the opposite building caught my eyes.

On the screen was a live broadcast of Xavier and Rachelle’s wedding.

The aisle full of flowers, the beautiful bride, the handsome groom, they stood together holding hands. The beautiful and radiant girl blinded me.

I know I should hurry and leave, but I was stunned. I have always dreamed of marrying him for seven years, and now he was holding his own wedding.

Hell, I really wanted to see what he looked like in a groom’s suit.
