Yes or No?

CHAPTER 18 - YES OR NO?

Author's POV

The days were passing, and the wedding day was near. Whatever the occasion, the stress was clearly visible on Xingyue's face.

Even though Xi Song was not happy with this marriage, there was a thing that slowly took away his feelings. As if he really wanted to tie himself with her. But why was he feeling like this? Was he looking at her from another point of view now? Was that bitterness gradually turning into sweet syrup?

The moments they spent together had dissolved in his heart as if they were the same for years. Don't know why he felt as if he already knew Xingyue?

But he knew that he was about to do something that he had absolutely no desire to do.

But why was her unhappy face piercing his heart so much?

Was this love? Or did he feel pity for her?

Where there were thousands of happiness on one side, a distinct storm was departing in Xinyue's heart.

But her downturned lips soon flashed a smile when someone entered.

Suddenly her troubled heart started to feel better when her gaze fell on her best friends, Xia Na and Tang Xue.

Waving at them, she signed them to come in as they shyly walked towards her.

"Oh, my eyes got blessed by your beauty," Tang Xue commented while embracing Xingyue as she flashed a sweet grin at her.

"I need you guys so much."

Spreading her arms in the air, Xia Na pulled Xingyue into a tight hug.

"My darling, we're here for you. Don't need to worry anymore."

Their eyes softened for a moment, but then the whole mood changed like a gust of wind when Ling Xiao tried to prank on them.

"BOOM!!"

It took them no longer to beat his ass. While on the hand, Xia Na held his ear and twisted it. Tang Xue was ready with her master kicks.

"Dare to do it again, and you'll see a great result."

"Agh! It hurts, Xia Na. I wouldn't do it again," he begged while groaning in pain.

"Ugh! Xi Song, help me out."

Everyone's eyes then fell on Xi Song, who seemed to enjoy the scene quietly.

"Who asked you to do this? Now enjoy it."

Seeing this, Xingyue felt pitiful for him as she pulled Xia Na aside.

"Enough you, guys."

Turning her gaze, she asked. "Are you okay, Ling Xiao?"

Upon noticing her caring side, Ling Xiao's eyes became moist. "You're the only one here who is sweet to me, sister-in-law."

With her half-lidded eyes, she caressed his back. "It's okay, Ling Xiao. I'm here for you."

Xi Song's POV

The day had finally arrived, the day I was eagerly waiting for.

I finally realized this after seeing a glimpse of myself in the mirror.

"Today is my wedding, but why is this day like a new storm coming into my life."

With a rueful smile, I spattered some scent on me when mom entered, calling out my name.

"Xi Song?"

Swiftly turning my head to face her, I flashed a fake smile when she checked me out from top to bottom. "I can't believe my eyes. My son is looking so handsome, just like your dad."

Her moist eyes were clearly telling how much she was waiting for this moment. But she did not know that the son she loved so much was going to break her heart today.

I wiped her tears with my trembling hands, and in an instant, she pulled me into a hug.

"Never break her heart, Xi Song. Always love and take care of your wife. Xingyue is one in a million. Be an admiring husband, okay, son?"

Words seemed to freeze inside my mouth as I quickly just rubbed her back and hummed. "Got it, mom."

Xingyue's POV

Getting worried, I just kept looking at the clock when Xia Na came inside the room.

Quickly, I stood up and asked her. "Is everything like we planned? Did you confirm with Xi Song? Is he ready to say no?"

Seeing me so nervous, Xia Na held both my hands and calmed me down.

"Don't worry, darling. He will follow the plan. But Xingyue, do you really want to back off the wedding? What about Aunt?"

"What are you trying to say, Xia Na? We agreed to back off, right?"

I saw a different kind of fear in her eyes which was not there at all before.

Her hands were covered with a cold sweat that made me feel concerned.

"What's wrong, Xia Na?"

I was busy looking at her when someone called out my name, which made me frown.

"Xingyue?"

Hearing this voice, I felt a distinct uneasiness. As when I gazed around, I saw my mom shaking with her trembled chin.

A tear escaped her eyes when her back pressed against the wall.

"Mom?"

I moved forward to support her when she started taking her steps back.

"I-I can't believe that you'll go so far."

"Mom, I--"

"DON'T CALL ME MOM."

She shouted aloud, sending shivers down to my spine.

I could feel my heart-piercing as it was the first time she ever yelled at me.

"DO YOU THINK WEDDING IS A GAME, XING? HOW CAN YOU?"

I clenched my jaw while tightly gripping my fist. "MOM, I'M NOT GOING TO MARRY HIM. I'LL SAY NO."

"TRY OUT, XINGYUE. If you said no, our relationship would end here."

I couldn't believe my ears.

She was ready to break ties with me for marriage.

"Mom, do my feelings not matter to you anymore?"

"A mom knows what is best for her child, Xing. I'll never want to force you, but you should consider my feelings too. If today this wedding ended with your no, we'll never see each other again, Xingyue..."
